What is planned for 2027?
The Marion County Public Works construction-project index lists the following projects for Marion County, Oregon. Funding is identified as local, state or federal in the county index. “Bid opening” dates indicate when the county expects to seek construction bids; they are not the same as the year physical work begins.

Center Street from Lancaster to 45th Place
This is the county’s specifically identified 2027 widening project. The county anticipates opening bids in fall or winter 2026, with construction assigned to 2027. The index does not state the number of added lanes, project cost or a completion date.

This federally funded corridor project is listed for a fall/winter 2026 bid opening and 2027 construction. The index names the route from OR 219 to Bents Road NE but does not provide a consolidated description of the roadway changes.

Roundabout and intersection safety work
Ehlen Road at Butteville Road
A federally funded roundabout is anticipated to begin in winter or spring 2027. The county assigns the work to the 2027-28 construction period, indicating that activity may extend beyond the 2027 calendar year.
Silverton Road left-turn refuge at Desart
This federally funded turn refuge is expected to reach bid opening in fall or winter 2026 and construction in 2027. A turn refuge is a separate safety treatment from a full intersection reconstruction; the county index does not publish dimensions or traffic-control details.
Howell Prairie curve-sign upgrades
Federal funding supports upgraded warning signs at curves in Howell Prairie. The county anticipates this work in winter or spring 2027, with construction listed for 2027.

Bridge projects
Scotts Mills Butte Creek Bridge replacement
The county’s dedicated Scotts Mills project page says, “Marion County has secured a grant from ODOT to replace the bridge located near the intersection of 3rd Street and Crooked Finger Road with a new structure.” It also says, “Marion County will contribute approximately 10% of the total project costs.” Construction is expected to take place in 2027-28.
The county index lists an anticipated winter/spring 2026 bid opening, while the construction window begins in 2027. That difference illustrates why a bid date should not be treated as the start of on-site work.
Independence Bridge repair
Repair work on Independence Bridge is federally funded, with an anticipated winter 2027 start and a 2027 construction year. The county has not published a project cost, closure plan or completion date in the index.

Walking, bicycling and school-route projects
Connecticut Avenue: Macleay to Rickey
This federally funded project adds bicycle and pedestrian improvements on the west side of Connecticut Avenue between Macleay and Rickey. Bids are anticipated in fall or winter 2026, with construction in 2027.
Silverton pedestrian improvements
Silverton’s locally funded pedestrian project is anticipated for winter 2027 and is listed as a 2027 construction project. The index does not specify the facilities, limits or cost.
Stayton Elementary Safe Routes to School
State funding supports safety improvements around Stayton Elementary and its school routes. The county anticipates work beginning in January 2027, with construction scheduled during 2027.

Other roadway safety work
River Road/French Prairie Road rumble strips
Centerline rumble strips are planned for River Road and French Prairie Road. The federally funded work is anticipated in winter or spring 2027 and is listed for construction in 2027. Rumble strips are a lane-departure warning treatment, not a pavement-resurfacing project.
Bear Creek Campground
Bear Creek Campground is listed as a locally funded 2027 construction project. The county index does not state the specific road elements, bid timing or cost.

How the schedule could affect travel
The projects most likely to create noticeable traffic changes are the Center Street widening, Ehlen Road/Butteville Road roundabout, the two bridge projects and work at the Silverton Road intersection. Those project types can require temporary lane shifts, reduced speeds or closures, but the county index does not publish project-specific traffic-control plans or detour routes. Treat the listed seasons as planning windows and check Marion County Public Works notices before traveling through an active work zone.

Late-2026 bid openings also matter to commuters and nearby businesses: procurement can occur months before construction crews arrive. A project may be advertised, awarded and scheduled without physical work starting until the listed 2027 season.
What is not yet established
- The index does not provide one countywide cost total for all 12 projects.
- It does not guarantee completion dates; the roundabout and Scotts Mills bridge replacement are explicitly listed as 2027-28 projects.
- Several entries lack detailed limits, design drawings, closure plans or final bid dates.
- Funding, sequencing and timing can change as Marion County and partner agencies update their programs.
