If your Pentair Prowler 920 will not move, sink, climb walls, or clean the whole pool, start with the symptom-specific checks below. Clear ordinary debris and verify setup first; stop and contact a qualified pool equipment dealer or service center if the motor unit, floating cable, power supply, or cord appears electrically damaged.
The Prowler 920 is Pentair item 360322, an inground robotic cleaner that Pentair currently marks discontinued on its product page and SKU page. The troubleshooting guidance below follows Pentair’s Prowler 920 / Warrior SE Installation and User’s Guide; use the manual for full operating and maintenance instructions.
Before troubleshooting: make the cleaner safe to inspect
- Switch off and disconnect the power supply before removing debris from the filter, impeller, tracks, or wheels. Follow the manual’s instructions for handling the cleaner and power supply.
- Do not open or attempt to repair the floating cable, power supply, or sealed motor unit. If a cord is damaged or an electrical fault is suspected, stop using the cleaner and contact a dealer or service center.
- Check the filter basket and visible moving parts before assuming the cleaner has failed. Pentair describes separate mesh baskets for large and fine debris; the appropriate basket depends on the debris the cleaner is collecting.
Cable twisting or cable coils up
A twisted cable can result from excess cable in the pool, obstructions, or the cleaner catching on the main-drain cover.
- Remove obstructions that could snag the cleaner or cable.
- Keep only the cable length needed for the cleaner to reach the pool; leave excess cable outside the water.
- Periodically straighten the cable and lay it in the sun to relax twists, following the manual’s handling guidance.
- If the cleaner catches on the main drain, use a main-drain cover ring where appropriate for the pool and drain setup.
Cleaner is moving in circles
Inspect for dirt in the moving parts and check the tracks, power-supply position, and pool conditions.

- Pentair 360366 Prowler 930/920 Front Brush Assembly
- With the power disconnected, clear dirt and debris from the moving parts, tracks, and wheels.
- Look for worn tracks. Pentair’s manual directs owners to contact a dealer about track replacement rather than treating worn tracks as a cleaning issue.
- Position the power supply so the cleaner can reach all pool walls and does not have to work around avoidable cable or placement constraints.
- Check for algae and unsuitable water conditions, which can affect movement and traction.
Cleaner does not reach all areas of the pool
Coverage problems can come from an obstructed route, poor power-supply placement, pool circulation, or a cleaner that is struggling to climb.
- Move obstacles that block the cleaner’s route and place the power supply where the cleaner can access the pool’s walls.
- If the pool filter and pump are running during the cleaning cycle, turn them off for another cycle as the manual recommends.
- Check the filter and the wall-climbing causes in the next section; a cleaner that cannot climb may leave wall areas or adjacent surfaces untreated.
Cleaner does not climb walls
Pentair’s manual lists several possible causes: a dirty filter, algae on the walls, water temperature outside its recommended range, worn brushes, debris around the impeller, trapped air, and unsuitable pH.

- COMPATIBLE WITH PENTAIR PROWLER 920: These replacement shim bearings are specifically designed to fit for Pentair Prowler 920 pool robot cleaner.
- SET OF 4: Comes with 4 replacement shim bearings, providing enough parts to fully restore your pool robot's performance in one convenient pack.
- SMOOTH OPERATION: Designed to reduce friction and wear, these shim bearings help ensure your Prowler 920 runs smoothly and efficiently during every cleaning cycle.
- OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE: Installing fresh shim bearings helps maintain the mechanical integrity of your pool robot, extending its operational lifespan.
- EASY REPLACEMENT: These shim bearings are built to match original specifications, making the replacement process straightforward and hassle-free.
- Dirty filter: Remove and wash the cartridge or filter basket as directed in the manual. A clogged filter can add weight and interfere with climbing.
- Algae: Brush the pool walls to remove buildup that can reduce traction.
- Water temperature: Pentair gives 54–90°F (12–32°C) as the ideal range for this troubleshooting check.
- Worn brushes: Ask a dealer about replacement if the brushes are worn.
- Impeller debris: Disconnect power and clean the impeller as described in the manual.
- Trapped air: Turn the cleaner upside down underwater to release air.
- pH: The manual gives 7.4–7.8 as the recommended range and 7.2 as the minimum. These are the cleaner manual’s troubleshooting recommendations, not a substitute for pool-chemical product instructions or advice from a local pool professional.
Cleaner will not sink
Trapped air is a listed cause. Turn the cleaner upside down underwater to let air escape, then check the filter and inlet for blockages.
- Wash the cartridge or filter basket using the manual’s instructions.
- Remove calcium or chemical deposits from the filter components as directed.
- Inspect the inlet flap in the bottom lid and clear dirt or trapped air that may be obstructing it.
Do not disassemble sealed electrical components to try to make the cleaner sink.

Motor not working or power-supply light is off
First distinguish a mechanical blockage from a possible electrical fault. The manual lists an obstructed impeller or blocked drive system as mechanical causes of a motor that does not work.
- Disconnect the power and clear debris from the impeller, tracks, and wheels according to the manual.
- If the power-supply light is off, reconnect the supply and check the main power supply.
- If the motor still does not work, the power supply remains unlit, the cord is damaged, or the motor unit, floating cable, or power supply may have an electrical problem, stop troubleshooting and contact a dealer or service center. Do not open the cable or electrical components.
Clean and inspect the filter before replacing it
Pentair identifies separate mesh baskets for large and fine debris. Clean the installed filter according to the manual, including periodic filter-screen cleaning, before deciding it needs replacement. Consider a replacement only if inspection shows damage or cleaning does not restore normal filtration.

Because Pentair marks item 360322 discontinued, verify that any listing explicitly identifies compatibility with the Prowler 920 and the exact basket or cartridge assembly you need. Do not assume a part fits simply because a listing or manual also mentions the Warrior SE. Pentair Australia showed no replacement parts available on its regional page at the time checked; that does not establish availability elsewhere. Check current local stock and compatibility with the seller or Pentair support before buying. See Pentair’s Prowler 920 product information and the owner’s guide.
