Yes, laundry-folding robots have reached early customers—but “24/7/365” is still marketing shorthand, not the reality of today’s products. Weave Robotics’ Isaac 0 is a stationary folding robot reportedly shipping to initial customers in California. It can fold selected garments in roughly 30–90 minutes, but people still need to bring it clean, dry laundry, load it, handle unsupported items, and put the folded clothes away.
The robot you can actually encounter today
The clearest example is Weave Robotics’ Isaac 0. Weave announced it on February 11, 2026, and says initial home shipments were aimed at San Francisco Bay Area residents.

Isaac 0 is not a humanoid robot roaming through the house. It is a stationary workstation designed to sit beside a desk or similar surface and operate from a normal wall outlet. Weave says it can fold T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, pants and towels, with a load taking approximately 30–90 minutes.
That is a meaningful step beyond a laboratory demonstration, but it is important to define “laundry-folding robot” accurately. Isaac 0 does not wash, dry, sort, carry or store clothes. The owner must still:

What does Isaac 0 cost?
Weave’s current order page displays a California delivery estimate of 4–6 weeks and a $250 refundable payment due today. It shows two payment options:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- $249 per month with no upfront cost.
- $3,999 upfront, followed by $49 per month.
The page says the subscription includes a warranty, while the upfront option displays a two-year warranty. These terms are time-sensitive, so prospective buyers should read the current agreement rather than rely on older coverage that quoted different prices.
That makes Isaac 0 an early-access product for supported California customers—not a nationwide, low-cost appliance. Buyers should calculate the complete cost of hardware, subscription payments, delivery, repairs and electricity before comparing it with laundry services or the value of their own time.
Is it really autonomous?
Only partly. Weave says Isaac 0 operates autonomously “as much as possible,” but a remote specialist may intervene when the robot encounters a difficult garment or makes an error. Weave says such corrections can take about 5–10 seconds.

Remote assistance is not proof that the robot is fake. It is a practical fallback for a difficult robotics problem: keeping a machine useful while it encounters unusual real-world cases. But it changes what “fully autonomous” means. A customer may still depend on:
Recommended Free Tools
- A remote worker being available.
- An active internet connection.
- Cloud software and the company’s support operation.
- A safe way for the robot to pause when it cannot continue.
The public information does not establish how often interventions occur, whether support is available around the clock, what the specialist can see, whether remote help remains included after the warranty, or what happens if Weave’s service shuts down. Those are essential questions before buying a connected household machine.
Why “24/7/365” overstates the current reality
A robot may be designed to run repeated cycles, but that does not mean it can fold a household’s laundry continuously without people. It needs a supply of clean, dry clothing, someone to load it, someone to remove the output, electricity, software, connectivity and occasional maintenance.
At 30–90 minutes per load, Isaac 0 could process repeated batches, but most homes do not produce enough laundry to keep it busy all day and night. The limiting factor may simply move elsewhere in the workflow: the dryer finishes, but nobody is available to load the folding station or put the results away.
A more accurate description is: the robot can work in repeated cycles, but the household remains the limiting system.

Why folding clothes is such a hard robotics problem
Clothing is a deformable object. Unlike a rigid box or factory component, a shirt can be crumpled, inside out, partially hidden beneath another garment or tangled around a sleeve. A robot must identify the garment, determine its orientation, locate sleeves or legs, choose safe gripping points and apply the right amount of force without stretching or dropping it.
It must also decide what “neatly folded” means for different fabrics and sizes. Thin straps, dark fabrics, reflective patterns, heavy towels and overlapping garments can all create difficult visual and mechanical cases.
IEEE Spectrum’s history of the category highlighted a recurring weakness in earlier demonstrations: the input was often carefully prepared. A machine may appear to automate folding while still requiring a person to orient each garment correctly before the real process begins.
How LG CLOiD differs
LG’s CLOiD, shown at CES 2026, represents a much broader ambition. LG demonstrated a wheeled home robot with a head, torso, two articulated arms, cameras and sensors. Each arm is described as having seven degrees of freedom, while each hand has five independently actuated fingers.

Isaac 0 is the more concrete product story. CLOiD is the more ambitious platform story. Neither supports the claim that affordable robots can currently handle every household’s laundry without supervision.
Why earlier promises created skepticism
Laundry-folding robots have a credibility problem because the category has repeatedly moved from impressive demonstrations to disappointing commercial outcomes.
Laundroid, developed by Seven Dreamers, was promoted as a highly autonomous folding system, but the company associated with it filed for bankruptcy in 2019. FoldiMate attracted attention with a historical target price of roughly $700–$850, but it required users to feed garments into the machine in a particular way and did not become a verified mainstream retail product.
The recurring barriers are not just artificial intelligence. They include reliability across mixed household laundry, manufacturing complexity, support costs, customer returns, safety, component durability and the economics of selling a specialized machine at consumer prices. As Fast Company’s coverage of newer efforts illustrates, training robots on crumpled shirts, inside-out pants and other edge cases requires substantial real-world data. Building a prototype and manufacturing a dependable product are separate challenges.

Better computer vision, lower-cost robotic arms, more capable vision-language-action models and larger training datasets may make the problem more tractable. Remote intervention can also help: a human corrects an unusual case, while the resulting data may improve future software and hardware.

That is progress, not proof that laundry folding is solved. The important milestone is that a company claims to have moved from controlled demonstrations to a supported system operating in homes. Weave’s deployment is also intended to help it gather data and improve the product. The difficult test is whether it can maintain consistent performance across thousands of ordinary households.
Who should consider one?
Isaac 0 may make sense for affluent early adopters in its supported region, households with a high volume of suitable clothing, technology enthusiasts and possibly commercial laundry environments. Those buyers may value reducing one repetitive task enough to accept a subscription, limited garment coverage and occasional human assistance.
It is a poor fit for shoppers outside the delivery area, households seeking a cheap appliance, people who do little laundry, buyers unwilling to maintain a subscription, or anyone expecting washing, drying, sorting and putting clothes away to disappear.
Buyer checklist
Before paying a deposit or subscription, ask:
- Eligibility: Is delivery available in your state or country?
- Garments: Does it handle your actual mix of shirts, trousers, towels, socks, underwear, bedding and delicate items?
- Input: Can you load a mixed pile, or must every garment be oriented manually?
- Intervention: How often does remote help occur, and what happens if nobody responds?
- Total cost: What will hardware, monthly fees, service, delivery and repairs cost over several years?
- Warranty: Who repairs the robot, and what is covered after the warranty ends?
- Subscription: Does core functionality or remote assistance depend on an active plan?
- Privacy: What cameras, sensors and garment or household data leave the home?
- Returns: Is the payment refundable, and how difficult is returning a large machine?
- Company durability: Will software updates, replacement parts and support remain available if the startup changes direction?
The verdict
Laundry-folding robots have crossed from pure science-fiction spectacle into early product territory. But they have not yet become ordinary household infrastructure.
The likely near-term path is a series of expensive, specialized machines that reduce one part of laundry, beginning with fixed folding stations. Broader wheeled or humanoid robots may eventually move laundry, operate appliances and put clothes away, but demonstrations do not establish consumer reliability or availability.
For most households, the sensible choice today is to wait rather than assume “24/7/365” means unattended, unlimited folding. If the immediate goal is to have the entire laundry workflow handled, a local wash-and-fold service or household help may be more practical than a robot that only folds selected garments.
