Concrete work at J1 Hotel in Dubai is substantially complete, and façade, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), interior fit-out and finishing are identified as the project’s next phases. The October 13, 2026 report does not confirm that every package has started. The hotel, at Port de La Mer in Jumeirah, is presented as Dubai’s first Gran Meliá and is scheduled to open in Q4 2027.
What stage is J1 Hotel construction at?
TTN reported on October 13, 2026 that concrete works were substantially complete. It described façade, MEP, interior fit-out and finishing as the next phases, placing the project at a transition from major concrete work to building enclosure, services and interior completion. The report does not give a start or completion date for each package, so it does not establish that all four were already under way on that date. TTN’s construction update

A prior update from project and cost consultant Carter Hones Associates said a mock-up room had been completed in 2025 and approval given to progress with interior finishes and FF&E procurement. That indicates progress on interior design and procurement, but it does not resolve the precise October 2026 start status of site-wide fit-out. Carter Hones Associates’ 2025 update

When is Gran Meliá Dubai expected to open?
The latest reported opening target is Q4 2027, according to TTN’s October 13, 2026 update. That is an opening target, not a stated construction-completion date. Earlier project information differs: ASB Hospitality’s page says construction will finish by 2026, while Carter Hones Associates’ 2025 update aimed for completion by the end of 2026. The sources do not explain whether those earlier dates referred to a different milestone or were superseded by a programme change. TTN · ASB Hospitality · Carter Hones Associates

Why do published room counts differ?
Published capacity figures are inconsistent and should not be treated as a reconciled final specification. ASB Hospitality lists 289 rooms and 83 suites, which totals 372, not 322; the project information summarized in earlier reporting also gives a 322 combined figure, which conflicts with that arithmetic. Carter Hones Associates and TTN state 366 rooms and suites. Until a newer official specification reconciles the difference, the hotel’s final room-and-suite count remains unclear.
