Samsung’s First Look at CES 2026: What Its AI Ecosystem Means for Phones, TVs, and Appliances

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Samsung’s CES 2026 First Look was not primarily a new-phone launch. Held on January 4 at the Wynn Las Vegas, the event presented Samsung’s broader “Your Companion to AI Living” strategy: Galaxy devices, TVs, refrigerators, laundry systems, robot vacuums, wearables, and SmartThings-connected products working together as a more context-aware ecosystem.

The most concrete announcements concerned 2026 TVs and displays, AI-enabled appliances, and health and home scenarios coordinated through Galaxy devices. Some products were announced or demonstrated rather than confirmed for immediate retail sale, and Samsung says availability varies by country, language, model, software version, service provider, and subscription.

The short version

  • TVs: Samsung showed a 130-inch Micro RGB television, the S95H OLED, expanded Vision AI features, HDR10+ Advanced, Eclipsa Audio, and seven years of Tizen OS upgrades.
  • Appliances: A Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub used expanded AI Vision features with Google Gemini-related integration. Samsung also demonstrated AI laundry, garment care, and robot-vacuum functions.
  • Phones: Galaxy devices were presented mainly as control points and personal-health hubs—not as the centerpiece of a Galaxy S-series launch.
  • The unanswered question: Samsung’s demonstrations show how devices could share context, but they do not yet prove that buying an entire Samsung ecosystem will reliably reduce household work.

Samsung’s official event recap is available in its Global Newsroom announcement. Because CES 2026 is now a past event, the claims below distinguish between products shown, products announced, and products independently verified as available.

What was Samsung’s First Look at CES 2026?

The First Look 2026 took place in the Latour Ballroom at Wynn Las Vegas on January 4, 2026. Samsung organized the presentation around “companion” zones, including Entertainment Companion, Home Companion, Care Companion, and an AI Gallery.

Aeotec Smart Home Hub2 - V4, Works as a SmartThings Hub, Zigbee, Matter Gateway, Compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, WiFi (No Z-Wave)
  • Powered by SmartThings: Connect, monitor, and automate your home through the SmartThings app. Build a reliable, unified smart home using Samsung's proven ecosystem
  • Matter + Zigbee Smart Home Hub: Supports the newest Matter standard plus Zigbee for lighting, sensors, plugs, switches, thermostats, and more - thousands of compatible devices. PLEASE NOTE: Z-Wave not supported
  • Easy Setup with Wi-Fi or Ethernet: Get started in minutes using Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet connection for apartments, houses, and expanding smart home systems - Z-Wave not supported
  • Automations That Work for You: Create custom routines for security, lighting, comfort, and energy savings. Many local automations continue working even if your internet goes offline
  • Wide Device Compatibility: Connect compatible smart devices from Aeotec and many other brands to build a unified system for lighting, voice control, energy management, and climate settings

The strategy was broader than placing a chatbot in each product. Samsung wants devices to exchange information and respond to circumstances: a TV can help with content and home control, a refrigerator can track food, a phone and wearable can provide health and sleep context, and SmartThings can coordinate compatible appliances and sensors.

That is an ambitious proposition, but the practical experience depends on compatible hardware, accounts, network access, regional services, permissions, and software support. A connected home is not automatically an intelligent or dependable home.

Samsung’s 2026 TVs: AI becomes part of the viewing interface

Micro RGB and the 130-inch demonstration model

Samsung exhibited a 130-inch Micro RGB TV and said the model received a CES Innovation Awards 2026 Best of Innovation award. The display was used to demonstrate Vision AI and hands-free requests, including sports predictions, recipes, and music.

Micro RGB is primarily a display-technology story, not an AI feature. The 130-inch model should not be treated as proof that every Samsung television has the same panel technology or capabilities. Samsung’s later business material also refers to R95 and R85 Micro RGB lines in multiple sizes, but an exhibition model and a retail lineup are not necessarily identical.

The S95H OLED and broader TV lineup

Samsung announced a new S95H OLED alongside new Micro RGB models and expanded Vision AI functionality. The company also announced:

  • HDR10+ Advanced, with claimed improvements in brightness, genre-based optimization, motion smoothing, local tone mapping, and gaming.
  • Eclipsa Audio across the 2026 TV lineup.
  • Seven years of Tizen OS upgrades for TVs.

