1. OXO Cold Brew Coffee Maker: best overall
The OXO is the best all-round choice for a household that wants repeatable concentrate without the compromises of a basic pitcher. Its Rainmaker lid distributes water over the grounds, while an automatic stop feature is designed to reduce dripping when the carafe is removed.

- Ultra-Fine Mesh Filter:Made from premium 304 stainless steel with a 100 micron weave, this filter ensures smooth, coffee grounds-free cold brew in your cold brew pitcher. It also strains tea leaves, fruit pits, and other residues, making it perfect for iced tea and various beverages. Removable and versatile, the filter doubles as a storage container for other drinks.
- Sturdy Sealing: Our liquid pitcher features a sturdy sealing system to keep your drinks fresh and prevent leakage. The leak-proof spout and sealing ring securely isolate the mason jar pour spout from the inside and outside, preventing food odors from affecting the taste. You can store your drinks with confidence, knowing that they will stay fresh and leak-free, even when the pitcher is lying down.
- Easy to Clean:Cleaning the wide mouth jar is quick and easy. Simply put some mild soapy water into the used jar and shake to get rid of any residue. If the residue is stubborn due to a long time of use, you can even put your hand inside to clean it. With such easy cleaning, nothing can stop you from concocting a healthy and delicious drink.
- Convenient Design:The water jug is designed with convenience in mind. The flip lid won't fall down when pouring, making it easy to use without causing drips or splashes. The spout is designed to prevent leaks and keep everything clean. The handle is sturdy and comfortable, able to withstand the weight of a full jug and easily shake settled juices to mix evenly. You won't have to worry about the handle being deformed or leaking.
In the cited testing, it produced smooth, balanced concentrate. The carafe holds 32 ounces of concentrate, which Good Housekeeping says can make approximately 14 cups after dilution. That figure is not 14 ready-to-drink ounces: the final yield depends on how strongly the concentrate is diluted.
- Strengths: balanced flavor, reusable stainless-steel filter, measurement markings, dishwasher-safe glass carafe.
- Trade-offs: relatively large, more expensive than a pitcher, and the brewing reservoir reportedly does not include a dedicated storage lid.
- Buy it if: consistency matters more than the lowest price.
- Skip it if: you want coffee brewed and stored in one compact pitcher.
2. Takeya Deluxe Cold Brew Coffee Maker: best value
The Takeya Deluxe is the practical budget pick. It is a straightforward immersion brewer that can remain in the refrigerator and be poured from directly, making it better suited to ready-to-drink batches than to highly concentrated café-style coffee.
Good Housekeeping reported near-perfect laboratory scores and found that its fine-mesh filter limited gritty particles without disposable paper filters. It is available in 1-quart and 2-quart sizes and can also be used for iced tea.
- Strengths: inexpensive, dishwasher-safe, simple to use, refrigerator-friendly, no recurring paper-filter requirement.
- Trade-offs: plastic construction and no measurement markings, so a scale or measuring cup improves repeatability.
- Buy it if: you want an uncomplicated everyday pitcher at a low purchase price.
- Skip it if: you require glass, precise built-in measurements, or exceptionally fine filtration.
3. OXO Compact Cold Brew Coffee Maker: best for small spaces
The OXO Compact is designed for one drinker, a dorm, or a small refrigerator. Its components nest for storage, and its listed dimensions are approximately 5.2 by 5.3 by 8.6 inches. The stated capacity is 23.7 ounces.
The cited home-use evaluation found rich concentrate with no noticeable sediment. Its limitation is output: households with several daily coffee drinkers may need to brew repeatedly. It costs more than many basic pitchers despite making a smaller batch.

- Strengths: small footprint, nesting storage, strong concentrate, limited reported sediment.
- Trade-offs: small batch and less favorable value for high-volume use.
- Buy it if: refrigerator clearance is your main constraint.
- Skip it if: you regularly serve several people.
4. KitchenAid Cold Brew Coffee Maker: best for easy pouring
The KitchenAid combines a glass vessel with a stainless-steel brewing component, an oversized lid knob, and a controlled pour spout. Its 28-ounce listed capacity and refrigerator-friendly design make it appealing to buyers who care about presentation and serving convenience.
Good Housekeeping found the concentrate smooth and flavorful after a 12-hour steep. However, this is not the easiest model to maintain. It is not dishwasher-safe, and its crevices make cleaning more involved. The fill line is also less precise than weighing coffee and water.

- Strengths: attractive glass design, controlled pouring, useful brewing instructions and recipes.
- Trade-offs: difficult cleanup and a relatively high price for its capacity.
- Buy it if: pouring control and materials matter more than dishwasher convenience.
- Skip it if: you want the simplest cleanup routine.
5. Toddy Cold Brew System: best for low sediment
Choose the Toddy when a clean, silky cup matters more than minimal effort or ongoing cost. It uses reusable felt filtration together with paper filtration, and Good Housekeeping found that the system produced rich concentrate with little sediment.
In the cited recipe, 12 ounces of coffee and approximately 54 ounces of water produced nearly four cups of concentrate—roughly eight servings after dilution, depending on serving strength. The system uses a separate brewing container and concentrate container, so it is less convenient than a pitcher that brews, stores, and pours from one vessel.
- Strengths: very low sediment, clear instructions, rich concentrate.
- Trade-offs: more handling, more cleanup, less polished appearance, and recurring paper-filter expense.
- Buy it if: grit is your biggest complaint about cold brew.
- Skip it if: you want no disposable consumables or a single storage vessel.
Good Housekeeping estimated replacement paper filters at about $1 each. Treat that as an approximate cost signal: current pack prices and compatible filter availability should be checked before purchase.

