Verdict: The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Pro is a particularly good fit for homes with low sofas, beds, wardrobes, or TV stands, especially when those rooms also contain carpets, rugs, pet hair, or awkward thresholds. Its RetractSense navigation system is a real and useful design improvement: the LiDAR tower retracts beneath low furniture instead of forcing the robot to choose between a conventional raised scanner and a permanently low-profile design.
It is not universally the best robot vacuum. Independent testing points to excellent vacuuming and mapping but less consistent mopping and imperfect avoidance of small objects. Buy it primarily as a low-clearance, carpet-capable vacuum that also mopsโnot as a dedicated stain-removing floor scrubber.

What is the Qrevo Curv 2 Proโs unique navigation trick?
The unusual feature is called RetractSense. In open rooms, the robot keeps its LiDAR assembly raised, where it can scan 360 degrees and build a conventional map. As it approaches low furniture, an upward range finder checks the available clearance and a top contact sensor helps detect impending contact. The LiDAR tower then retracts into the body.
That does not mean the whole robot shrinks. The robot remains a low-bodied machine measuring 350 ร 352 ร 79.8 mm; it is the sensing tower that changes position. Once retracted, the robot uses its alternate sensing arrangementโincluding a reported 100-degree rear view, overhead sensing, structured light, an RGB camera, and lateral VertiBeam lasersโto keep moving under the obstruction. After it exits, the tower can rise again for elevated scanning.

This division of labor is the important idea: conventional LiDAR is retained where it is most useful, while the scanner temporarily gets out of the way where furniture height is the obstacle.
How low can it clean?
Roborock lists a minimum target clearance of 7.98 cm and claims a 100% cleaning success rate in spaces at least that high under its internal testing conditions. Independent coverage describes the practical requirement as roughly 8 cm, or about 3 inches. Treat that as a measurement threshold, not a guarantee that every piece of furniture with an 8-cm gap will be usable.
Measure the lowest point of the furniture, not its average underside height. Also check:
- Central support bars, underside lips, and cross-braces.
- Whether the robot must approach at an angle.
- Loose curtains, furniture skirts, blankets, and cables.
- Whether the robot has enough room to turn and find its way back out.
- Whether the dock-to-room route contains a narrow or awkward entrance.
A gap below 7.98 cm is simply too low for this model. A technically high-enough gap may still fail if it is narrow, cluttered, glossy, irregular, or difficult to approach squarely.
Does it lose navigation accuracy under furniture?
It helps to separate four different jobs that are often compressed into the word โnavigationโ:
- Global mapping: maintaining the floor plan and room map.
- Local positioning: knowing where the robot is beneath a bed or sofa.
- Obstacle avoidance: detecting objects immediately ahead.
- Edge following: tracking walls and furniture without repeatedly bumping them.
The Curv 2 Pro can preserve a strong global map while making an occasional poor local decision. Retractable LiDAR improves access and should help the robot retain more capable sensing in open areas, but it does not make every object or furniture underside easy to interpret. Reflective surfaces, dark objects, loose fabric, and narrow gaps remain potential trouble spots.

RetractSense versus a conventional LiDAR robot
A conventional robot with a fixed turret may map very well but be unable to enter a low-clearance space. A permanently low-profile robot can fit underneath but may rely on a different sensing strategy throughout the home. The Curv 2 Pro attempts to combine both approaches.

Structured light sensors help this robot vacuum and mop combo navigate around cables, toys, and furniture legs, while PreciSense LiDAR mapping creates real-time 3D layouts and supports up to 4 floor plans for seamless multi-level cleaning.
Its likely advantages are practical rather than algorithmically revolutionary:
- It can reach beneath furniture that blocks taller turret-equipped robots.
- It retains elevated 360-degree LiDAR scanning in open rooms.
- It is better suited to homes that combine low furniture with carpets and thresholds.
- Its low body is useful even when the retracting mechanism is not active.
The compromises are equally clear. The mechanism adds complexity, the robot is still nearly 8 cm tall, and retraction cannot solve a gap that is too low or too narrow. A robot may approach, hesitate, enter without finding a comfortable exit, or reverse when the geometry is unfavorable.
Obstacle avoidance: capable, not foolproof
Roborock says the Curv 2 Pro can recognize more than 200 object types, including cables and pet waste, and can detect objects as small as 5 cm wide and 3 cm tall in its specified testing. Its structured-light system and RGB camera are intended to work across different lighting conditions.

That promotional number should not be read as โavoids everything on the floor.โ Tomโs Guideโs testing found that the robot handled taller objects better than some smaller items, including a compact mirror brush and a small toy car. Thin cables, socks, reflective objects, transparent items, shallow bowls, and small toy parts are still sensible things to remove before a run.
Pet-waste recognition is a useful backup, not a reason to leave accidents on the floor. Keep the camera and structured-light sensors clean, use no-go zones around known hazards, and check the appโs obstacle-avoidance settings and firmware. Recognition can vary with lighting, object color, camera cleanliness, and regional software.
AdaptiLift, carpets, and thresholds
The Curv 2 Proโs adaptive chassis can raise its body and wheels to improve carpet contact and help it cross uneven transitions. Roborock claims support for carpets up to 3 cm pile height and double-layer thresholds up to 4 cm under specified conditions. It also claims a 30% higher dust pickup rate on 2-cm long-pile carpet than specified previous Roborock models, using Max+ mode and internal testing.
Those are manufacturer claims, not universal limits. A beveled threshold is easier than a sharp vertical step. A double-layer transition may work in one direction and fail in the other. A narrow approach can prevent the chassis from lining up correctly, and a steep edge may exceed what the nominal height suggests.

