Which refrigerators and phones work?
Samsung says the Smart Forward Family Hub features targeted refrigerator models produced from 2017 onward. That is not a guarantee that every Family Hub refrigerator sold since 2017 is compatible. Eligibility can depend on the exact model, country, firmware, and rollout status.
You generally need:
- A Samsung refrigerator with a Family Hub touchscreen.
- A model eligible for the relevant Smart Forward update.
- A compatible Samsung Galaxy phone. Samsung’s qualification does not extend this integration to every Android phone or to iPhone.
- Wi-Fi on both devices.
- A Samsung account, with the phone and refrigerator using the same login account.
- Updated Quick Share software and Family Hub software or apps.
- Quick Share visibility enabled on both devices.
A Samsung refrigerator without a Family Hub screen is not covered by this photo-to-display feature. Samsung’s separate Quick Remote feature supports selected refrigerators, including some models without Family Hub, but it is not the same thing as sending photos with Quick Share.

How to send a photo to Family Hub
- Connect the Galaxy phone and refrigerator to Wi-Fi.
- On the phone, open Galaxy Store → Menu → Updates → Update all to update Quick Share and related Samsung software.
- On the refrigerator, open All apps → Update all to update available Family Hub apps. Also install any available refrigerator software update.
- Open a photo on the Galaxy phone.
- Tap Share, choose Quick Share, and select the Family Hub refrigerator when it appears.
- Accept the transfer on the refrigerator if prompted.
Exact labels and confirmation screens may differ by Galaxy model, One UI version, Family Hub software, and region. Samsung’s support instructions provide the update and visibility paths, while the normal transfer begins from the phone’s photo-sharing controls.

On the Galaxy phone, go to Settings → Connect devices → Quick Share → Allow sharing with → Everyone.
On the Family Hub refrigerator, go to Settings → Connection → Quick Share → Allow sharing with → Everyone.

- Verify that both devices are signed in to the same Samsung account.
- Install all available phone, Quick Share, refrigerator, and Family Hub app updates.
- Turn Quick Share off and on again, then retry with one photo rather than a large batch.
- Restart both the phone and refrigerator.
- Check the refrigerator’s exact model number and country-specific support information.
“Everyone” makes discovery easier but may allow more nearby sharing requests. Once troubleshooting is complete, return to a more restrictive visibility setting if your software provides one.

Quick Share, SmartThings, and Quick Remote are different

Is it worth choosing Family Hub for Quick Share?
For existing Galaxy and Family Hub owners, this is a convenient way to put a recipe or family image on the kitchen display. Its limitations are equally important: it depends on model-specific firmware, Samsung accounts, Wi-Fi, regional availability, and the Galaxy ecosystem.
Quick Share should be treated as an included convenience feature—not a reason by itself to buy an expensive refrigerator or purchase a Galaxy phone. If you are comparing refrigerators, check the exact model’s supported features and software history rather than relying only on the “2017 onward” target range.
