Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) guidance recommends suction-only vacuuming for wool carpets. For specialty or imported rugs, CRI advises following the maker’s care instructions or using a professional cleaner. How long will the carpet take to dry?
There is no consistent drying estimate across the provider’s published pages: its homepage says most carpets are touch-dry in 1–2 hours, while its FAQ says 6–7 hours. Those figures should not be treated as a guaranteed time. What to do about a spill before the appointment
For a fresh spill, CRI advises prompt action and blotting with a dry, white absorbent cloth or plain white paper towel. Avoid scrubbing, which can damage the pile. If using a spot-treatment product, follow its label, use a small amount and test it first in an inconspicuous area. Once the spot is removed, blot with clear water to remove residue.
