The $80 Ring bundle in the headline was a Best Buy promotion reported on May 23, 2024—not a price you should assume is still available. It paired a Ring Smart Video Doorbell with a Ring Indoor Security Camera, but the report did not identify their exact generations. Ring now lists different bundles, including a wired option at $69.99 and a battery-powered option at $89.99. Check the current listing and the recording-subscription cost before buying.

What was in the $80 Ring deal?

Android Headlines reported on May 23, 2024, that Best Buy was selling a bundle with one Ring Smart Video Doorbell and one Ring Indoor Security Camera for $80. The article gave a regular combined price of $160. That comparison is the 2024 report’s figure, not a verified current price. Read the original deal report.

The generic product names do not establish the devices’ model numbers, generations, power type, resolution, or included accessories. Do not assume the bundle is equivalent to a current Ring package just because both contain a doorbell and indoor camera.

Is the $80 offer still available?

The available information does not verify that Best Buy still sells the exact $80 bundle. Treat it as a historical deal unless Best Buy’s live listing confirms the same products and price. A search result or old article headline is not enough to establish current availability.

Before ordering, check the retailer listing and cart for the exact models, price, stock, shipping or pickup options, seller, and any color or membership restrictions. Confirm whether it includes only the two devices or also a Chime, batteries, or power accessories. If the listing redirects to a newer product, it may no longer be the original deal.

What coverage do two devices provide?

Front-door activity

A doorbell camera can help you see visitors and activity near the entrance, receive motion notifications, open a live view, and talk through a compatible device. It covers the doorway—not the rest of the property. Its usefulness also depends on placement, Wi-Fi, power, and the exact model.

One indoor room

The second camera adds a view of one interior area, such as a living room. The 2024 report described its indoor camera as offering 1080p video, two-way talk, a siren, and app access; because it did not establish the exact model, those specifications should not be assumed for a current or replacement camera. The original report is the basis for that description.

Together, the devices provide two viewpoints, not a complete alarm or monitored security system. They do not automatically add cameras for other outdoor areas, window and door sensors, local video storage, backup internet, cellular connectivity, or guaranteed emergency response.

What works without Ring Protect?

Ring says its doorbells can provide live video and let users respond to doorbell notifications without a subscription, but videos and photos are not saved for later viewing without a plan. That distinction matters: you may be able to open a live view when an alert arrives, but recording history to review a missed event is a different feature. Ring advertises a 30-day Ring Protect trial with eligible doorbell or camera purchases, subject to its stated eligibility conditions. Ring’s doorbell information has the current details.

Current U.S. plan prices

Plan Price Coverage described by Ring
Ring Solo $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year One doorbell or camera
Ring Multi $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year All devices at one location
Ring Pro $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year Additional intelligent and response features
Virtual Security Guard $99 per month Separate service; check Ring’s plan details for terms

These are current U.S. prices shown on Ring’s plans page; confirm the terms before subscribing. For a two-device setup where both cameras need recording, Multi is the relevant price comparison: its annual fee is $99.99, more than the original bundle’s $80 hardware price. Ring says recording history can be retained for up to 180 days under current plans; access depends on an active plan, and Ring says recordings become unavailable if a plan does not continue after a trial or existing subscription.

Doorbell power

A battery model avoids doorbell wiring but needs charging or battery replacement; battery life varies with conditions and use. A wired model depends on compatible existing wiring and an adequate transformer, so check the specific model’s requirements rather than assuming any old doorbell circuit will work. The 2024 bundle’s power type is not established.

Indoor camera and network

The current Indoor Cam Plus requires a standard power outlet and 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi. Ring recommends at least 5 Mbps upload speed for optimal performance for that camera. The current Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen) also uses 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi; Ring recommends at least 10 Mbps upload speed for 2K devices. These requirements describe the current products, not the unidentified devices in the 2024 offer. See Ring’s current bundle specifications.

  • Check signal strength where the doorbell and camera will actually sit; exterior walls, metal doors, distance, and network congestion can weaken or delay alerts.
  • Confirm your router exposes a compatible 2.4-GHz network. A 5-GHz-only setup may not work with these current products; mesh-band steering can also complicate setup.
  • Make sure there is an outlet near the intended indoor-camera position.
  • If the exact listing names different models, check those models’ own power and network requirements.

Protect household privacy

An indoor camera can capture household members, visitors, and private conversations. Place it where people understand monitoring may occur; avoid bedrooms, bathrooms, guest rooms, and other sensitive spaces. The current Indoor Cam Plus listing describes a removable lens cover for privacy when the camera is not in use. Check the current camera details.

  • Decide who needs access to the Ring account and shared footage, and secure the account accordingly.
  • Consider how cloud recording, retention, and a lapsed subscription fit your household’s privacy expectations.
  • Do not treat camera alerts as a substitute for sound locks, lighting, an appropriately designed alarm, or emergency services.

Who is this kind of bundle for?

A reasonable fit

  • You want a view of the front door plus one indoor room, rather than whole-home coverage.
  • You are comfortable with app-connected cameras and, if you want saved recordings, a recurring cloud-plan fee.
  • You have reliable 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi and a practical power source for the indoor camera.
  • You have compatible wiring for a wired doorbell, or are willing to manage battery charging for a battery model.

A poor fit

  • You require local recording with no recurring fee, multiple outdoor viewpoints, or cellular backup.
  • You want a professionally monitored alarm; a camera bundle alone does not provide guaranteed monitoring or emergency response.
  • You do not want an indoor camera connected to a cloud service, or cannot place it in a suitable, understood location.
  • You need to cover more than one entrance or area. Two devices leave other doors, windows, garages, and outdoor spaces outside their view.

Bottom line on the Ring $80 bundle

The May 2024 $80 offer could have been a low-cost way to add a doorbell view and one indoor camera, but its exact models and present availability are not established. Do not buy on the strength of the old headline. Compare today’s Ring listings against your wiring, privacy, Wi-Fi, and recording needs—and include any Ring Protect fee in the cost if you need footage saved for later.
