What disruption and changes were planned
PerthNow reported a planned six-month programme timed for summer, when tides were lowest. Its report said the boardwalk would close during repairs, with pedestrian and cyclist detours, and attributed to Mayor Katy Mair that “the boardwalk’s appearance would not change.” These were reported plans, not confirmed outcomes. The later City agenda forecast completion by early May 2026, but did not confirm that the work finished on schedule or detail the finished appearance.

PerthNow also reported that the reconstruction tender initially received one submission, which exceeded the allocated budget, and that Advanteering Civil Engineers would later undertake the project. Those details are the outlet’s account of procurement, not a substitute for a final City cost statement.
A contractor page describes steel decking-support treatment and reassembly, additional steel supports and connections, and local limestone retaining-wall repairs at the boardwalk.
