For an S30, E30, or M30 thermostat, the first fix is usually to move from the old iComfort app to the current Lennox Home App. Lennox began requiring the transition on June 1, 2026, and said removal of the older app from the Apple App Store and Google Play was planned to begin in August 2026. Install the Lennox Home App, sign in with your existing iComfort credentials, and allow it to transfer your thermostat settings.
If that does not restore remote control, use the model-specific, account, Wi-Fi, and equipment checks below. Do not factory-reset the thermostat as your first step.

The correct troubleshooting path depends on the model:
| Thermostat | Current direction |
|---|---|
| S30, E30, or M30 | Move from the older S30/E30/M30 iComfort app to the Lennox Home App. |
| S40, E40, M40, or L40 | Use the Lennox Home App ecosystem. |
| Older iComfort Wi-Fi models | Check Lennox’s model-specific support instructions before installing an app. |
Lennox says the Lennox Home App supports the S30, E30, M30, S40, E40, M40, and L40. The S30 is discontinued and replaced by the S40, but existing S30 owners do not automatically need a new thermostat; Lennox continues to provide support documents and app support for existing S30 systems. See Lennox’s app-transition notice and S30 replacement guidance.

- An Alexa thermostat - Amazon Smart Thermostat is an easy way to switch from a traditional thermostats for homes and help reduce energy usage.
- Create comfort zones throughout your home by connecting to select Alexa devices to automatically adjust heating and cooling based on temperature readings or presence detection.
- Save money and energy - After purchase, Amazon will send you an email with details about home thermostat rebates that may be available from energy providers in your area.
- Save energy - According to EPA estimates, ENERGY STAR certified thermostats save an average of $90 on yearly energy bills.
- Programmable thermostat and automatic control - Create your own home, away and sleep schedules, or have Alexa automatically control the temperature with Alexa+ advanced features.
2. Move to the Lennox Home App
- Download the Lennox Home App from the official Apple App Store or Google Play link.
- Sign in using the email address and password used with your S30, E30, or M30.
- Allow the app to transfer your existing thermostat settings.
- If you have more than one home or system, select the correct one.
- Change the temperature by a small amount and confirm that the wall thermostat receives the change.
Lennox describes automatic transfer as the expected process, but migration may not complete successfully for every account. Do not create a second account simply because the new app does not immediately show your thermostat.
3. If the thermostat does not appear
First confirm that you used the original account email and that the thermostat is connected to home Wi-Fi. A thermostat can be missing from the app because of an account mismatch, incomplete migration, an offline thermostat, or a registration that requires a PIN.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf you know the account details and need to remove the old registration, Lennox provides these options:
- Remove one thermostat: On the thermostat, select Menu → Settings → [system name] → Unregister System.
- Remove all systems from the old account: Select Menu → Settings → Account → Move Out.
Afterward, open the Lennox Home App and add the thermostat using the PIN or the requested Lennox Home account. Use Move Out cautiously: it is more disruptive and disconnects the linked systems from the existing account. Do not use either option merely because the app is slow or displaying old data.
4. Fix login and password problems
- Check that the email address is the one registered to the thermostat.
- Select Trouble Logging In? in the Lennox Home App or web portal.
- Where available, reset the password through Menu → Settings → Account on the thermostat.
- Try the Lennox web portal as well as the mobile app.
- If the home previously had another owner or installer-managed account, identify which account currently owns the thermostat before attempting registration.
Keep one recoverable account whenever possible. Duplicate accounts can make a correctly connected thermostat appear missing.