Samsung lists HDR10+ Advanced compatibility for the QN990H, R95H, S95H, S90H, S85H, LS03HW, LS03H, and QN80H. Model names, feature support, and availability should be checked for the buyer’s market.

Seven years of Tizen OS upgrades is not automatically a promise of seven years of every app, AI function, security update, or hardware-service availability. It is also not a guarantee that a future service will remain compatible with today’s television.

  • Automate connected devices in your home and set them to turn on or off when doors are opened, people come and go, and much more
  • Works with a wide range of smartphone compatible products

What “AI TV” can mean in practice

Depending on the model and market, Samsung’s demonstrations point to several user-facing functions:

  • Voice-controlled content and information searches.
  • Recipe, sports, and music queries.
  • Picture and sound optimization.
  • Motion handling and tone mapping.
  • SmartThings-connected home control.
  • Use of the TV as an entertainment and household interface.

The important questions are less glamorous than the demonstrations: does a feature run locally or in the cloud, which account is required, which provider processes a voice request, what languages are supported, and can personalization or voice recognition be disabled? Samsung says Wi-Fi and a Samsung account are required for certain functions, and that availability can vary by country, language, device, operating-system version, service provider, and subscription.

Other display and audio products

Samsung also highlighted its 2026 Odyssey gaming-monitor range, including a first 6K 3D Odyssey G9, new Odyssey G6 and G8 models, the Freestyle+, a transparent Micro LED concept, Music Studio speakers, and the HW-QS90H soundbar.

Independent CES coverage from What Hi-Fi? reported that the HW-QS90H uses 13 drivers and can detect whether it is wall-mounted or placed on a tabletop, then redistribute its drivers accordingly. That is useful design context, but it is not a substitute for comparative listening tests, pricing, or confirmed local availability.

The AI refrigerator: inventory management with important limits

The Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub was one of Samsung’s clearest AI demonstrations. Samsung and Google announced expanded AI Vision capabilities with Google Gemini-related integration. Samsung said the refrigerator would recognize a wider range of foods, including some processed foods that do not require separate registration, detect user-labeled foods, and add food stored in personal containers to a food list.

Samsung’s AI Vision announcement establishes the intended functionality, not independent proof of accuracy in ordinary kitchens. Cameras can miss food hidden behind other items, unusual packaging, handwritten labels, transparent containers, or food in poor lighting. Inventory can also become inaccurate when items are moved or consumed without being recorded.

Samsung also demonstrated a Bespoke AI Wine Cellar. Independent coverage from Android Central reported that it could identify wine labels, track bottle locations, update SmartThings AI Wine Manager, provide wine information, and suggest pairings. These should be understood as announced or demonstrated capabilities rather than independently verified real-world performance.

AI laundry, garment care, and robot vacuums

Laundry and garment care

Samsung’s 1Q26 business report records third-generation Bespoke and Bespoke AI Combo laundry products with enhanced customized functions. That supports the product-development story, but it does not establish universal availability, US pricing, repair performance, or drying results in every household.

Bespoke AI Jet Bot Combo

The Bespoke AI Jet Bot Combo was shown in the Home Companion environment. Samsung highlighted camera-based recognition, voice interaction, SmartThings integration, and automation intended to reduce routine cleaning work.

The limitations matter. Samsung says liquid-spill identification depends on factors including spill size, floor pattern, color, lighting, and environmental conditions. Its pet recognition is limited to cats and dogs and may vary with an animal’s posture, position, and living environment. Samsung defines a qualifying liquid spill as at least 7 cm by 7 cm and 15 ml.

In practice, a robot vacuum’s AI should be treated as an aid rather than a guarantee. Dark or reflective floors, clutter, poor lighting, unusual objects, network outages, and camera obstructions can all affect results.

Where phones fit into the strategy

Samsung’s mobile story at First Look was about orchestration. Galaxy phones and wearables were shown as personal health-data sources, SmartThings control points, and interfaces for home and wellness routines.

Samsung’s exhibition recap referenced the Galaxy Z TriFold in the Care Companion area and described scenarios involving sleep-environment control, exercise and sleep coaching, recipe recommendations, air conditioners, air purifiers, lights, sensors, and connected-device health metrics. The exhibition recap provides the clearest picture of these demonstrations.

