Verdict: The Narwal Freo X Plus is a good-value robot vacuum for homes dominated by sealed parquet, hardwood, tile, laminate, or other compatible hard floors. Its vacuuming is the stronger feature; the single-pad mop is useful for light daily maintenance but is not a replacement for manual scrubbing. The biggest compromise is that the compact dock stores dust but does not wash the mop automatically.
Buy it when you want dependable hard-floor vacuuming, modest mopping, reduced hair tangles, and a small dock at a relatively low price. Skip it if you expect hands-free mop hygiene, reliable dried-stain removal, or perfect room-by-room cleaning without supervision.
Who should buy the Narwal Freo X Plus?
The Freo X Plus makes the most sense for a home where vacuuming matters more than deep mopping. It is particularly suitable if you have:
- Mostly sealed parquet, hardwood, tile, laminate, or another moisture-tolerant hard floor.
- Daily dust, crumbs, footprints, pet fur, or long hair to collect.
- Limited space for a large water-and-waste dock.
- A willingness to wash and dry the mop pad manually.
- Realistic expectations about robot mopping: routine maintenance rather than restoration cleaning.
It is a poor fit for unsealed or damaged wood, homes with thick or loose rugs, heavily soiled grout, or buyers who want the dock to wash and dry the mop after every run.

These are manufacturer specifications, not guarantees of cleaning performance. In particular, the 7,800-Pa figure should not be treated as a standardized test result. Actual pickup depends on debris, floor joints, brush condition, filters, settings, and rugs. See Narwal’s product page and the user manual for regional specifications.
Vacuum performance on parquet and tile
Vacuuming is the Freo X Plus’s strongest case. In independent testing on tile, hardwood, and a thick bath mat, TechRadar found that it handled fine debris and larger spillages effectively in vacuum mode. The review also described its vacuuming as good on hard and carpeted surfaces.
Its two side brushes help move debris toward the intake and allow it to approach room edges more effectively than the mop can. That makes it well suited to routine dust, crumbs, hair, and everyday grit on smooth floors.
However, suction numbers alone do not tell you how well it will clean every parquet floor. Deep joints may retain debris, textured tile can trap dirt, and side brushes may scatter light material in some situations. A full dust bag, dirty filter, worn brush, or low-power cleaning mode can also reduce results.

Treat that as a manufacturer claim, not a universal guarantee. The brush design should reduce maintenance, but strings, shoelaces, cords, fabric strips, and hair wrapped around side brushes can still cause problems.
Is it safe for parquet?
The Freo X Plus can be a sensible choice for sealed, finished parquet that the flooring manufacturer approves for damp cleaning. That does not mean it is automatically suitable for every wood floor.
Rank #2
- 25,000Pa Powerful Suction – Smarter, Deeper Cleaning: Freo Z10 Turbo robot vacuum cleaner removes fine dust, debris, and pet hair with high-powered suction, while intelligent sensors adjust cleaning in real time to helps reduce dirt spread during cleaning and ensure every pass is more effective.
- Edge-to-Edge, Corner-to-Clean: Freo Z10 Turbo robot mop and vacuum combo automatically extends and swings outward to reach tight edges, corners, and low gaps, maintaining consistent downward pressure to lift stubborn dirt from hard-to-reach areas.
- DualFlow Tangle-Free System – Engineered for Zero Hair Wrap: Side brushes loosen and guide hair toward the main brush through coordinated movement, while a burst of suction pulls it directly into the dustbin, preventing tangles and reducing manual cleaning.
- True Deep Cleaning – Enhanced by Downward Pressure: A downward-pressing cover creates a tighter seal against floors, concentrating airflow to boost suction and lift embedded dust, debris, and pet hair from deep within surfaces—enhancing performance for your vacuum mop robot.
- Mops Until Truly Clean: Dual spinning mops scrub away dried stains like coffee or sauce, while dirt detection monitors water condition in real time and triggers targeted re-mopping until floors are fully clean.
Unsealed, waxed, damaged, very old, or moisture-sensitive parquet presents a higher risk. Open joints, worn finish, trapped grit, excessive water, or a wet pad left against the surface can cause marking or moisture damage. The flooring manufacturer’s care instructions should take priority over the robot’s marketing or app settings.
Safer setup for sealed parquet
- Confirm that the finish permits damp—not wet—cleaning.
- Run the first cycle in vacuum-only mode to check navigation and debris pickup.
- Test mopping in an inconspicuous area.
- Start with the lowest practical mop-humidity setting.
- Inspect the pad for trapped grit before and after the first run.
- Never leave a wet pad sitting on the floor after cleaning.
- Use vacuum-only mode if the flooring instructions prohibit robotic mopping.
Measure clearance under cabinets and furniture too. The robot is approximately 107 mm high and could enter an area where a damp pad would be difficult to inspect or remove.
How well does it mop?
Mopping is adequate for light maintenance but clearly weaker than vacuuming. TechRadar described the performance as “okay” and found that dried mud was not reliably removed. The single pad applies downward pressure, but it does not provide the aggressive scrubbing of dual rotating pads or a roller-mop system.
It is appropriate for:
- Dusty footprints.
- Fresh, small spills.
- Light kitchen residue.
- Routine cleaning between manual mopping sessions.
Do not rely on it for dried food, caked mud, greasy buildup, heavy grout discoloration, or long-neglected floors. Those jobs still need manual treatment.
Testing also found incomplete wetting and streaky results at lower humidity settings. A higher setting can improve coverage, but it uses more water and is not automatically appropriate for parquet. Tile and grout may tolerate more moisture, subject to the flooring manufacturer’s instructions.
Edges: good vacuuming, weaker mopping
Do not treat the Freo X Plus’s edge performance as one single score. Its side brushes help it vacuum close to room edges, while testing found that the mop did not reach edges as closely. Baseboards, corners, and the perimeter of parquet rooms will therefore still need occasional manual attention.

