If you want dishwasher detergent with a more considered ingredient profile and packaging, compare the exact product’s ingredient disclosure, certification, scent, and packaging claims—not just the word “natural.” The available sources identify two options with relevant product-specific information, but do not establish which cleans best across different dishwashers, water conditions, and soils.
What “natural” does—and does not—tell you
“Natural” is a broad consumer term, not a guarantee of safety, lower environmental impact, or cleaning performance. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency explains that renewable or natural origins alone do not establish a different health or environmental impact. Look for evidence about the specific formula instead.
EPA’s Safer Choice program reviews every chemical ingredient in products carrying its label. As the agency puts it: “Every ingredient is reviewed: Before a product can carry the Safer Choice label, EPA reviews all chemical ingredients, regardless of their percentage in the product.” That review is meaningful evidence about ingredient criteria, but it is not a claim that a detergent is risk-free. - Read the ingredient and packaging information. Treat brand descriptions as claims from the manufacturer, and distinguish them from an independent assessment or certification.
- Match the detergent to your cleaning conditions. Water hardness, food residue, loading, and dishwasher cycle can affect results. The sources cited here do not compare these products under controlled conditions across those variables.
What the evidence says about cleaning performance
There is no supported universal cleaning winner among these products in the available evidence.
