Short answer: The Yamazaki Home Tosca Dish Rack is The Spruce’s current best overall choice for a normal countertop because it is roomy, well organized, attractive, and suitable for everyday dishes and cookware. Its main flaw is that the tray collects water instead of sending it through a drain spout. For a lower-cost setup, choose the Rubbermaid Dish Drainer only after budgeting for its separately sold drainboard. Choose the OXO if storage is the priority, the simplehuman for heavy loads, or the Sanno for direct in-sink drying.
The title needs one important update: The Spruce’s current guide is “The 8 Best Dish Racks The Spruce Has Tested,” not six. The live article was updated July 30, 2026, and now includes eight recommendations. Prices and stock can change, so use the figures below as displayed-price snapshots rather than permanent prices.

The eight picks at a glance
The right rack depends less on its appearance than on where water goes, how much counter space it occupies, and what you wash by hand. A rack that works well for plates may be frustrating for Dutch ovens, stemware, cutting boards, or tall travel mugs.
| Pick | Best for | Displayed price | Approximate dimensions | Drainage and storage | Main drawback |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yamazaki Home Tosca | Best overall | $98 | 19 x 13 x 8 in. | Removable tray; stays on the counter | Tray has no drain spout |
| Rubbermaid Dish Drainer | Best value | $40 at Amazon; lower prices may appear elsewhere | Verify the exact large/white version | Drainboard sold separately | Not a complete draining setup out of the box |
| OXO Good Grips Aluminum Fold Flat | Best for small spaces | $47 | About 9.55 x 14.25 x 16.25 in. as listed by The Spruce | Two levels; folds flat | Less suitable for large cookware |
| Umbra UDRY | Best dish-drying mat | $19 | 24 x 18 x 1.5 in. for the standard version | Microfiber mat and removable rack; folds | Large counter footprint when open |
| simplehuman Steel Frame | Best for pots and pans | $100 | 12.2 x 20.1 x 16.1 in. | Swivel spout drains into sink | Expensive and more difficult to clean |
| Sanno Over Sink | Best in-sink rack | $31 | Adjustable; for sinks up to about 22 in. wide | Drains directly into sink | Requires a sink at least 12 in. deep; no cup tines |
| Surpahs Roll-Up | Best roll-up rack | $27 | 20.5 x 15.5 in. for the extra-large version | Rolls for storage; used over sink | High weight rating but limited dish capacity |
| Chef’n DishGarden | Best design | $24 | 13.25 x 13.25 x 6.25 in. | Angled rack with silicone drain spout | Utensil cups lack drainage holes |

1. Yamazaki Home Tosca Dish Rack: best overall
The Yamazaki Home Tosca is the strongest all-purpose countertop choice in The Spruce’s current lineup. It is roomy enough for normal household loads and can accommodate pots, pans, cutting boards, travel mugs, plates, bowls, baby bottles, and everyday utensils. The rack includes a removable silverware holder and a drainage tray, while its wooden side handles can hold a kitchen towel.
What The Spruce found
The Spruce describes the Tosca as roomy, easy to clean, and suitable for regular household use. The writer also reports using it at home for more than two years. That is useful ownership context, but it is an individual experience rather than a controlled durability test or a guarantee that every unit will last that long.
Specifications and drainage
The Spruce lists the rack at 19 x 13 x 8 inches, with steel, wood, and ABS resin construction. On its product page, Yamazaki lists a 10-kilogram load capacity, a maximum plate diameter of approximately 24 centimeters, and a tray heat limit of 90°C. The linked manufacturer page is not a U.S. retail listing, so confirm regional availability and the specifications for the exact version before ordering. A U.S. listing is available through Yamazaki Home.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe tray contains water but does not direct it through a spout. You will need to empty or wipe it, particularly after a large load. That makes the Tosca a better lifestyle and organization choice than a technically optimized direct-drain system.
Who should buy it
Choose it if the rack will remain on the counter, you want room for cookware as well as plates, and appearance matters. Skip it if every inch of counter space is valuable, if you need water to drain straight into the sink, or if you do not want to give the wood components any care. Keep the wooden portions dry between cleanings and avoid prolonged soaking unless Yamazaki’s care instructions permit it.
