Reviewed retained the Tiki as its pick for most people after retesting it against current smokeless competitors in 2026. Reviewed describes a 16-gauge stainless-steel body, an installed ash pan, and a 43-pound weight. Its listed dimensions are 24.75 × 24.75 × 18.75 inches.
In Reviewed’s test, the fire was easy to start and clean up. The tester observed a tall flame at first that evened out after a few minutes; a wood pack burned for roughly 25 minutes in the described use. Treat those as the reviewer’s observations, not a promised burn time or a result every user will reproduce. Bob Vila chose the Bonfire 2.0 as its best overall, citing its smokeless design, durable construction, and suitability for small gatherings. Its comparison lists the unit at 19.5 inches in diameter, 14.3 inches high, and 23.3 pounds. Those figures come from Bob Vila’s guide and should not be treated as directly comparable test results against Reviewed’s Tiki measurements.
Bob Vila’s roundup also names the Tiki as its easy-clean pick, the Fireside Outdoor Pop-Up Pit as its portable option, and the Solo Stove Infinity Flame Propane Fire Pit as its best smokeless choice. Outdoor Gear Lab’s March 2026 guide instead names the Solo Stove Yukon 2.0 its pick for most people. Different winners reflect different categories and review methods, not a single agreed ranking. Best for decks: Cuisinart Chimenea Propane Fire Pit
Bob Vila identifies the Cuisinart Chimenea Propane Fire Pit as its deck pick. Propane is worth considering if you want to avoid hauling and storing firewood and dealing with ash. It does require a compatible tank and gas hardware, including a hose and regulator, and you’ll need to plan for tank refills and eventual replacement. “Deck pick” does not mean every deck is suitable: confirm the required clearances and surface conditions in the specific product manual, and check local fire restrictions before use.

If you want the wood-fire atmosphere and higher heat in Reviewed’s specific comparison, wood is the closer fit, with smoke and cleanup as trade-offs. If avoiding wood smoke and ash and getting a readily lit flame matter more, propane may fit better, provided the tank and hardware are practical for your space.

What “smokeless” does—and does not—mean
Smokeless describes reduced smoke under a particular design and test context; it does not guarantee that a fire will produce no smoke. It also does not make a fire safe to approach closely or remove the need to position chairs thoughtfully. Reviewed’s Tiki tester reported a strong flame and noted that seating distance still matters.

- Measure the space: Compare the fire pit’s dimensions with the actual usable area, not just the yard as a whole. Account for the room needed around it and for people to move safely.
- Consider weight and portability: The Tiki’s listed weight is 43 pounds, while Bob Vila lists the Bonfire 2.0 at 23.3 pounds. Weight is one factor in moving a unit; shape, accessories, and how often you plan to relocate it matter too.
- Plan for ignition and assembly: Check what setup the model requires and whether it includes the components you need. For propane, verify tank compatibility and the included or required gas hardware.
- Be realistic about maintenance: Wood-burning models require ash cleanup and suitable fuel. Propane models avoid ash but still require attention to the tank and gas connections as directed by the manufacturer.
- Compare value by what is included: Prices, inventory, and configurations change. Check the current listing and confirm whether the accessories or fuel components you need are included.
Placement and safety: use the manual and local rules
There is no single clearance that applies to every fire pit and jurisdiction. Before lighting one, consult its product manual for placement, surfaces, clearances, and operation, and check current local fire restrictions. A review category such as “best for decks” does not override either requirement.

One separate warning applies to specific tabletop products, not conventional wood- or propane-burning patio pits. On July 16, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission urged consumers to stop using and dispose of Houswise pooled-alcohol tabletop fire pits, including Vesper, Altair, Quad, and Astra. The agency reported at least 53,500 units, more than two dozen reports, and seven injuries, including third-degree burns. It warns that pooled alcohol or similar liquid fuels in open tabletop containers can cause spreading pool fires, while refilling near a flame can cause flame jetting. Read the CPSC warning. Follow the agency’s instruction for those named products: stop using them and dispose of them; do not sell or give them away.
