Inside Oprah Winfrey’s Real Estate Portfolio: What She Owns Today

Oprah Winfrey’s latest publicly reported property transaction was the 2025 sale of a four-acre ranch parcel in Montecito, California, for $17.2 million. It was part of her larger Promised Land compound—not the whole estate. Architectural Digest reported that she retained more than 60 acres there and also owns property in Colorado and Hawaii. Public reporting does not establish a complete, current inventory of her properties.

What Oprah Winfrey reportedly owns now

The most recent detailed account cited here is Architectural Digest’s December 11, 2025 report. It describes Winfrey’s remaining Montecito estate as more than 60 acres and says she also owns property in Colorado and Hawaii. It does not identify a current parcel-by-parcel inventory for those states.

That is a reported outline, not a comprehensive title search. The available sources do not establish every property, the entities that may hold title, or an official current value for the portfolio.

Montecito: a ranch sale within the Promised Land

In 2025, Winfrey sold a four-acre ranch parcel within her Montecito Promised Land compound for $17.2 million, according to the body of Architectural Digest’s report. Its headline gives the sale price as $17.1 million, so the article’s text and headline differ slightly. The same report says she bought the ranch from actor Jeff Bridges in 2019 for $6.85 million.

The property that sold

The ranch house was built in 1919 by architect James Osborn Craig and measures about 3,500 square feet, Architectural Digest reports. It has two bedrooms and four bathrooms, along with a swimming pool and spa, guesthouse, poolhouse, carriage house, and equestrian stables. Those details describe the sold parcel, not the remaining Promised Land estate.

What remained after the sale

The four-acre ranch was only part of the larger compound. Architectural Digest says Winfrey retained the rest of the Promised Land, which still spans more than 60 acres after the transaction. The reported sale therefore marks a change within her Montecito holdings rather than the sale of the entire estate.

Hawaii: a large acreage estimate, not a verified total

Celebrity Net Worth estimates that Winfrey’s Maui holdings cover roughly 2,100 acres, including Upcountry farmland and land near Hāna. This is a secondary-source estimate, not a government-verified current aggregate. It should not be read as a count of residential acreage or as a definitive tally of land she owns today.

For recorded Hawaii documents from 1976 onward, the state Bureau of Conveyances provides an online document-access system searchable by grantor or grantee name, or by document number; copies are available for a fee. Its Property Watch notification service is not guaranteed: the bureau warns that name and data-entry issues can produce false positives or cause records to be missed. A notification—or the absence of one—does not by itself prove ownership.

Former properties: Washington and Illinois

Historical holdings should not be presented as current homes. Celebrity Net Worth reports that Winfrey sold her Orcas Island estate in Washington in 2021 and her final Chicago-area property in 2018. These are historical claims from a secondary compilation, not evidence of present ownership in either location.

What the public figures can—and cannot—show

The reported prices and acreage offer useful context, but they do not add up to an official portfolio valuation. Celebrity Net Worth gives an estimate of at least $200 million for Winfrey’s U.S. real estate, but the available reporting does not establish that as a verified current value. Property estimates, reported transactions, and recorded ownership are different kinds of evidence; none of the figures above is a complete current title audit.
