None of these apps cleans your home or replaces expert safety guidance; they organize, prioritize, and track the work.

Best for flexible cleaning routines: Tody

Tody is the strongest choice for one person—or a household—that wants to know what needs attention without forcing every chore onto an arbitrary weekday. Its indicator-based system adjusts priority according to how much time has passed and how much attention a task needs.

You can customize rooms and chores, create a prioritized list, and include irregular work such as oven cleaning, seasonal windows, HVAC-filter changes, pet-area cleaning, or a one-time closet clear-out. That makes it particularly useful when cleaning frequency varies with pets, occupants, cooking, weather, or entertaining.

Tody’s official site lists a free plan at $0 forever and says the single-user plan includes an automatically generated cleaning plan. Premium is listed from $9.99 per year and adds features such as household synchronization and multiple homes. Confirm the price and feature availability in your store before subscribing.

Choose Tody if you:

  • Live alone or want a calm personal system.
  • Prefer flexible urgency over fixed due dates.
  • Need to manage seasonal and occasional chores.
  • Find large checklists overwhelming and want the app to surface priorities.

Tody may not suit you if you:

  • Need precise Monday/Wednesday/Friday assignments.
  • Want points, leaderboards, or explicit rewards.
  • Need household sharing on the free tier.

Tody’s iOS listing describes managing tasks according to actual need rather than arbitrary dates, while its Android listing describes customized routines, household check-ins, and a prioritized cleaning list: App Store and Google Play.

Best for visual shared schedules: Sweepy

Sweepy is aimed more directly at households. It organizes work by room, tracks room cleanliness, distributes workload among household members, generates daily schedules, and synchronizes across devices.

That makes it a good fit for couples, families, or roommates who want to see both the condition of the home and who is expected to contribute. Its progress features include points, a leaderboard-style system, and virtual-home elements. Sweepy’s App Store description also says the leaderboard can be turned off, which matters if competition creates pressure rather than motivation.

The US App Store listing retrieved for this article shows a $3.99 monthly subscription and a $19.99 annual subscription, plus a three-day trial that converts to a subscription unless canceled. It lists compatibility with iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac with Apple silicon, and Apple Vision, requiring iOS/iPadOS 15.1 or later. The available evidence here does not independently confirm Android availability, so Android users should check the current official listing before choosing Sweepy.

Best for dividing chores and rewards: Nipto

Nipto is best understood as a household chore-allocation and reward app rather than a traditional cleaning-maintenance planner. It lets households customize chores, assign points, track participation, use weekly scoring and leaderboards, and create rewards.

That makes it a natural choice when the central problem is unequal contribution: couples arguing about who does more, roommates needing visible accountability, or parents creating age-appropriate chores and goals for children. Nipto’s official site says it supports Android and iOS, while its US App Store listing provides the iPhone-specific details.

The US App Store listing observed on August 18, 2026 showed Premium options of $1.99 monthly, $17.99, and $12.99 annually. The labels and prices may vary by storefront or promotion, so check the purchase screen before accepting an offer.

Choose Nipto if you:

  • Need contribution tracking more than dirtiness-based prioritization.
  • Want points, weekly goals, bonuses, or rewards.
  • Are coordinating children, roommates, or multiple adults.
  • Want a visible record of participation.

Nipto may not suit you if you:

  • Live alone and only need a quiet cleaning checklist.
  • Want room-by-room maintenance logic or urgency indicators.
  • Dislike scorekeeping or do not want chores framed as competition.

Tody vs. Sweepy vs. Nipto: which model fits?

If your main question is… Start with… Why
What should I clean next? Tody Its flexible indicators prioritize work by need and elapsed maintenance.
How do I build a routine from nothing? Tody or Sweepy Both provide structured task systems; Tody is more flexible, while Sweepy is more visual and schedule-oriented.
How do we make everyone contribute? Sweepy or Nipto Sweepy emphasizes shared schedules; Nipto emphasizes points and participation.
How do we stop arguing about who did more? Nipto It is specifically designed around contribution tracking and rewards.
Do I want fixed daily assignments? Sweepy Its generated daily schedules are more explicit than Tody’s flexible model.
Do I want irregular chores handled sensibly? Tody Its need-based approach is better suited to seasonal and variable-frequency tasks.
Do I want points or rewards? Nipto Points, weekly scoring, bonuses, and rewards are central to the product.
Do I dislike gamification? Tody It provides game-like motivation but is less centered on leaderboards and rewards.
Do I need Android? Tody or Nipto Tody has retrieved iOS and Android listings; Nipto’s official site states Android and iOS support. Verify current availability before purchase.

No app measures domestic labor perfectly. A completed task may conceal planning, shopping, childcare, standards of quality, or physical effort. Before using points or assignments, agree on what “done” means and how often each task should happen.

Are these apps free?

All three have a free entry point or free-to-download listing, but “free” does not necessarily include household sharing, synchronization, advanced features, or unlimited use.

