Dyson now has two fundamentally different robot cleaners in the U.S. The vacuum-focused Dyson 360 Vis Nav remains listed at $999.99 but is currently shown as unavailable on Dyson’s site. The newer Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai adds hard-floor washing, stain detection and a multifunction dock. Its listed price is $1,199.99, although Dyson has also displayed a limited promotional price of $849.99.
That makes the “cheaper than expected” headline fair only with qualification: this is still a premium robot vacuum, not a budget product. The more important news is that Dyson has expanded from one vacuum-first model into a broader vacuum-and-wash floor-care range.

What Dyson launched
The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai wet and dry robot vacuum cleaner is not simply a cheaper replacement for the 360 Vis Nav. It is designed to vacuum carpets and hard floors, wash compatible hard flooring, identify stains and objects, and return to a dock that automates much of the cleanup.
Dyson describes it as its first robot engineered to vacuum all floor types and wash hard floors. Its wet-cleaning system includes a self-cleaning roller, adjustable hydration and a mechanism that lifts the wet roller on carpets. Dyson also says the dry roller retracts to reduce the chance of spreading moisture across carpeted areas.

The price is complicated
Dyson’s U.S. product page has shown a $1,199.99 list price. A separate official Dyson floor-care page displayed the machine at $849.99, reduced from $1,199.99—a $350 discount. These figures were checked on August 16, 2026, and live pricing may change.
Therefore, Spot+Scrub Ai should be described as an $1,199.99 premium robot that may be substantially more compelling during an official promotion—not as a permanently $849.99 product. At either price, it competes with high-end vacuum-and-mop robots rather than inexpensive scheduled cleaners.

Vacuuming and hard-floor washing
The robot vacuums carpets and hard floors, then washes sealed wood, tile, laminate, ceramic, vinyl and linoleum according to Dyson’s stated compatibility information. Users can adjust the amount of water delivered to the wet roller.
“All floors” does not mean every flooring surface is automatically safe. Check the flooring manufacturer’s instructions before using wet cleaning on unsealed wood, damaged seams, porous stone, waxed finishes or any surface that is sensitive to moisture or heat.
Stain detection
Dyson says a green-spectrum light reveals otherwise difficult-to-see dirt and stains while an AI-powered HD camera identifies objects, substances and spills. The robot then selects a cleaning response, can make up to 15 passes over a difficult area and checks whether the stain has been removed before moving on.

The MyDyson app can also be used to trigger a targeted clean and view activity history. Recognition is not a guarantee of perfect avoidance or complete stain removal: dried, oily, pigmented or sticky messes may still require manual cleaning.

The dock is central to the machine’s premium price. Dyson says it automatically:
- Empties dry debris from the robot.
- Refills its clean-water supply.
- Collects dirty water.
- Washes and dries the wet roller.
- Recharges the robot.
Dyson says the dock can hold dry debris for up to 100 days. That is a manufacturer estimate, not a promise that every household will achieve that interval. “Self-cleaning” also does not mean maintenance-free: owners still need to handle water tanks, clean dock surfaces, remove hair and obstructions, check sensors and replace consumables.

Dyson also says the robot recognizes nearly 200 types of household objects, substances and hidden stains, and can cover up to 36 square feet on a single charge before returning to recharge. It can resume larger cleaning jobs after automatic dock returns. Runtime, coverage and recognition will vary with floor type, cleaning mode, navigation and household conditions. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.

The 360 Vis Nav’s advantages are conceptual simplicity, a lower profile and a stronger vacuum-first focus. Dyson lists 22,000 Pa suction, up to 65 minutes of runtime, a full-width brush bar, an automatic side duct for edge cleaning, 360-degree vision and HEPA filtration. However, Dyson’s official page currently says the model is no longer available or out of stock, so its $999.99 price does not necessarily represent an orderable direct-buy option.

Independent testing from RTINGS has highlighted the Vis Nav’s unusual D-shaped design and full-width brush roll while criticizing its navigation relative to competing robot vacuums. That context helps explain why Spot+Scrub Ai uses a broader sensor and navigation system, but it does not prove that the newer robot delivers better carpet cleaning.

Which Dyson robot fits your home?
Choose Spot+Scrub Ai if:
- Your home has mostly sealed hard floors.
- Spills, tracked-in dirt or pet accidents are common.
- Automated mopping matters as much as vacuuming.
- You value automatic debris emptying, water handling and roller drying.
- You want targeted stain-cleaning functions.
- Furniture provides at least about 4.3 inches of clearance.
Consider the 360 Vis Nav if:
- Carpets, pet hair and vacuuming are your main priorities.
- You prefer not to manage clean- and dirty-water tanks.
- Your furniture has roughly 3.9 to 4.3 inches of clearance.
- You find one through an authorized retailer at a substantial discount.
Before buying an older Vis Nav, confirm stock, retailer authorization, warranty coverage and return terms. Dyson’s nominal price is not useful if the machine cannot be obtained or supported at that price.

Low furniture and rugs
Measure clearance rather than relying on product photographs. Spot+Scrub Ai is taller than Vis Nav, and its approximately 4.3-inch requirement may exclude beds, cabinets and sofas that the older model can reach.
Dyson specifically discusses low-pile rugs and carpets. Do not assume that high-pile rugs will transition, avoid moisture or clean reliably without checking the manufacturer’s guidance and the robot’s instructions.

AI recognition may reduce collisions and entanglements, but cables, socks, toys, clothing and pet waste remain failure points for any robot. A quick pre-cleaning pickup is still necessary, especially in homes with pets or young children.
Water and maintenance
More automation creates more parts to maintain. Expect to check or empty dirty water, refill clean water, clean tanks and dock areas, remove hair from rollers and brushes, wipe sensors, clear clogs and replace filters or other consumables. Dyson’s robot-vacuum support page is the appropriate place to confirm model-specific care instructions and accessories.

Do not assume Vis Nav accessory prices apply to Spot+Scrub Ai. Dyson lists Vis Nav examples including a brush bar at $29.99, a HEPA filter at $44.99 and a bin at $39.99, but those parts and prices are not interchangeable evidence for the newer model.
Is the premium justified?
Spot+Scrub Ai’s strongest value is not simply suction. It is the combination of vacuuming, washing, stain-focused cleaning and a dock that handles several unpleasant maintenance tasks. That combination can be attractive for a hard-floor home where spills and daily tracked-in dirt are routine.
The case is weaker for carpet-dominant homes. The newer robot is more versatile, but added wet-cleaning hardware does not automatically make it a superior carpet or pet-hair machine. It also occupies more space, costs more at list price and introduces water-system maintenance.
Established brands including Shark, Roborock, Dreame and eufy also compete in premium vacuum-and-mop categories. Exact current prices, stock and feature parity vary by model and were not verified here, so the safe conclusion is comparative rather than a definitive ranking. Independent coverage, including Tom’s Guide’s review, identifies less expensive alternatives.
Verdict
Dyson’s expansion is meaningful: Spot+Scrub Ai gives the company a vacuum-and-wash platform while the 360 Vis Nav represents the older vacuum-first approach. At $849.99 during the official promotion observed on August 16, 2026, Spot+Scrub Ai is considerably easier to justify; at $1,199.99, buyers should want its stain detection and highly automated dock, not merely a Dyson badge.
It is a promising fit for hard-floor homes that can accommodate the dock and tolerate regular water-system maintenance. It is not a budget robot, not automatically the best choice for carpet-heavy homes, and not a reason to treat the unavailable Vis Nav as a direct equivalent.
