Available reporting confirms construction activity in Overton County, but does not establish that every project remains on schedule. Three school additions were underway during the 2025–26 school year, and the schools director said testing and end-of-year trips stayed on schedule. That statement concerns school activities—not construction completion dates. A courthouse restoration was planned, while state notices documented road work and lane closures.
Are Overton County construction projects on schedule?
There is not enough published project-by-project information to say that all Overton County construction projects remain on schedule. The available reports do not provide verified completion dates or contractor milestone updates for the school additions, courthouse restoration, or county road projects. Work being underway—or school activities continuing—does not by itself confirm construction schedule performance.
What construction is happening in Overton County?
School additions at three schools
A May 27, 2026 report said additions were in progress at three schools for much of the 2025–26 school year. Overton County Schools Director Kim Dillon said the district kept testing and end-of-year trips on schedule despite the construction. The report also noted virtual learning days after snow days were exhausted and unexpected closures connected to water utility issues and a power outage; it does not describe a disruption-free school year or confirm when the additions will be complete. Read the report.
Courthouse restoration plan
On June 30, 2026, The UC Now reported that the county intended to begin a $1.7 million courthouse restoration plan during the new fiscal year. Board Co-Chair Darwin Clark said an engineering company had estimated that amount for work on the brick, windows, and doors. Replacing the door facing the post office was identified as the first priority. Clark also said the county allocates $100,000 annually for courthouse maintenance and restoration. These are reported plans and funding statements, not confirmation that restoration work has started, that $1.7 million is a final contract value, or that the work has a verified completion schedule. State road work and traffic impacts
TDOT’s July 10, 2026 update for July 9–15 listed intermittent lane closures for resurfacing and bridge repair on SR-52 near the Clay County line. It also listed utility work and flagger-assisted lane closures on SR-111. The notice describes potential traffic impacts during that reporting period; it does not establish a general completion date or whether either project is ahead of or behind schedule. Because lane-closure notices change, check TDOT’s current weekly construction report for the latest information.

Courthouse plaza improvements are listed separately
TDOT lists project 129814 in Livingston for courthouse plaza improvements, including sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps, brick plazas, pedestrian lighting, landscaping, monument relocation, drainage, utility improvements, and amenities. The listing names Mid-State Construction Co. and gives a project amount of $1,491,452.28. It does not say this is the same scope as the county’s separately reported $1.7 million courthouse restoration plan, so the two should not be treated as one project or combined into a single budget figure. See TDOT’s project listing.

How to interpret project status updates
- Planned: A project or funding intention has been announced, but that alone does not show that work has started.
- Underway: Work is in progress, but this does not show whether milestones or the final completion date are being met.
- Traffic notice: A dated lane-closure report indicates work or impacts during the stated period; it is not a full project schedule.
- Schedule confirmed: Look for a dated update that identifies the project and verifies milestones or a completion date. The reports cited here do not provide that confirmation for the projects as a group.
