They can evoke the warm, collected mood associated with Practical Magic without turning a room into a themed set.
Drozdik, a practicing hearth witch and founder of Hearth Witch Home Co., shared the ideas with Country Living on October 19, 2025. The spiritual meanings below reflect her beliefs and practice; you can also enjoy the same objects purely as seasonal decoration.
1. Put pumpkins and gourds near an entry
Arrange seasonal produce by the hearth, front door, or another entryway. A few pumpkins or gourds bring autumn color to a threshold, and they are easy to remove or replace as the season changes.
Drozdik describes pumpkins and gourds as symbols of abundance and protection in witchcraft. If that symbolism is not part of your practice, they work just as well as natural fall decor.

2. Choose candles for scent and atmosphere
For an autumnal scent, Drozdik suggests clove, apple, or smoke. Choose a fragrance you personally enjoy rather than expecting a particular emotional or spiritual effect. If it feels meaningful to you, pause to set an intention when lighting the candle.
Open flame is not suitable for every room or household. A recent film-inspired design feature suggests battery-operated candles where flame is impractical; they can provide a similar point of warm light without a burning wick. Follow the product instructions for any candle or electric alternative.

3. Bring in dried herbs and spices
Drozdik’s examples include bundles of rosemary, cinnamon, and bay hung above doors. A cinnamon broom is a simpler alternative if you would rather display one ready-made accent than assemble a bundle.
Dried botanicals suit a collected, old-house look and may naturally perfume a room, though the Country Living article does not establish how strong or long-lasting that scent will be. Fresh herbs can be a more changeable seasonal touch; dried bundles and a broom are options when you prefer a display that does not depend on keeping fresh plants. No comparative durability or safety testing is reported, so use and place botanicals with your household’s needs in mind.

4. Warm up a hearth or kitchen with amber and brass
Amber tones and brass details add warmth without requiring a major seasonal makeover. Drozdik suggests using them in a hearth or kitchen; a candle in an amber jar or a serving tray with brass handles are examples from her recommendations.
Use one noticeable piece if you want a small seasonal shift, or repeat a few amber and brass details for a stronger visual thread. Either approach can sit alongside existing decor.

5. Display photos and meaningful mementos
Make a shelf, mantel, or small dedicated altar space for family photographs and objects that hold personal meaning. Drozdik’s idea includes both biological and chosen family, so the display can reflect the people and memories that matter to you.
Her approach connects the home with gratitude, remembrance, and seasonal reflection. As she told Country Living, “As a hearth witch, my craft centers around the belief that the home is the heart of our spiritual practice.”

Bring the ideas together in a Practical Magic-inspired room
A recent design feature interprets the film-inspired look through traditional cabinetry, botanical wallpaper, vintage finds, potted herbs, floral textiles, and candlelight. These are a design writer’s reading of the aesthetic, not an authoritative inventory of the film’s sets. The practical lesson is to build a warm, personal room from a few compatible elements rather than buying a complete theme.
In PEOPLE reporting republished by AOL on September 11, 2026, content creator and lighting designer Sara Parker points to dried herbs, pressed flowers, candlelight, old books, and layered textiles as ways to evoke the look. She describes its appeal as “a kind of gothic witchcraft” combined with a feminine, romantic quality, and calls the collected feeling “intentional clutter.” Her bulb recommendation is warm lighting from 2200 K to 2700 K; that range is her design guidance, not a tested requirement.
Start with one or two of Drozdik’s seasonal details, then add personal objects or soft lighting only where they suit the room. Keeping the palette and display deliberate helps the result feel lived-in rather than crowded.
