The proposal includes about 4.5 km of elevated road. In October 2026 reporting, it was still awaiting final approval from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH); no tender or construction start was confirmed.
What the reported Delhi proposal includes
Hindustan Times reported on 2 October 2026 that the DPR covers the Delhi stretch between the Haryana border and Andheria Morh. The report put the length at about 8.5 km, with roughly 4.5 km elevated and the remainder at ground level. These are reported planning figures, not final sanctioned specifications. Hindustan Times

The same report attributed an estimated cost of about ₹980 crore to an unnamed senior NHAI official. It is an estimate, not a confirmed or sanctioned project cost.
Has the project been approved or started?
According to the October 2 report, the DPR had received internal approvals and was to be sent to MoRTH for final approval. Tenders were expected to follow ministry approval. A trade report on 8 October 2026 repeated that sequence. Neither report confirms that final approval or tendering later took place, and neither establishes that construction has started. So the confirmed description from those reports is a DPR milestone for a proposed project—not an approved, tendered or active construction job. They do not provide a construction start date, completion date, or quantified travel-time or traffic reduction.
Delhi and Gurugram are at different planning stages
The MG Road corridor crosses the Delhi–Haryana boundary, but the reported Delhi proposal should not be conflated with the separate Gurugram study.

Hindustan Times reported that limited space and metro stations are challenges on the Gurugram stretch, which is maintained by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). The consultant’s feasibility work is separate from the Delhi DPR. Hindustan Times
What a DPR does—and does not—confirm
A detailed project report is part of project planning. NHAI describes DPR work generally as including surveys, investigations and designs for highway projects. That general description explains the planning function; it does not establish that this MG Road proposal has received final government sanction. NHAI press release

MoRTH has also published information about other Andheria Morh and elevated-corridor proposals. The available October 2026 reporting does not establish that those proposals are the same project or alignment as this MG Road DPR, so they should be treated separately. MoRTH press release
