MSC World Atlantic touched water for the first time on September 26, 2026, during a float-out at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France. MSC Cruises announced the milestone on September 30. The ship remains under construction, with delivery scheduled for 2027 and service from Port Canaveral planned to begin in November 2027.
What the float-out means
A float-out moves a newly built vessel from its construction dock into the water. It is a construction milestone—not delivery, a christening, sea-trial confirmation or the start of passenger service. MSC described it as the next phase of completion ahead of delivery in its September 30, 2026 announcement.
What happens next at the shipyard
MSC says World Atlantic will remain at Chantiers de l’Atlantique while work continues on its interiors, public spaces and final technical elements. The company schedules delivery for 2027; the float-out announcement does not provide sea-trial results or confirm that delivery has occurred.
When MSC World Atlantic is planned to sail from Port Canaveral
MSC plans to begin the ship’s inaugural Caribbean season from Port Canaveral in November 2027. The Canaveral Port Authority had earlier described MSC’s commitment as deploying its fourth World Class ship during the 2027–2028 cruise season in its January 27, 2025 announcement. The two descriptions align: the port authority gave the season, while MSC later named November as the planned start month.

Planned itineraries and ship positioning
MSC says the ship will offer alternating 7-night and 14-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, with destinations including Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. Those are announced plans, not confirmation of a final sailing schedule.
