Jacksboro Elementary School’s renovation and addition in Jacksboro, Tennessee, remained unfinished as of the Campbell County school system’s October 2026 update. The district identified several items still under review, including a visible buckle in the gym floor; it gave no revised completion date. The school system said the gym-floor replacement estimate was approximately $140,000, but replacement had not been confirmed or approved.
What is the latest status of the Jacksboro Elementary project?
In a statement published by WLAF on October 9, 2026, Campbell County Director of Schools Charlotte McCoy said the renovation and addition work remained incomplete. McCoy said the project was unfinished when she took office in April 2026 and was still unfinished at the time of her update. The statement was credited to the Campbell County Public Schools Facebook page; it is a district account of the project, not an independent construction inspection. WLAF, October 9, 2026

Who is doing the work, and what was the original schedule?
GCE Construction of LaFollette, Tennessee, entered a $2,490,000 contract with the Campbell County Board of Education on May 20, 2024, for renovations and additions at the school. This is a later status than WLAF’s June 2026 report, which said the Board had tabled Pay Application 9 pending documents from GCE’s counsel and that mediation between GCE Construction and Lewis Group Architects was being arranged. The October account says the application was subsequently approved and paid; it does not describe a final closeout agreement.

The October 9 update gives no revised completion date. It says the work remained unfinished and that listed items were still under review or subject to the applicable project closeout process. The original target was the 2025–26 school year, but that anticipated timing was not met. Earlier accounts included competing claims about moisture and delays; the October update does not establish a cause for the floor buckle or resolve those claims.