2. Rubbermaid Dish Drainer: best value
The Rubbermaid Dish Drainer is the practical budget option, but its headline price can be misleading because the tested rack does not include a drainage tray. The Spruce tested the white metal-wire version, which has 13 plate slots, a removable silverware cup, deep slots for large dinner plates and thicker stoneware, rubber feet, and side tines that can hold glasses.
The accessory that changes the value calculation
For a countertop installation, most buyers will want the matching Rubbermaid drainboard or another suitable base. Rubbermaid describes its drainboard as sloped, dishwasher-safe, BPA-free, rust-free, and designed to direct water toward the sink. The official listing gives dimensions of 13.81 x 18.25 x 2 inches.
That means the real comparison is not simply “$40 rack versus $98 rack.” It is the rack price plus the current price of the drainboard, along with the larger combined footprint. A towel or drying mat can serve as a temporary base, but it may leave the counter wet and does not provide the same sloped drainage path.
Who should buy it
This is a good choice for a first apartment, studio, rental, or anyone who already owns a drainboard. The Spruce found it easy to clean with water and dish soap, and the rubber feet help prevent movement. It is a particularly sensible choice for plate-heavy loads and thick stoneware.
Skip it if you need a complete direct-draining system immediately, regularly wash tall stemware or oversized cookware, or are comparing total cost without including the base. Retailers may use different names, colors, and dimensions, so identify the exact large/white version tested. A retailer listing for the rack is available through Home Depot.
3. OXO Good Grips Aluminum Fold Flat Dish Rack: best for small spaces
The OXO Good Grips Aluminum Fold Flat Dish Rack is the best fit for a kitchen where the rack must disappear after use. Its two-level aluminum frame folds completely flat and can also function as a flat draining board for smaller loads. Raised ridges lift dishes above pooled water, and the removable utensil cup can be positioned on either side.
What it does well
The Spruce highlights the rust-resistant aluminum frame, non-slip feet, fold-flat storage, and flexible utensil-cup position. The two levels provide more organization than a flat mat while allowing the rack to be stored in a cabinet or another narrow location after washing.
Rank #2
- Space-Saving Design: The dish drying rack (15.2” L x 11.2” W x 5.7” H) fits perfectly in the kitchen with limited space. It holds up to 10 plates, bowls, and cups while keeping your counter dry and organized. Say goodbye to clutter in your small kitchen or apartment!
- Rapid-Drain System: This dish drainer features an angled drip tray and a draining spout that channels water directly into the sink. No more puddles or soggy counters—enjoy faster drying and a cleaner workspace. Easy to store, small in size. Tips: Water may not drain smoothly if the sink edge is above the counter.
- Rust-Resistant Material: Made from high-quality, rust-proof, sturdy and stable metal, this dish rack resists rust, corrosion, and wear. Easy to rinse and maintain, the sturdy construction effortlessly holds all your dishes and cups.
- Assembly without Tools: Easy to setup, with such a simple structure, you can easily assemble the dish rack drainer together. Just following the help of the installation manual, no tools included!
- Removable Utensil Holder: Features a removable utensil holder with 3 separate compartments to keep your cutlery neatly sorted and right at your fingertips. No more cluttered utensils—everything has its place. Suitable for various occasions.
There is an important distinction between small when stored and small while operating. The rack still occupies a meaningful countertop footprint when open, and The Spruce found it less suitable for larger cookware. It is better for plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, and ordinary utensil loads than for Dutch ovens, wide frying pans, or large mixing bowls.
Dimensions and version confusion
The Spruce lists approximate dimensions of 9.55 x 14.25 x 16.25 inches. OXO’s current product listing describes unpackaged dimensions of approximately 16.4 x 14.6 inches. Those figures appear to use different measurement conventions, so measure the current SKU and check both its open and folded dimensions before buying. Do not confuse this Fold Flat model with OXO’s separate Good Grips Aluminum Dish Rack.
Buy it if storage flexibility is more important than maximum cookware capacity. Skip it if your usual washing-up load includes large pots and pans or if the open rack would collide with upper cabinets, cabinet doors, a pull-down faucet, or under-cabinet lighting. The Spruce displayed a price of about $47.
4. Umbra UDRY Rack and Microfiber Dish-Drying Mat: best mat system
The Umbra UDRY is not simply a shorter dish rack. It combines an absorbent microfiber mat with a removable plastic rack, giving you both deep plate slots and an open surface for items that do not fit well in conventional slots. The Spruce describes the rack as having 20 designated plate slots.
