Samsung’s 2026 Music Studio range consists of two mains-powered Wi-Fi speakers designed to look more like furniture and interior objects than conventional black-box audio equipment. The Music Studio 5 (HW-LS50H) costs $299.99 in the U.S., while the more capable Music Studio 7 (HW-LS70H) costs $499.99.
The key difference is purpose: the Music Studio 5 is the smaller, simpler lifestyle speaker, while the Music Studio 7 adds side- and up-firing drivers, 3.1.1-channel audio and stronger Samsung TV integration. Neither should be mistaken for a battery-powered portable speaker or a complete surround-sound package with separate rear speakers and a subwoofer.

What Samsung announced
Samsung introduced the Music Studio 5 and Music Studio 7 as part of its 2026 home-audio lineup, first previewed ahead of CES 2026 and formally announced for the U.S. on April 6, 2026. The products were developed with French designer Erwan Bouroullec around Samsung’s circular “Dot Design” language.

Samsung’s design goal is to make the speakers suitable for visible locations such as shelves, mantels, TV consoles and side tables. That does not make them invisible: their circular shapes and perforated fronts are deliberately distinctive. Samsung says the perforation serves both as an acoustic component and as a visual texture.

What the Music Studio 5 does
Samsung describes the Music Studio 5 as a compact 2.0-channel Wi-Fi speaker with a 4-inch woofer, dual tweeters and a built-in waveguide. The waveguide is intended to spread sound through the room, while Samsung’s AI Dynamic Bass Control is designed to improve low-frequency output while limiting distortion.
Its U.S. product listing includes wireless music streaming, wireless Dolby Atmos and Q-Symphony support. Those features make it more flexible than a basic Bluetooth speaker, but the 5 remains the straightforward model in the range. It is the more sensible choice for a visible shelf or console where appearance, simpler operation and the lower price matter more than maximum spatial effects.

What makes the Music Studio 7 different?
The Music Studio 7 is a more ambitious audio device. Its 3.1.1-channel layout uses front, side- and up-firing speakers to create a wider and taller sound field from one enclosure. Samsung also lists Dolby Atmos, AI Dynamic Bass Control and high-resolution audio processing up to 24-bit/96kHz.

- TRUE 3.1.1 CH SOUND: Enjoy room-filling 3D sound from a 3.1.1 channel Wi-Fi speaker with front-, side-and up-firing channels, plus a built-in woofer. Pattern control technology helps direct sound, reduces distortion and delivers a clear, enveloping experience throughout your space.
- WIRELESS DOBLY ATMOS: Surround yourself in Dolby Atmos* 3D sound —with or without an HDMI cable. Hear every distinct beat and pulse above and around you, just like in the movies.**
- Q-SYMPHONY: Enjoy a more immersive sound experience by pairing a compatible Samsung TV and up to five Samsung audio devices, such as Soundbars or Wi-Fi speakers, to work together for more robust and detailed sound.*

In plain language, the “3” represents left, center and right/front channels; the first “.1” represents bass handling; and the final “.1” represents the height or up-firing channel. The specification should not be read as a complete discrete surround system. The Music Studio 7 does not include a separate wireless subwoofer or rear speakers, according to Samsung’s cited specification sheet.
Samsung also specifies a super tweeter capable of reaching frequencies up to 35kHz. That is a driver capability, not a guarantee that the complete system produces audible output to that frequency or that every listener will hear better sound. Similarly, Dolby Atmos support does not guarantee the same result as physically separated front, center, overhead and rear speakers.
Room geometry matters. Ceiling height, wall reflectivity, placement and source material can all affect up-firing and side-firing effects. Samsung’s specification material also cautions that sound quality varies with environmental characteristics.
Samsung TV and SmartThings integration
The strongest reason to consider either Music Studio model is Samsung’s ecosystem integration. Both support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and Samsung promotes SmartThings control, music streaming and group playback. The Music Studio 7 can operate as a standalone speaker or participate in a compatible Samsung TV and soundbar system.
Samsung’s Q-Symphony technology lets compatible Samsung televisions work with compatible Samsung sound devices at the same time. Samsung says 2026 Q-Symphony can support up to five compatible sound devices, although the cited regional specification sheet gives different limits by television generation: up to five devices with 2026 models, three with 2023–2025 models and one with 2020–2022 models.

Those figures are not a universal promise for every Samsung television. Compatibility can depend on the TV’s production year, model family, soundbar, region and firmware. Some models, including The Serif and The Sero in the cited documentation, are excluded. Check the specific TV and speaker documentation before buying.

Some AI-related features are also limited to selected Samsung TV models. Q-Symphony may require a Samsung account and a Wi-Fi connection, depending on the configuration.
Streaming and control features
Samsung confirms Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, SmartThings and Wi-Fi casting in its materials. Spotify Tap is included in Samsung’s U.S. announcement. A regional Music Studio 7 specification sheet also lists Spotify Connect and Google Cast.
Because those features can vary by market and model, buyers should verify the U.S. product page and manual rather than assuming every regional specification applies everywhere. AirPlay should not be treated as confirmed on the evidence available here.

The design may be visually flexible, but the audio is not placement-independent. Avoid putting the Music Studio 7 inside a tightly enclosed cabinet or blocking its side- and up-firing areas. A shelf or mantel can look appropriate while still interfering with dispersion.

Music Studio versus Music Frame
Music Studio is not simply a confirmed replacement for Samsung’s Music Frame. Music Frame is designed to resemble wall art or a picture frame, while Music Studio uses a circular, sculptural form intended for tabletop or furniture placement.
The Music Studio 7 also places greater emphasis on spatial audio and Q-Symphony. The Music Studio 5 is closer to a compact lifestyle speaker. Samsung has not been shown to have announced that Music Studio discontinues or replaces Music Frame.
U.S. price and availability
Samsung’s U.S. product pages showed list prices of $299.99 for the Music Studio 5 and $499.99 for the Music Studio 7 when checked on August 18, 2026. The pages showed delivery and store pickup as unavailable at that time. That status may reflect ZIP-code, inventory or page-state conditions; it should not be interpreted as a nationwide discontinuation.

Which model makes sense?
Choose Music Studio 5 if:
- You want a smaller speaker that looks intentional on a shelf or console.
- Your main uses are music, podcasts, television and occasional movies.
- You want Samsung Wi-Fi features at the lower price.
- You do not need the Music Studio 7’s side- and up-firing architecture.
Choose Music Studio 7 if:
- You want a more immersive single-speaker TV setup.
- You own, or plan to buy, a compatible Samsung TV or soundbar.
- Q-Symphony expansion is important to you.
- You value its additional speaker channels and published high-resolution processing.
- The additional $200 fits your budget.
Consider neither if:
- You need battery portability.
- You want a conventional stereo pair or the broadest cross-platform multiroom support.
- You do not own compatible Samsung hardware and do not need Q-Symphony.
- You expect a single enclosure to replace a complete soundbar, subwoofer and rear-speaker system.
- You require independent measurements before judging sound quality.
The bottom line
Samsung’s Music Studio speakers are most compelling for households that want visible, design-led audio without abandoning Samsung’s TV and SmartThings ecosystem. The Music Studio 5 is the simpler and less expensive lifestyle speaker; the Music Studio 7 is the better fit for Samsung owners seeking more spatial television sound from one unit.
The design is the differentiator Samsung can establish immediately. Claims about superior sound, complete surround performance or broader compatibility require independent testing and model-specific verification. For buyers outside Samsung’s ecosystem, conventional stereo speakers, a platform-neutral multiroom system or a soundbar with a subwoofer may deserve closer comparison.
