Both are multi-socket extension boards with a manufacturer-stated 2500W maximum connected-load rating, one USB-C Power Delivery port rated up to 20W and three USB charging ports. The practical difference is outlet count: eight universal AC sockets on the Power Plate 23 versus five on the Power Plate 22.
Power Plate 23 and 22: what Portronics launched
The products are charging-equipped power extenders rather than UPS systems or laptop power supplies. Portronics lists the Power Plate 23 (model POR 2848) in white and the Power Plate 22 (POR 2847) in black. Launch coverage from FoneArena dates the Indian introduction to January 27, 2025.
Both listings mention universal sockets, a three-metre cord, wall-mount holes, child-safety shutters, a three-pin plug and fire-resistant material. These are manufacturer-listed features, not independent safety-test results.

What the 2500W rating actually means
The 2500W figure is the stated maximum for the board’s combined connected AC load. It is not 2500W per socket and it is not the output of the USB charging section. At a nominal 230V supply, 2500W works out to roughly 10.9A; that is a calculation from the headline wattage, not a separately verified current rating.
For example, a 1,500W heater and a 1,000W kettle would already reach the stated ceiling before allowing for any other appliance. Add the wattages of every AC appliance connected to the board, leave headroom, and check the appliance instructions and the household circuit. A universal socket accepting a plug does not prove that the appliance, earthing arrangement or local wiring is suitable.

AC capacity and USB output are separate limits
The charging electronics have their own limits: USB-C PD is up to 20W, the USB/MACH port is up to 18W, and the Power Plate 23 page specifies 12W total for its two other USB-A ports. USB charging does not increase the board’s AC rating. The product pages do not publish a complete output-sharing table when several USB ports are used simultaneously.
What the charging ports can—and cannot—do
A 20W USB-C PD port can be useful for phones, earbuds, power banks and other small devices. Actual speed depends on the device’s supported PD profiles, cable and charging state; proprietary systems may not use the full 20W. It is not a substitute for a 45W, 65W or 100W charger for a laptop that requires one.

The 18W USB/MACH port provides a separate fast-charge output claim. The two remaining ports are useful for lower-power USB devices, but Power Plate 22’s page does not clearly state an equivalent 12W-total figure. Do not assume that all ports can deliver their maximum ratings at once.
Physical features and safety qualifications
- Three-metre cable: useful when a desk or TV console is distant from the wall outlet.
- Wall-mount holes: allow fixed installation where the mounting surface and cable route are appropriate.
- Child-safety shutters: a manufacturer claim that can reduce access to contacts; it is not protection against every electrical hazard.
- Fire-resistant material: describes the listed material feature, not a guarantee that an overloaded or damaged board cannot overheat.
- Warranty: the 23 listing shows one year and the 22 listing states 12 months; both pages also show a seven-day replacement policy. Check the terms for the seller and channel used.
The available listings do not clearly establish surge-protection performance, voltage regulation, EMI filtering, overload cut-off behaviour, per-socket current limits, independent safety certification, individual switches or UPS backup. Treat those as absent unless Portronics supplies a product sheet or manual confirming them.

Which model fits which setup?
Choose Power Plate 23 for larger setups
The 23 is the logical choice for a home-office desk, TV console or entertainment unit that genuinely needs eight AC connections. Its advantage is three additional sockets, not faster USB charging. The extra observed cost is ₹200, subject to price changes.
Choose Power Plate 22 for smaller setups
The 22 suits a desk or bedside arrangement where five sockets cover the equipment. It retains the core USB charging proposition and the written 2500W rating in a black enclosure at the lower observed price.

Choose neither when a different feature is essential
- Need more than 20W USB-C output: use a suitable 45W, 65W or 100W charger.
- Need verified surge protection: choose a strip with an explicitly documented protection specification.
- Need independent outlet control: consider a switched board.
- Need backup power: use a UPS.
- Need metering, app control or individually monitored outlets: these boards are not documented as providing those functions.
- Planning to run heaters, irons, kettles or similar loads: calculate the combined wattage and confirm the household circuit and appliance guidance first.
An inconsistency in the Power Plate 22 listing
The Power Plate 22 page contains “1440W power delivery” in an image description while its written product description and specification table state 2500W. That conflict should not be silently ignored. Before buying, ask Portronics or the seller to confirm the rating on the packaging or current product sheet, especially if the board will power high-load equipment.
Price and availability
Portronics’ pages displayed ₹1,449 for the Power Plate 23 and ₹1,249 for the Power Plate 22 when observed on August 16, 2026. Because the pages also used promotional and “Coming Soon” availability language, these are time-stamped observed listing prices rather than guaranteed current transaction prices. Confirm stock, final checkout price, warranty coverage and replacement terms at purchase.
Portronics’ extension-board collection also lists boards such as Power Plate Pro and Power Plate 20 with individual switches, plus models with different socket and USB layouts. Compare their documented electrical ratings and protection features rather than choosing solely by port count.
Verdict
Power Plate 23 and Power Plate 22 are convenient multi-socket boards with integrated basic USB charging. Buy the 23 when eight outlets justify the premium; buy the 22 when five outlets are enough and the lower observed price matters. Neither should be treated as a high-wattage laptop charger, a tested surge protector, a UPS or a guarantee that any collection of high-power appliances is safe to run together.