Best use case
The open mat area works well for pots, pans, cutting boards, unusual cookware, and hand-wash-only items. You can reposition the rack on or off the mat, use the full surface for a mixed load, and fold the system for storage. The rack component is dishwasher-safe, while the mat is machine-washable, according to the product information cited by The Spruce and Umbra.
The standard UDRY listing from Umbra gives dimensions of 24 x 18 x 1.5 inches. That is a substantial area when fully open, even though the system stores more easily than a rigid rack. Umbra also sells versions with different dimensions, including mini or regional variants, so do not transfer the standard model’s measurements to another listing.
The hygiene trade-off
A microfiber mat absorbs water rather than sending it into a sink. That can keep a small load from dripping across the counter, but the mat must be washed and dried thoroughly. A damp mat folded or left against a wall can develop mildew or mold more readily than an open wire rack. In a humid kitchen, the cleaning routine is part of the product’s cost and effort.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Choose the UDRY for irregular cookware, low-profile storage, and mixed loads. Skip it if you want maximum airflow, direct drainage, or the smallest possible operating footprint. The Spruce displayed a price of about $19, but the official Umbra page showed an unavailable or backordered status for at least one color when checked.
5. simplehuman Steel Frame Dish Rack: best for pots and pans
The simplehuman Steel Frame Dish Rack is the heavy-duty, feature-rich option. It has a steel frame, a wine-glass rack for up to four large glasses, side hooks for mugs and cups, and a removable three-compartment silverware holder. Its most useful feature for a countertop near the sink is the swivel drain spout, which can direct water into the sink from different orientations.
Drainage and construction
simplehuman says the spout can be removed for cleaning. The company also describes a hydrophilic coating on the tray that spreads water to promote faster evaporation. That is a manufacturer design claim, not a published comparative drying-time test. The standard model carries a five-year warranty according to the manufacturer.
The Spruce lists dimensions of 12.2 x 20.1 x 16.1 inches. Although the front-to-back measurement may seem manageable, the rack is tall and long, and it needs to be positioned so the swivel spout actually reaches the sink. A drain spout does not help if the rack sits too far from the basin or the faucet and counter geometry prevents the correct orientation.
Rank #3
- Made of sturdy, eco-friendly, and easy-to-clean bamboo. Surface special treatment. No crack, no deformation.
- Multiple Function: Good as drying rack, it fits many sizes of plates. The plates drip dry so you will do not need to waste time to dry them with a towel. Also you can use it as a dish rack for storage of cutting boards or plates, or to organize cups, or to hold lids or even books/ tablets/ laptop/ etc.
- Easy to install: 18 vertical bamboo pegs (9 on either side) create 8 slots for plates or pot lids., the two long racks and two pegs, each rack have two holes. To make sure it will connect each pieces more tighter, it is minus tolerance design. When install, push the pegs into side racks with a little big pressure, then the whole rack will be tight. Please check the size of the Bamboo Wood Rack on my pictures before you purchase it.
- The weight is light, the size is convenient for a compact kitchen, small counter space. Very Sturdy to hold 8 pcs dishes/ lids/ etc, and one plate/lids/etc per slot.
- Easy to wash, mild soap and water; Dry thoroughly.for extended life of tray use bamboo oil occasionally .
Cleaning and value
The extra holders and moving parts provide useful capacity for heavy mixed loads, but they also give water and residue more places to collect. The Spruce found this model more difficult to clean than simpler designs. At about $100, it is most defensible for households that hand-wash frequently and need support for cookware, stemware, mugs, and many utensils.
Choose it for a large household or a busy kitchen with a suitable sink-side counter. Skip it for a narrow counter, occasional dishwashing, or anyone who wants a minimal-maintenance rack. The manufacturer’s standard product page showed the model as temporarily sold out when crawled, so check simplehuman’s current listing before purchase. More drainage and cleaning detail is available in simplehuman’s dish-rack guide.
6. Sanno Over Sink Dish Rack: best in-sink option
The Sanno Over Sink Dish Rack saves counter space by using the sink as its drainage area. It is adjustable for sinks up to approximately 22 inches wide, has stainless-steel construction, and uses non-slip rubber arms and feet. When positioned correctly over the basin, water drains directly into the sink instead of pooling on the countertop.
