Loewe’s We.BEAM is a compact Full HD smart projector built around an ALPD laser light source. Its premium appeal comes from minimalist design, automatic setup, native Netflix and USB-C power-bank support—not from class-leading brightness. With 500 ANSI lumens and a stated 500:1 FOFO contrast ratio, it is best for dark-room movie nights rather than bright living rooms or reference-grade home cinema.
What the Loewe We.BEAM is
The We.BEAM is a portable mini projector from German audiovisual brand Loewe. It combines a 1920 × 1080 image, integrated stereo speakers, Wi-Fi streaming and a table stand in a chassis measuring approximately 17.5 × 4.8 × 17.5 cm and weighing about 830 g. A standard 1/4-inch tripod thread supports temporary or elevated installations.
Loewe presents the ALPD (Advanced Laser Phosphor Display) light source as a cinema-derived technology. In this projector, its practical benefits are a compact enclosure, fast startup and a claimed operating life of approximately 25,000 hours in normal mode. ALPD does not by itself guarantee high contrast, convincing HDR or daytime visibility; those also depend on optical design, calibration, screen size and room lighting.

Where the premium positioning comes from
Design that fits a living room
The small, minimalist body and integrated stand are intended to look like designed home electronics rather than temporary office equipment. That matters in apartments and shared rooms where a large projector chassis or permanent ceiling mount would be intrusive.
Automatic setup
Automatic focus, keystone correction, screen alignment and obstacle detection make a temporary setup quicker. For the sharpest geometry, place the projector as square-on to the screen as possible; heavy digital correction can reduce effective sharpness and image area.
Built-in streaming
Netflix and YouTube are offered as native apps. Other services are accessed through Loewe’s NetRange app store and browser, with Amazon Prime Video listed among supported services. Availability can vary by country, licensing and software version, and the system is not Google TV. An external HDMI streamer remains the safer choice when a particular app, broader catalogue or longer update support matters.

Laser and USB-C convenience
The projector accepts USB-C Power Delivery and can run from a compatible power bank. It has no internal battery, so “portable” means easy to transport and capable of external-battery operation, not cordless operation out of the box.

Five hundred ANSI lumens is respectable for a small projector but modest beside brighter living-room models. In a darkened room, a smaller image should look more convincing than a 120-inch projection made with the same output. Ambient light lifts black levels and makes the picture look pale, while a matte-white screen generally gives more consistent results than a textured or glossy wall.
Loewe identifies roughly 80 inches as the preferred size and describes use in dark rooms, on white walls and on covered terraces. That is a manufacturer recommendation, not an independent measurement. The specified 40–120-inch range describes what the optics can produce, not a promise that every size will have equal brightness or contrast. HDR, contrast and picture expectations
HDR10 compatibility means the We.BEAM can accept HDR10 signals; it does not make the projector equivalent to a high-end HDR television. The stated 500:1 FOFO contrast ratio also argues for realistic expectations about shadow detail and black depth. No independent measurements were available for colour accuracy, actual contrast, HDR behaviour, fan noise or input lag, so those should not be treated as tested performance claims.

HDMI is the most dependable connection for a console, Blu-ray player or external streamer. HDCP 1.4 can affect compatibility with newer protected-content sources, so test the devices you intend to use. HDMI ARC can feed a compatible soundbar, while Bluetooth and the 3.5 mm output offer alternatives.

Loewe promotes Dolby Audio and stereo speakers. The datasheet lists 2 × 2.5 W sine power and 2 × 5 W music power; retail descriptions of two 5 W speakers use a different power convention. The built-in system is suitable for casual viewing, but a soundbar, powered speakers or AV receiver will provide fuller bass and a larger soundstage.

Power-bank and placement checks
Power requirements
The datasheet specifies USB-C input at 20 V/3.25 A, or approximately 65 W. A power bank must support the required USB-C PD voltage and wattage; a high milliamp-hour rating alone does not guarantee that the projector will start or remain running. Keep the supplied mains adapter for fixed installations.
Projection modes
Standard, rear and ceiling projection are supported. Measure the throw distance before installation, and avoid relying on extreme keystone correction for a permanent cinema position.

Price and value context
New Atlas reported a US launch price of approximately $960 on September 25, 2024: launch coverage. Loewe’s current North American page shows a “Buy now” option but did not expose a current price in the available page text, so that figure should be treated as historical launch pricing rather than a confirmed 2026 checkout price.

Its 500 ANSI lumens, no-battery design, proprietary app platform and modest stated contrast limit its appeal for bright rooms, serious HDR or performance-focused buyers; its premium touch is convenience and industrial design rather than outright picture leadership.
