Construction of Panathinaikos’s new football stadium in Votanikos, Athens, is reported to be progressing on schedule, with completion targeted for May 2027. In an October 10, 2026 report, eKathimerini said Mayor Haris Doukas and club officials considered the work on track; the report described concrete frames, grandstands and the main structure taking shape. This is their reported assessment, not an independently audited guarantee of handover.
When is the stadium expected to be ready?
The current reported construction-completion target is May 2027. The Municipality of Athens stated that target in January 2026, and eKathimerini reported it again on October 10, 2026, attributing the “on track” assessment to the mayor and club officials. The contractor’s project page lists execution as 2024–2027 and marks the work in progress.

eKathimerini gives a planned capacity range of 38,500 to 40,000. For a precise minimum specification, METKA’s figure is 38,500; the higher figure belongs to the report’s range, rather than a separate contractor-confirmed capacity.