Measure before ordering
The Spruce says the sink must be at least 12 inches deep. You should also measure the interior width, the supporting ledges, the bowl shape, and the location of the faucet, drain, and garbage disposal. A double-bowl sink may not provide a stable or useful span, and an over-sink rack can interfere with faucet access or washing a large item.
Recommended Free Tools
The Spruce says the Sanno can hold approximately seven large plates, eight coffee cups, several pots and pans, and utensils. It does not have dedicated cup tines, so glasses and mugs are less secure than they are in a rack designed specifically for them. The rack can also sit on a countertop, but that use requires a separate drainage solution and removes much of its main advantage.
Choose the Sanno when counter space is the limiting factor and you have a compatible deep, preferably single-bowl sink. Skip it if you cannot verify the measurements, if your sink has shallow or uneven ledges, or if you regularly dry delicate stemware.
7. Surpahs Over the Sink Multipurpose Roll-Up Rack: best for occasional use
The Surpahs Roll-Up Dish Drying Rack is the easiest model in this group to put away. Its silicone-wrapped steel rods roll up for drawer or cabinet storage and allow the rack to serve as a drying surface, trivet, cooling rack, produce-rinsing platform, or temporary prep surface.
Capacity is not the same as load rating
The Spruce lists a support capacity of up to 80 pounds, but that does not mean the rack holds 80 pounds of well-organized dishes. The rods provide less structure than deep plate slots, so plates may be harder to position securely and utensils can fall between them. It is better for occasional loads, rinsed produce, or a few pots and pans than for a large family dish load.

Those are manufacturer specifications, and the fit applies to the extra-large model—not automatically to every Surpahs size.
Choose it if the rack must disappear into a drawer or if you want a multipurpose surface. Skip it if you need stable slots for many plates, secure stemware support, or a conventional countertop rack. Clean the silicone-wrapped rods carefully so food residue does not remain around the joints.

8. Chef’n DishGarden Dish Rack: best design
The Chef’n DishGarden is the most visually distinctive option. Its circular footprint and angled design direct water toward a silicone drainage spout, and it can hold plates, cups, bowls, baking sheets, cutting boards, and utensils. Two repositionable utensil holders let you adapt the layout for a counter or sink.

The Spruce lists dimensions of 13.25 x 13.25 x 6.25 inches. That compact, round footprint can work well on a small square of counter, but it may waste space on a long, narrow surface where a rectangular rack would use the available area more efficiently.
The overlooked design flaw
The Spruce notes that the utensil cups do not have drainage holes. Water and residue can therefore remain inside the cups unless they are emptied and cleaned separately. Chef’n says the top rack is dishwasher-safe and the product is BPA-free; confirm which components are included in that dishwasher claim before placing the complete assembly in a dishwasher.
Choose the DishGarden if you dislike the appearance of ordinary rectangular racks or need a flexible, compact design with a drain spout. Skip it if utensil drainage and easy cleaning are more important than appearance. The official Chef’n listing showed the product as sold out when checked, and its displayed official price differed substantially from the older price shown by The Spruce.
How The Spruce tested the racks
The Spruce says it tested 20 dish-drying racks at home for more than 50 hours. Its stated evaluation criteria were:

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose a dish rack for your kitchen
1. Decide whether the rack will live on the counter
A permanent rack should justify its footprint every day. The Yamazaki and simplehuman are the most countertop-oriented choices: they provide useful capacity but occupy a fixed area. The OXO and Umbra are better if the rack needs to be stored between uses. The Surpahs takes the least storage space because it rolls up, though it also provides the least conventional plate organization.
Measure the rack’s width, front-to-back depth, and height while loaded. Also check the space needed to remove a tray or utensil holder. A rack can fit beneath cabinets when empty but collide with a cabinet door, pull-down faucet, or under-cabinet light when loaded.
2. Prioritize the drainage method
In practical terms, drainage systems generally rank as follows:
- Direct drainage into the sink: a spout or an over-sink design, as with the simplehuman, Sanno, and Chef’n when correctly positioned.
- A sloped drainboard reaching the sink: the Rubbermaid rack paired with its separate drainboard.
- A contained tray: the Yamazaki, which catches water but must be emptied or wiped.
- An absorbent mat: the Umbra UDRY, which requires washing and thorough drying.
