One large wooden mass leans 10 degrees toward the audience and is supported by slender steel rods. Designboom says its profile references nearby Mount Ishizuchi. The 10-degree figure is a project specification reported in the feature, not a measurement from an independent study.
What materials and construction details are reported?
The reported palette includes regional cedar and cypress from Ehime, together with large cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels measuring 12 by 2.3 meters. The panels are kept substantially intact rather than extensively cut to produce the pavilion’s overall form. Cut-offs from the main panels are reported to have been reused in secondary components, including the stage stairs.
The feature also describes collaboration among local carpenters, CLT manufacturers, and drafters, but does not name the participating firms or individuals. It does not provide a structural specification or independent assessment of the assembly.
What is planned for the timber after the festival?
According to the project feature, the main panels can be unbolted after the festival and repurposed as custom furniture within the regional school network.