  • Tody: Its official site lists a free single-user plan and Premium from $9.99 per year.
  • Sweepy: The US App Store listing shows $3.99 monthly or $19.99 yearly, with a three-day trial that automatically converts unless canceled.
  • Nipto: Listed as free with in-app purchases; the observed US Premium prices should not be treated as universal.

How to set up a cleaning app without making cleaning more stressful

  1. Start with the rooms you use every day. Do not build a complete catalog of every cupboard and baseboard.
  2. Add five to ten essential tasks. Begin with a daily reset, kitchen cleanup, bathroom maintenance, floors, laundry, and trash.
  3. Set realistic frequencies. A schedule that is slightly less ambitious but sustainable is more useful than an ideal plan that constantly shows overdue work.
  4. Add one seasonal or occasional task. Examples include windows, HVAC filters, oven cleaning, or pet-area cleaning.
  5. Choose the right motivation. Use visual progress, a timer, or personal goals if competition is distracting. In Sweepy, turn off the leaderboard if necessary.
  6. Decide who maintains the system. A shared app still needs someone to correct frequencies, add seasonal work, and remove irrelevant tasks.
  7. Try it for two weeks. Review what was missed, then reduce, combine, or reschedule tasks.
  8. Add household members only after the basic routine works. More users and more tasks can increase friction before they improve accountability.

For people who prefer visual structure, small tasks, optional notifications, automatic prioritization, or timed challenges may make task initiation easier. These features may help with executive-function difficulties, but no cleaning app treats ADHD or any other medical condition.

When a cleaning app is the wrong tool

Use a calendar or reminders app when…

You already use Apple Reminders, Google Calendar, Microsoft To Do, or another task system and mainly need recurring alerts for fixed-date work. This avoids another account and subscription, although you will need to build the cleaning list yourself.

iRobot Roomba 415X Robot Vacuum & Mop Combo, 20,000Pa, 90 Days Self-Emptying, Multifunction Dock Self-Cleaning & Hot Dry, Smart Obstacle Avoidance, Lifting Spinning Mops, Ideal for Pet Hair
  • CLEAN FLOORS EVERY DAY—WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT. The Roomba Plus 415X vacuums and mops in one run, stopping crumbs, dust, and spills before they turn into stuck‑on messes. With 20,000 Pa and DualClean mop pads, your floors stay visibly clean from morning and night.
  • NO MORE SCRUBBING DRIED‑ON MESSES. SmartScrub applies extra pressure exactly where messes are stubborn—breaking down dried food, muddy paw prints, and kitchen splatter, so you never have to scrub by hand again.
  • REACHES THE PLACES DIRT USUALLY HIDES. A 46% slimmer design* fits under more furniture, while extending brushes pull debris from edges and corners—so dust doesn’t collect where traditional robots miss. *Compared to Roomba 105
  • GREAT FOR HOMES WITH PETS. Tangle‑free rubber brushes capture pet fur without clogging, eliminating constant stops to cut hair off the brush.
  • EVERY CLEAN STARTS WITH A FRESH MOP—NOT YESTERDAY’S DIRT. The AutoWash Dock washes and heat‑dries mop pads at 113°F after every run, preventing odors and buildup so floors aren’t cleaned with yesterday’s dirt.

Use a paper checklist or whiteboard when…

Your household has low technology adoption, children need a physical chart, or you want a simple weekly rotation without accounts, notifications, or paid features.

Use a general task manager when…

You want cleaning tasks alongside errands, work, and personal projects. The trade-off is that a general task manager may treat every chore as a deadline and require more setup.

Hire professional help when…

The problem is lack of labor rather than lack of organization—for example, deep cleaning, move-out cleaning, physically demanding work, or specialized sanitation. An app can help maintain a home between visits, but it cannot substitute for a cleaning service.

What these apps do—and do not—tell you

These products primarily organize, schedule, prioritize, and track cleaning. They may suggest chores or provide preset rooms, but they should not be treated as authoritative guidance for chemical compatibility, disinfecting procedures, mold remediation, sewage or biohazard cleanup, appliance-specific maintenance, or chemical safety.

For specialized work, follow the product label, appliance manufacturer’s instructions, public-health guidance, or advice from a qualified professional. Never rely on a task reminder alone to decide whether bleach, ammonia, or another chemical is safe to use.

Privacy and household data

Before inviting household members, review the app’s privacy policy and the relevant store disclosure. App Store privacy labels are developer disclosures, not independent privacy certifications. The Sweepy listing identifies categories including contact information, user content, identifiers, usage data, and diagnostics. Nipto’s listing discloses contact information, identifiers, usage data, and diagnostics among its categories. Data practices can differ by platform and change after updates.

Final recommendation

Choose Tody if you want the best flexible maintenance system, especially as a solo user. Choose Sweepy if your household wants a visual room-based schedule and shared daily workload. Choose Nipto if the real issue is chore accountability, points, and rewards. If any of those systems feels like another obligation, a recurring checklist, whiteboard, timer, or professional cleaner may be the more effective choice.