- No supplied drainage base: the Rubbermaid rack by itself.
A contained tray is not necessarily bad; it can be useful when the rack cannot sit beside a sink. But standing water creates opportunities for mineral deposits, slimy residue, and overflow. If you live in a hard-water area, inspect trays, spouts, silicone channels, and mat fibers regularly and clean them according to the manufacturer’s care guidance.
3. Match capacity to the dishes you actually wash
- Mostly plates, bowls, mugs, and utensils: Rubbermaid, OXO, or Chef’n.
- Large pans, cookware, and cutting boards: Yamazaki, simplehuman, or Umbra’s open mat area.
- Wine glasses and stemware: simplehuman has the most explicit dedicated support; ordinary plate slots are not a substitute for secure glass holders.
- Irregular or hand-wash-only items: Umbra’s open mat is more adaptable than a tightly slotted rack.
- Occasional dishes: Surpahs or OXO, because both are easier to store.
- Knives: do not lay sharp knives loosely across an open rack. Use a stable, dedicated knife-storage location that prevents the blade from sliding.
Nominal capacity can be deceptive. A rack may technically fit a certain number of plates but have no practical room left for tall mugs, thick stoneware, a large pan, or a cutting board. Usable capacity is the combination of slot depth, clearance, stability, and the types of items you wash together.
Best Value
- Large Capacity: Dimension: (12.2" to 21.7") Width x 16.4" Depth x 6.7" Height. Equipped with an extendable drying rack that fits over the sink, SNTD's dish drying rack features a 2-in-1 design, doubling the storage space to hold 10 plates, 12 bowls, 6 glasses, 1 pan, and silverware. Just say goodbye to cluttered countertop and enjoy a tidy and organized kitchen.
- Effective Drainage: With an angled drip tray and a draining spout(6.06"-8.54"), our dish drainer directs water into the sink, not onto the counter. The heightened leg attachments are specifically designed to complement sinks with lips, offering a solution where other dish racks may fall short in efficiently draining water into the sink, preventing potential leaks or water pooling on the countertop.
- Adjustable Extension Feet: The drying rack over sink features 2 expandable feet, easily accommodating different sinks. The built-in fence ensures secure drying of large stuff on the rack and prevents them from tipping or sliding into the sink. (Tip: Please make sure the width of your sink is less than 21.2 inches before purchasing in case of incompatibility.)
- Rustproof Material: Made of premium metal steel guardrail, coated wire and anti-fingerprint PP drip tray, our dish drying rack is anti-rust and can serve for a long time, while the rubber coated feet ensure it stays in place without scratching your countertop.
- Wide Application: Our drying rack includes a removable 3-compartment utensil holder for efficient silverware drying, a dish rack, an extension part, easily accommodating all kinds of kitchen items, keeping them in place and easy to find. SNTD's dish rack is a space-saving solution for drying essentials while keeping them organized.
4. Confirm sink compatibility for over-sink models
Before buying the Sanno or Surpahs, measure:
- Interior sink width and opening width.
- Sink depth and the width of the supporting ledges.
- Whether the bowl is single or divided.
- Faucet position and handle clearance.
- Whether the rack would block the drain or garbage disposal.
- Whether the rack can sit level on both sides of the sink.
The Sanno requires a sink at least 12 inches deep according to The Spruce and is designed for sinks up to approximately 22 inches wide. The Surpahs extra-large model is listed by its manufacturer for sinks up to approximately 19.5 inches wide. These are model-specific limits, not universal over-sink standards.
5. Consider the material and its maintenance
- Stainless steel: strong and appropriate for heavy loads, but not automatically rust-proof. Welds, exposed edges, coatings, and standing water still matter.
- Coated metal wire: relatively affordable and lightweight. If the coating chips, exposed metal can become a corrosion point.
- Aluminum: lightweight and resistant to rust, but generally a better fit for ordinary dish loads than very heavy cookware.
- Plastic: easy to clean and immune to rust, but it can crack, chip, warp, or discolor.
- Wood accents: attractive but not maintenance-free. Keep them dry and do not leave them soaking.
- Microfiber: absorbent and foldable, but it needs regular washing and complete drying to reduce mildew risk.
The Spruce excluded bamboo from its final recommendations because it says bamboo requires additional care to last. That does not mean every bamboo rack fails; it means buyers should not treat bamboo as a maintenance-free alternative to plastic or metal.

