Skybridge to the Capitol
The planned skybridge will link the new office building to the third floor of the Georgia State Capitol, also known as the Gold Dome. The connection is part of the project’s design; the available report does not establish a completion date for it.
Why the project uses a skybridge
Urbanize Atlanta reported that the Georgia Building Authority considered a tunnel and an enhanced pedestrian crosswalk as alternatives. The Authority reportedly judged a bridge safer, more secure and more efficient. The report does not include an independent engineering comparison or figures for cost, accessibility, schedule or performance, so those alternatives cannot be ranked on those measures from the available information.
