When will the station be finished?
The City of Longmont says the transit station is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The October 9, 2026, groundbreaking marked the start of construction. That target is for the transit facilities, not every project planned around the station.

The City’s project overview schedules bus station and parking construction from October 2026 through December 2027. Nearby apartment and commercial construction is listed separately, from early 2027 to late 2028. The project overview therefore distinguishes the station’s target from the longer timeline for surrounding development.

Bus, parking and bicycle facilities
The City’s October 2026 announcement describes a five-story station with a ground-level bus station, 10 bus bays, approximately 700 parking spaces and bicycle storage. These are the figures in the current announcement, rather than a final operating plan.

Future transit connections
The station is intended to support future Bus Rapid Transit service between Longmont and Boulder, as well as plans for Front Range Passenger Rail. It is also designed to connect with the city’s pedestrian and bicycle network. The announcement does not give a final service timetable or confirm when these future services will begin.
Why do City pages give different parking counts?
The City’s project overview describes a five-to-seven-story structure with around 600 spaces, while the October 2026 announcement gives approximately 700. The overview also says an RTD funding agreement reserves 200 spaces for transit riders. The City materials do not explain whether the overall counts use different boundaries, reflect a design change or simply come from a page that has not been updated. The figures should be treated as separate estimates, not combined.

How does Coffman Street fit into the project?
Coffman Street is planned to extend from 1st Avenue to Boston Avenue, providing the primary access to the station and connections for people walking, biking and driving. The City says the street link is intended to connect the St. Vrain Greenway with downtown and support Bus Rapid Transit access. Its Coffman Street Extension project page lists construction beginning in September 2026 with an anticipated nine-month construction period.

The October 2026 announcement calls the extension a $13 million project; the separate street page lists an estimated $7.6 million. The sources do not reconcile the estimates or specify whether they cover different scopes or dates. The City’s $70 million figure, discussed below, is for the transit center and Coffman Street extension together, so the street estimates should not be added to it.

What is the project expected to cost, and how is it funded?
The City’s October 2026 announcement puts the transit center and Coffman Street extension together at $70 million. Its listed funding sources are:
- RTD: $16.4 million toward transit improvements.
- Colorado Department of Local Affairs: a $4 million Transit-Oriented Communities Infrastructure Grant.
- City of Longmont: more than $17.6 million in property acquisition and related costs.
- Remaining funding: certificates of participation, to be paid with a combination of redevelopment tax-increment revenues, private-development parking fees, and City Public Improvement Fund and Street Fund money.
The announcement does not provide a fully reconciled line-item budget, so these listed contributions should not be treated as a complete breakdown of every project cost.

What else is planned near the station?
The station-area project includes broader mixed-use development plans, not components of the transit facility itself. The City overview describes 225 to 300 apartments and ground-floor commercial space. The October 2026 announcement also refers to new housing and commercial development and a planned Front Range Community College campus as part of the wider corridor transformation.
