What MiCoB’s 650-plus figure means
MiCoB’s current company profile reports more than 650 3D concrete-printed structures across 13 states. It also says the company has delivered more than 500 impact- and blast-resistant bunkers. These are company-reported totals, not independently verified counts, so they should be read as MiCoB’s account of its work rather than an audited industry measure.

Founded in 2018 at IIT Gandhinagar by Dr. Shashank Shekhar, Dr. Ankita Sinha and Rishabh Mathur, MiCoB presents itself as a construction-technology and execution company, not just a supplier of printers. Its stated mission is “to enable faster, higher-quality, and sustainable construction using 3D concrete printing”; that is the company’s positioning, not a measured result.
How 3D concrete printing works
In 3D concrete printing, a machine deposits concrete in programmed paths, building up a designed form layer by layer. MiCoB describes the process as a chain of linked construction tasks:

- Design and structural intent: Define the building’s form and structural requirements.
- Print planning: Generate print paths and simulate the planned deposition.
- Material preparation: Batch, dose and mix a printable concrete formulation.
- Deposition: Pump and extrude the material through a controlled system, often using robotic equipment.
- Building integration: Add reinforcement and services where required.
- Completion: Inspect the work and handle transport or remaining site work.
The printed portion is therefore only one part of a project. Reinforcement, electrical or other services, inspection, finishing and site completion may still involve separate operations. The precise share that is printed depends on the design and project.
Materials, machinery and software
MiCoB says it develops its own printable concrete formulations and identifies MiCoB Shield 3D as a dry pre-mix. It describes the material requirements as pumpability, consistent extrusion, shape retention after deposition, support for later layers, interlayer bonding and final structural performance. Those are the company’s descriptions of its engineering requirements; the available sources do not independently establish performance results.

The company also describes automated batching, pumping and extrusion control, robotic workflows and manufacturing software. Its profile names Krypton as a manufacturing planning and slicing platform. MiCAD, automated reinforcement and AI-assisted inspection are described as under development or validation, rather than as established, fully deployed capabilities.

Examples of MiCoB projects
MiCoB’s project pages describe work in defence, accommodation, hospitality, education and infrastructure. Examples include a resort at Nagoa Beach in Diu, a warehouse in Lakadia near Bhuj, campus buildings and defence accommodation.

These are examples from MiCoB’s own project descriptions; the listed areas and project characterizations should be understood in that context. The company’s history page also describes a two-storey dwelling unit for soldiers at Ahmedabad Cantonment, developed with Military Engineer Services and inaugurated on 28 December 2022. MiCoB gives its area as 71 square metres and says it was completed in 12 weeks. Its company page further recounts a contribution to a three-storey hybrid 3D-printed building in 2023.

What the bunker count establishes—and what it does not
MiCoB’s profile reports more than 500 impact- and blast-resistant bunkers. A PR Newswire release issued for the company on 6 November 2025 also announced delivery of more than 500 such 3D-printed bunkers to the Indian Army. Both statements are company announcements; the release provides a dated announcement, not independent confirmation of the count or a separate technical assessment of bunker performance.
The label “3D-printed bunker” does not by itself establish which components were printed, what reinforcement or other construction methods were used, or the results of a particular protective-performance test. The project’s design, site conditions and engineering specifications matter.

How to assess a 3D-printed building claim
Project totals and headline examples are useful, but they do not answer every question a client, public agency or reader might have about a proposed structure. For a meaningful comparison with conventional construction, check:
- Printed scope: Which walls or other elements were printed, and which were conventionally assembled?
- Project status: Is the example a demonstration, a completed and delivered project, or part of a company-wide cumulative claim?
- Structural design: How are reinforcement, connections and required services integrated?
- Material evidence: What specifications and project-specific verification support the concrete’s structural use?
- Site and logistics: Can the equipment, material and crew reach the site, and what work remains after printing?
- Performance comparison: Are claims about speed, cost, sustainability or strength tied to comparable projects and documented measurements?
The available company and government materials describe MiCoB’s process and examples, but do not support broad numerical conclusions that 3D concrete printing is categorically faster, cheaper, greener or stronger than conventional construction.
Where the evidence comes from
MiCoB’s company profile, technology, projects and offerings pages are primary sources for what the company reports about its own work. Government of India technology pages provide additional context about printer development, while the November 2025 PR Newswire release records a dated company announcement. The available sources do not include an independent study or an independently audited count of MiCoB’s cumulative projects.