(roborock was the first in the robot vacuum industry to mass-produce a product featuring a liftable chassis system with three-wheel control, officially launching this technology in Q3 2024.)
This is nevertheless one of the Curv 2 Proโs strongest hardware combinations: a low body for furniture access, an adaptive chassis for transitions, and enough lift and brush contact to make carpets a priority rather than an afterthought.
Vacuuming performance
Independent testing supports the idea that vacuuming is the Curv 2 Proโs strongest use case. In Tomโs Guideโs test framework, it achieved a combined cleaning score of 93.8. The reported results were:
| Surface | Cereal | Kitty litter | Pet hair |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hardwood | 96 | 98 | 86 |
| Carpet | 95 | 100 | 88 |
These scores belong to Tomโs Guideโs methodology and should not be treated as a universal laboratory standard. They do, however, reinforce the productโs positioning: strong pickup across hard flooring and carpet, with particularly impressive results for litter and dry debris.
Roborock lists up to 25,000 Pa HyperForce suction, but suction-pressure ratings are not standardized across brands and cannot replace pickup testing. The dual anti-tangle design combines the DuoDivide main brush with the FlexiArm Arc side brush. Roborock claims reduced tangling from hair strands up to 40 cm long and zero tangling in its cited tests. Long hair can still collect around brush ends, side-brush bearings, wheels, and the dock tray.
Mopping is the main compromise
The Curv 2 Pro uses dual spinning mop pads and can automatically detach those pads before vacuuming carpet. That is more useful than merely lifting wet pads above the floor: the pads are physically left behind, reducing the chance of dampening or smearing carpets. Tomโs Guide found this helpful in practice.
Roborock lists several strong-sounding specifications: up to 12 N of downward pressure in a specified deep-cleaning mode, up to 200 rpm mop speed under custom settings, and up to 100ยฐC hot-water mop washing. The 100ยฐC figure refers to water used by the dock, not the temperature of the mop or floor during cleaning.
Those features are useful for routine dust, footprints, and light fresh spills. They do not turn the robot into a powered floor scrubber. Tomโs Guide reported inconsistent coverage and weaker results against thicker or persistent stains. A spinning-pad system can also be less effective on dried, sticky marks than a roller-mop design.
The practical verdict is straightforward: buy the Curv 2 Pro for its vacuuming first, then treat the mopping as convenient maintenance cleaning. If aggressive wet cleaning is your priority, a roller-mop alternative such as the Qrevo Curv 2 Flow may be more relevant, although exact regional specifications and prices should be checked.

Dock, dimensions, and maintenance
The dock measures 450 ร 450 ร 450 mm, making it a substantial 45-cm-wide installation. Allow room to open the clean- and dirty-water tanks, remove the dust bag, and access the wash tray. Confirm overhead clearance if the dock sits beneath a shelf.
Automatic washing, drying, re-washing, dust emptying, and mop detachment reduce daily work, but they do not remove maintenance. Expect to:
- Refill the clean-water tank and empty the dirty-water tank.
- Replace the dust bag and inspect filters.
- Rinse the wash tray and clean the drainage area.
- Remove hair from the main brush, side brush, wheels, and axles.
- Wipe the camera, LiDAR cover, range finders, and other sensors.
- Inspect the retractable tower for dust, hair, or debris that could obstruct movement.
One recurring inconvenience noted by Tomโs Guide is the lack of an automatic detergent reservoir. If you use detergent, you must measure it manually rather than relying on a dedicated dosing tank.

Price and regional availability
Prices and support are region-specific. Tomโs Guide reported a UK/European price of ยฃ999, but that is an observed review price rather than a permanent MSRP. Who should buy the Curv 2 Pro?
Buy it if:
- Low furniture is a major cleaning problem.
- Your home has carpets, thick rugs, or awkward room transitions.
- You want dependable mapping and detailed room-by-room controls.
- You prefer mop pads to be physically removed before carpet vacuuming.
- Long hair, pet fur, litter, and dry debris are recurring problems.
- You can accommodate a large dock and do not need automatic detergent dosing.
Reconsider it if:
- Heavy stain removal is more important than vacuuming.
- Your floors are routinely covered with cables, toys, clothing, or small clutter.
- Your furniture is lower than 7.98 cm.
- You need a compact dock.
- You expect camera-based recognition to eliminate pre-cleaning.
- Your countryโs official price, warranty, service, or replacement parts are unclear.
Alternatives worth checking
The Qrevo Curv 2 Flow is the more relevant comparison when roller-mop behavior is the priority. The Saros 10R is worth investigating for buyers focused on a higher-end Roborock platform and obstacle-avoidance positioning. The Qrevo Edge 2 is another newer family alternative, but exact regional hardware, dimensions, prices, and availability require confirmation.
Dreame and Eufy premium models may also appeal to buyers who prioritize obstacle avoidance or roller-mop systems over Roborockโs mapping ecosystem. No alternative should be declared a definitive winner without current, same-method testing.
Final verdict
The retracting LiDAR tower is not just marketing theater. It solves a specific physical problem: the Curv 2 Pro can retain conventional elevated scanning in open areas and then lower its sensing profile to clean beneath furniture that would stop many fixed-turret robots.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThat makes it an unusually compelling choice for low furniture, carpets, thresholds, and pet-hair cleanup. Its limitations are just as important: obstacle avoidance is not flawless with small objects, the dock is large, detergent dosing is manual, and mopping is less convincing against persistent stains. For the right floor plan, it is a clever and highly capable vacuum-first robot. For a home that mainly needs serious wet scrubbing or spotless object avoidance, look elsewhere.