5. Fix “thermostat not connected”
The app needs the thermostat to communicate with your home router. On S30 and M30 models, open:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Menu → Settings → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi Network
Select your home network and enter its password. If the network is not listed, use Other for manual configuration. The same general approach applies to other models, although menu labels can differ.
Check the network before changing account settings
- Confirm another device can access the internet through the same router.
- Reconnect the thermostat if you replaced the router or changed the Wi-Fi name or password.
- Do not use a guest network for setup.
- Do not use a portable phone hotspot for setup.
- Check for pending thermostat software updates.
- If iOS reports WAC Failed or Network Not Configured, verify the phone’s Wi-Fi connection and, if necessary, forget and reconnect to the network.
See Lennox’s official troubleshooting FAQ and the S30 or M30 support pages for model-specific instructions.
6. Check the phone and app
Once you have confirmed that the correct app is installed, work through these low-risk steps:
- Force-close and reopen the Lennox Home App.
- Restart the phone.
- Update the app through the official app store.
- Test the app on cellular data and on Wi-Fi.
- Temporarily disable a VPN, firewall, or restrictive network profile.
- Sign out and sign back in.
- Reinstall the app only after confirming that you know the account email and password.
Lennox’s stated support window is the latest iOS version plus the previous two versions, and the latest Android version plus the previous three. Older operating systems may still run the app but are not supported or necessarily updated. Check the current mobile-device guidance for the latest requirements.

7. When the app works but heating or cooling does not
Separate remote-control trouble from HVAC equipment trouble:
- If the app changes its displayed set point but the wall thermostat does not, suspect Wi-Fi, account, cloud synchronization, or thermostat communication.
- If the wall thermostat changes but the equipment does not start, the problem may be with the HVAC system rather than the app.
- Check the wall thermostat for alerts or error messages.
- Make one test adjustment and wait for confirmation instead of repeatedly changing the set point.
An equipment alert, communication fault, blank display, or repeated reboot requires HVAC diagnosis rather than more app reinstalls. Lennox directs owners to their dealer for connectivity and equipment support through its iComfort owner resources.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.8. Special messages and symptoms
“Outdoor Temperature data not available”
Lennox says this can result from interrupted Wi-Fi or a faulty outdoor temperature sensor, if one is installed. Check the thermostat’s connection and alerts. If the message persists or an equipment alert appears, contact a dealer rather than repeatedly reinstalling the app.
“WAC Failed” or “Network Not Configured”
These messages point toward the Wi-Fi setup process. Confirm that the phone is connected to the intended home network, avoid guest networks and hotspots, and retry the thermostat’s Wi-Fi setup.
Blank or rebooting display
A blank or repeatedly rebooting thermostat is not normally an app problem. It may involve power, wiring, the Smart Hub, or equipment communication. Contact a qualified Lennox dealer.

9. Quick diagnostic table
| Symptom | Likely category | First action |
|---|---|---|
| Old app no longer works | App migration | Install the Lennox Home App. |
| Login rejected | Account or password | Use Trouble Logging In?. |
| Thermostat missing | Account, registration, or Wi-Fi | Check the account and thermostat Wi-Fi before unregistering. |
| App says the thermostat is offline | Router, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection | Check Wi-Fi on the thermostat. |
| Set point changes locally but not remotely | App or cloud synchronization | Test the web portal and reconnect Wi-Fi. |
| Wall display is blank | Power or equipment | Contact a dealer. |
| Outdoor temperature is unavailable | Sensor or connectivity | Check alerts and dealer support. |
10. When to contact Lennox or a dealer
Escalate if:
- The thermostat cannot connect to a valid home Wi-Fi network.
- The display is blank, repeatedly reboots, or loses power.
- The thermostat shows an equipment or communication alert.
- Migration leaves the thermostat unregistered.
- The app and web portal both fail while the thermostat appears online.
- Reconnecting Wi-Fi, recovering the account, and updating the app do not solve the problem.
Before calling, record the thermostat model, exact error message, whether local controls work, the thermostat’s Wi-Fi status, the account email, and whether the web portal also fails. Use Lennox’s dealer and product-support locator.
Should you replace the thermostat?
Not solely because the app stopped working. S30 discontinuation does not prove that the thermostat has failed. First rule out the app transition, account, Wi-Fi, and cloud connection.
If replacement is necessary, a Lennox S40 or another thermostat must be checked against the specific HVAC equipment, wiring, communicating controls, zoning, variable-speed features, accessories, and any required equipment interface. A generic smart thermostat is not necessarily a drop-in replacement for a communicating Lennox system.

Do not factory-reset the thermostat unless Lennox or a qualified dealer specifically recommends it. A reset can erase configuration and create a new setup or service requirement.
