What the 2024 roundup reported
The clearest US cordless pick in the roundup was the Shark Detect Pro, listed at Amazon for $179 against a stated prior price of $379.99. TechRadar described it at the time as a new historic low. That description applies to the November 2024 offer, not to today’s market.
Other US examples included the high-end Dyson Gen5detect and Shark PowerDetect. In the UK, offers ranged from cordless sticks to an upright and a bagged cordless model. The table records the figures as TechRadar reported them; none should be read as a current price.

Which vacuum type fits the cleaning job?
For deep cleaning, carpet, or pet hair
Hamilton’s roundup notes that a corded upright can offer more outright suction, a larger bin, and uninterrupted runtime than a cordless stick. Those strengths may matter for substantial carpet, ingrained dirt, or frequent pet-hair cleanup. The trade-offs are greater weight and less maneuverability, so consider storage, stairs, and how often you need to carry the machine.
For portability and quick cleanups
A cordless stick favors easy handling and access around a home, but battery runtime is a limit that a corded model avoids. Compare the exact model and bundle rather than assuming that similarly named versions include the same attachments or battery.

For less hands-on bin emptying
A self-empty dock transfers debris from the vacuum’s onboard bin into a larger container, reducing how often you empty it manually. The roundup presents this as useful for reducing dust exposure during disposal. Check what the particular dock empties and what ongoing consumables its exact variant requires; the 2024 offers alone do not establish compatible part numbers.
For routine floor maintenance
Robot vacuums can maintain floors with regular light cleaning, but the roundup cautions that they are weaker against ingrained dirt and cannot clean stairs or furniture as a manual vacuum can. Treat a robot as a maintenance tool, not a full replacement if those areas are part of the job.

How to assess a vacuum offer today
The 2024 list can help identify models and trade-offs, but it cannot tell you whether an offer is good now. Before buying, check current retailer information directly and verify the variant in the product listing.
- Match the exact model name and variant. Similar product names may refer to different bundles, docks, or included tools.
- Compare what is included. Check attachments, battery, charging or auto-empty dock, and any bags or other consumables relevant to that model.
- Check today’s price and stock with the retailer. The reported retailer and offer in a November 2024 article do not establish present availability.
- Choose for your floors and cleaning routine. Weigh carpet and pet hair, stairs and furniture, desired runtime, bin handling, and ease of maneuvering before treating a discount as the deciding factor.
What these historical prices can—and cannot—show