Cleaning, water, and failure points
Prevent water pooling
Inspect beneath the rack as well as inside the tray. Water can collect under feet, beneath utensil cups, inside drainage channels, or at the point where a tray meets the counter. Empty contained trays before they overflow, wipe the surface underneath, and clear drainage paths when residue or mineral deposits appear.
Keep mats and cups dry
An absorbent mat should be washed and fully dried rather than simply wiped in place. Enclosed utensil cups can also stay damp. The Chef’n cups’ lack of drainage holes is an explicit example, while the Umbra mat requires a different maintenance routine from an open wire rack.
Do not overread “rust-resistant”
Rust-resistant describes a material or finish’s intended behavior; it is not the same as a promise that rust can never occur. Avoid leaving any rack in standing water, especially around joints, welds, exposed edges, or chipped coatings. Follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions for the exact model.
Clean complicated racks more often
The simplehuman’s holders, spout, tray, and accessories increase its usefulness but also add components that need attention. Its removable spout is an advantage because it can be cleaned separately. By contrast, simpler open racks generally offer fewer places for residue to hide. Convenience at loading time can create more work at cleaning time.

- For Rubbermaid, add the separate drainboard to the total cost and footprint.
- For over-sink racks, measure sink width, depth, ledges, bowl shape, and faucet clearance.
- Check whether the exact version is standard, mini, extra-large, regional, or a retailer-specific color.
- Verify current stock before relying on a recommendation: simplehuman, Umbra, and Chef’n showed availability limitations on official pages when checked.
- Check which parts are dishwasher-safe; a dishwasher-safe rack does not necessarily mean every tray, cup, spout, or mat is dishwasher-safe.
- If you have hard water, plan for regular inspection of trays, spouts, silicone channels, and mat fibers.
- Choose dedicated support for wine glasses and never leave sharp knives loose across a rack.
Final ranking
The Yamazaki Home Tosca is the most balanced choice for a household that keeps a dish rack on the counter and wants room for both dishes and cookware. The simplehuman is the better technical fit for heavy, frequent loads when its large footprint and price are acceptable. The Sanno is the cleanest counter-space solution if your sink meets its measurements.
The Rubbermaid is a good value only when its separate drainboard is included in the calculation. The OXO wins when fold-flat storage matters most, while the Umbra is the most flexible mat-based option for irregular cookware. The Surpahs is ideal for occasional use and compact storage, and the Chef’n is the most distinctive-looking choice—but its utensil cups and availability deserve caution.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is The Spruce’s current list six dish racks or eight?
The current page is titled “The 8 Best Dish Racks The Spruce Has Tested.” It was updated July 30, 2026. The six-product title refers to an earlier version and should not be used to describe the current lineup.
Which dish rack has the best drainage?
For direct drainage, choose a rack that can send water into the sink: the simplehuman uses a swivel drain spout, while the Sanno and Surpahs drain directly into the sink when used over a compatible basin. The Chef’n also has a silicone drainage spout. The Yamazaki contains water in a tray but does not have a spout.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Is the Rubbermaid Dish Drainer a complete setup?
No. The tested Rubbermaid rack does not include a drainage tray. Most countertop users should add the separately sold Rubbermaid drainboard or another suitable base, then compare the combined price and footprint with complete rack systems.
Are dish-drying mats more hygienic than racks?
Not automatically. A mat is convenient and easy to store, but it absorbs water and can remain damp. Wash it and let it dry completely to reduce mildew and odor. An open rack generally offers more airflow, while a mat can better accommodate irregular cookware.
How do I know whether an over-sink rack will fit?
Measure the sink’s interior width, opening width, depth, ledges, bowl shape, faucet position, and drain or garbage-disposal clearance. The Sanno requires a sink at least 12 inches deep and is intended for sinks up to approximately 22 inches wide. The Surpahs extra-large model is listed for sinks up to approximately 19.5 inches wide.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Buy the Yamazaki Home Tosca for the best all-around countertop experience, the simplehuman for heavy cookware and direct drainage, or the Sanno for a compatible deep sink. Choose the OXO, Umbra, or Surpahs when storing the rack matters more than maximum capacity. Treat the Rubbermaid as a rack-plus-drainboard purchase—not a complete $40 solution—and verify current stock and the exact product version before ordering.