Wi-Fi 6 ensures smoother performance even in high-traffic environments, allowing multiple devices to connect without compromising speed or reliability. Note: To ensure a stable connection, place the Hub M100 between 6 to 19 feet from the router.

This should not be described as Samsung unveiling the Galaxy S26 at First Look. Samsung’s later 1Q26 business report lists the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra as 2026 releases, but that is separate evidence from the CES presentation.

Health features also require careful wording. Sleep and exercise suggestions are wellness functions, not diagnoses or guarantees of disease prevention. Their usefulness depends on compatible devices, permissions, software versions, accounts, battery life, and regional availability.

What was actually new?

New or newly emphasized Existing ecosystem expanded
“Companion to AI Living” as the event’s organizing strategy SmartThings device control
Gemini-related integration in kitchen appliances Family Hub food management
Expanded food recognition Galaxy and Samsung Health integration
130-inch Micro RGB TV AI-enabled laundry and robotic cleaning
HDR10+ Advanced and Eclipsa Audio Vision AI and Bixby-style voice interaction
Seven years of Tizen OS upgrades Connected home and wearable scenarios

The most important claims still require independent testing: whether recognition works reliably in messy homes, whether Gemini materially improves refrigerator functions, whether TV AI makes content discovery easier, and whether cross-device coordination delivers enough value to justify buying several products from one manufacturer.

Is Samsung’s ecosystem worth building around?

The answer depends on whether convenience outweighs cost, account dependence, privacy exposure, and vendor lock-in.

Potential benefits

  • One SmartThings environment can simplify control of compatible devices.
  • Galaxy phones and wearables can provide a familiar interface for home and health routines.
  • Cross-device context may reduce repeated manual setup.
  • Longer advertised TV software support may extend the useful life of compatible models.

Potential drawbacks

  • Buying several Samsung products can cost more than choosing the best product in each category independently.
  • Features may require Samsung or Google accounts, Wi-Fi, permissions, or subscriptions.
  • AI recognition can fail with unusual objects, poor lighting, clutter, or stale data.
  • Regional restrictions may prevent an advertised feature from working in a buyer’s country or language.
  • Software updates can change, limit, or discontinue connected features.
  • Privacy and repair concerns become more significant as cameras and microphones enter more rooms.

A practical buying checklist

For TVs and sound systems

  • Compare panel technology, room brightness, viewing distance, gaming features, and picture quality before prioritizing AI.
  • Confirm the exact model’s HDR10+ Advanced, Eclipsa Audio, Vision AI, and Tizen support.
  • Check account, Wi-Fi, voice, language, and privacy requirements.
  • Do not assume seven years of Tizen upgrades means seven years of every app or hardware service.
  • Confirm local pricing and availability rather than relying on CES demonstration material.

For appliances

  • Ask whether the AI solves a problem you face repeatedly.
  • Check camera placement, manual overrides, account requirements, and SmartThings compatibility.
  • Consider food recognition failure with leftovers, packaging, containers, labels, and poor lighting.
  • Confirm dimensions, installation, repair access, and regional support.
  • For robot vacuums, consider floor color, clutter, pets, mapping data, maintenance, and likely false positives.

For phones and wearables

  • Confirm compatible Galaxy, One UI, Samsung Health, SmartThings, and wearable versions.
  • Review health-data permissions and whether a feature is informational rather than medical.
  • Check whether the phone or wearable can operate independently when the phone is unavailable.
  • Compare the ecosystem benefit against buying a phone, TV, appliance, or wearable independently.

Verdict

Samsung’s strongest CES 2026 idea was not simply putting AI into every product. It was making devices share context: the TV understands entertainment requests, the refrigerator manages food information, the robot vacuum interprets its surroundings, and Galaxy devices connect household activity with personal routines.

That vision is more meaningful than a collection of isolated AI labels, but First Look demonstrations do not prove dependable automation. Samsung’s “Companion to AI Living” is best understood as an ecosystem direction, not a guarantee that every appliance will work like an autonomous assistant. Buyers should judge each product on its core performance first, then treat cross-device AI as a potential bonus—after confirming the exact model, country, account requirements, privacy controls, and availability.