Side brushes feature durable bristles for corner and edge cleaning.
Tile-floor performance and settings
Tile is generally the easier surface for the Freo X Plus, particularly when the tile and grout are sealed and moisture-tolerant. Vacuum-and-mop or mop mode can handle routine dust and fresh marks, while higher humidity may be useful on suitable tile.
Textured tile and deep grout lines are more demanding. The single mop pad may not scrub into discoloration or hardened residue effectively. Use the robot for maintenance, then manually clean sticky spots and grout when necessary.
For tile, begin with a normal setting and increase humidity only after confirming that the floor dries properly and does not streak. Manual room or zone cleaning is preferable for a small dirty area rather than sending the robot through an entire home under an automatic recommendation.
Dock, dust storage, and manual maintenance
The compact dock is one of the product’s practical advantages. It compresses and stores dust in a disposable bag, and Narwal claims up to seven weeks of storage depending on debris volume and cleaning frequency. That reduces routine dust-bin emptying and makes the Freo X Plus easier to place in a small apartment or narrow hallway.

The station does not automatically wash the mop. Narwal recommends removing, washing, and thoroughly drying the washable pad after each use. Narwal also says cleaning solution is not included and advises against adding third-party solution because it may cause pumping problems or shorten the machine’s life. Routine care
- Remove, wash, and air-dry the mop pad after every mopping session.
- Check the water tank and outlets if the pad is dry or coverage is uneven.
- Inspect the roller and side brushes for hair, string, and fabric.
- Clean filters as directed in the manual.
- Inspect the compressed-dust system and replace bags when indicated.
- Replace worn pads, filters, brushes, or bags rather than waiting for a major performance decline.
This maintenance burden is the main reason the Freo X Plus costs less than models with self-washing docks: the dock automates dust storage, but you still handle the dirtiest mop-related task.

On paper, the robot has a strong navigation package: LiDAR mapping, tri-laser obstacle detection, room maps, no-go zones, and app-based floor and carpet customization. Narwal says it can recognize carpet and lift the mop, but readers should verify behavior with their own rugs before scheduling unattended runs.

Narwal warns that carpets with fibers 20 mm or longer may be identified as obstacles. Loose bath mats, tasseled rugs, thick shag, dark surfaces, and unusual transitions can also confuse a robot. Use the app’s carpet options to choose whether the robot should cross, avoid, or clean a carpet without mopping. Do not mop regular carpet; a damp pad can wet the fibers or cause abnormal behavior.

Freo Advice is intended to act as an intelligent cleaning assistant, but independent testing found odd route choices, incomplete cleaning of intended areas, and instances where the robot left a selected room to clean elsewhere.
For predictable results, manually select a room or drawn zone, check the map’s room divisions, set no-go areas, and test the robot while present. Closing doors is still a useful workaround when one room must be cleaned exclusively.
First-time setup checklist
- Remove cords, clothing, toys, and other loose objects.
- Place the dock on a level surface with a clear approach.
- Install the Freo app and pair the robot using the supported network.

Freo X Plus versus other robot-vacuum types
| Alternative | Choose it when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Vacuum-only robot | Your home is mostly parquet and you already prefer a manual mop. | You lose one-device convenience but may gain simpler maintenance. |
| Premium self-washing combo | You want automatic mop washing and stronger wet-cleaning automation. | Usually costs more and requires a larger, more complex dock. |
| Dual-spinning or roller-mop robot | Dried stains and scrubbing are a priority. | Higher purchase price, larger dock, and more water management. |
| Budget combo robot | A similar-priced model offers better zone accuracy, mop washing, or local support. | Compare replacement parts, warranty, carpet handling, and edge cleaning carefully. |
Compare feature classes rather than relying on old prices. The Freo X Plus is attractive only when its price is clearly below self-washing alternatives or when its compact dock and hard-floor vacuuming are more valuable than advanced mopping.

Final recommendation
The Narwal Freo X Plus is best understood as a hard-floor vacuum with a convenient light-mopping function. It offers useful LiDAR navigation, a compact dust-compression dock, mop lifting, strong stated suction, and promising hair-management features. Independent testing supports its vacuuming on hardwood and tile more strongly than its mopping.
For sealed parquet, use cautious low-moisture settings and follow the flooring manufacturer’s instructions. For tile, it is a capable daily-maintenance tool, but dried residue and grout still need manual cleaning. If you hate washing mop pads, have moisture-sensitive wood, or expect completely hands-free wet cleaning, choose a different type of robot.