The DASH is the choice for someone unwilling to wait overnight. Good Housekeeping reported that it produced cold brew in under 10 minutes during testing, with minimal sediment. It has a reusable filter, a 40-ounce listed capacity, and can also brew tea.
That speed comes with meaningful compromises. DASH is the only electric model among these six picks, requires an outlet, measures approximately 8 by 7.5 by 16 inches, and weighs about six pounds according to the cited test article. Good Housekeeping also reported that its testers generally preferred the deeper flavor of non-electric methods over electric models.

- Trade-offs: power dependence, large footprint, limited markings, and a premium price.
- Buy it if: same-day cold brew is more important than traditional overnight extraction.

Cold brew versus iced coffee
Cold brew extracts coffee in cold water over an extended period, or through a specialized rapid process. Iced coffee is usually hot-brewed coffee that is cooled or poured over ice. They differ in extraction time, dilution, flavor, and equipment.
Cold brew is not automatically non-bitter, low-acid, or suitable for every digestive condition. Flavor depends on the coffee, grind, ratio, water, temperature, filtration, and extraction time. Medical claims about reflux or acidity require separate scientific or medical evidence.
Which type of cold brew maker is right for you?
Immersion brewers
Immersion makers keep grounds in cold water for many hours. They are usually simple and inexpensive. Takeya and KitchenAid are the clearest pitcher-style examples here. Their main advantages are low complexity and, in Takeya’s case, convenient refrigerator storage.

Controlled-release systems
Release-style designs let water contact the grounds before coffee drains into another vessel. OXO and Toddy are often grouped in this category, although their internal designs and filtration methods differ. They can improve workflow and filtration but may require transferring or storing the finished concentrate separately.
Electric rapid brewers
Electric models use powered agitation or accelerated extraction to reduce waiting time. They add electrical dependence, mechanical complexity, cleaning considerations, and counter space. They solve a timing problem, not necessarily a flavor problem.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Capacity: do not compare the numbers blindly
A vessel’s nominal capacity is not the same as finished ready-to-drink coffee. Grounds occupy space, filtration removes some liquid, and concentrate is normally diluted before serving. A small concentrate batch may produce more servings than its vessel size suggests, while a large pitcher may make a weaker ready-to-drink batch.
For a useful estimate, calculate:
finished servings = concentrate volume × dilution factor ÷ serving size

How to choose by cleanup, storage, and recurring cost
- Easiest cleanup: Takeya’s dishwasher-safe design is the simplest starting point.
- Moderate cleanup: OXO has more components, but its glass carafe is dishwasher-safe.
- Most involved manual cleanup: Toddy requires handling felt and paper filtration.
- Most cumbersome among these six: KitchenAid, because it is not dishwasher-safe and has crevices.
- Storage: Takeya is designed to stay in the refrigerator as a pitcher. OXO and Toddy use separate brewing and concentrate vessels. KitchenAid emphasizes refrigerator storage and controlled pouring.
- Recurring cost: Toddy’s cleaner filtration requires paper filters. Electric DASH may also add small electricity costs, but its larger financial considerations are purchase price and replacement components.

Brewing time and common problems
Weak or watery coffee
Common causes include too little coffee, an excessively coarse grind, insufficient steeping, an overfilled filter, uneven water distribution, or too much dilution. Use a scale and follow the product’s recipe before changing several variables at once.
Bitter or harsh coffee
Overlong steeping, a too-fine grind, excessive agitation, an overly strong ratio, or a poorly matched dark roast can create harshness. Cold brew can still taste bitter when extraction is poorly controlled.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteToo much sediment
Fine grounds, mesh filtration, grounds escaping around the filter, pouring the final portion, or a damaged or poorly seated filter can increase sediment. Toddy is the strongest choice here because its cited setup combines felt and paper filtration.
Leaks or drips
Check filter seating, valves or stoppers, lid gaskets, carafe alignment, fill level, and whether the lid is intended for brewing or storage. Do not interpret an isolated consumer complaint as proof of a product-wide defect.
Refrigerator fit
Measure shelf height, not only width. Tall designs can be difficult to place upright: Good Housekeeping lists the full OXO at approximately 14.75 inches high and DASH at 16 inches.
Final recommendations
Choose the OXO Cold Brew Coffee Maker for the most balanced overall workflow. Choose the Takeya Deluxe when price and pitcher convenience matter most. Choose the OXO Compact for a small refrigerator or one drinker. Choose KitchenAid for premium materials and controlled pouring, but not easy cleanup. Choose Toddy for the least sediment, accepting paper-filter costs. Choose DASH only when rapid, same-day brewing justifies its power requirement, footprint, and price.
