How does WALTY 2.0 get water from the air?
The planter uses a condenser. In broad principle, this works like cooling equipment: cold surfaces cause moisture in humid air to condense into liquid. WALTY is designed to collect that condensate and use it to irrigate the plant. The product description also identifies temperature and humidity sensors, with user-configurable watering frequency and duration. Hackster.io’s 2024 coverage describes the mechanism, but does not report measured water output or energy consumption.

What humidity does it need, and will it work in a dry climate?
The WALTY 2.0 campaign FAQ states that the planter needs a minimum of 40% relative humidity to condense moisture properly. That is the maker’s stated threshold, not a guarantee of a particular amount of water. In a dry climate—or in a room that often falls below that threshold—the planter may not collect enough moisture to meet a plant’s needs. The campaign FAQ does not establish a real-world yield across different humidity levels.
Humidity can also change from day to day, so the supply may be inconsistent. The cited coverage raises questions about the condenser’s efficiency and power use, but provides no measured figures. That leaves both the amount of water produced and the energy required unquantified.

Where can you place the planter?
The maker describes WALTY 2.0 as an indoor product. The FAQ says an over-refrigerated room may affect performance; its limited outdoor guidance is for a terrace or balcony protected from direct sun and rain. It does not recommend exposing the planter to the elements. The WALTY 2.0 FAQ gives this placement guidance.
Which plants can it water, and what still needs attention?
The maker says it supports most indoor home plants, from herbs to decorative plants. But the owner must know the plant’s watering needs and set the frequency accordingly. WALTY automates irrigation; it does not provide all other plant care.

The FAQ also advises placing roots near the bottom of the planter, where water collects, because setup may affect performance. The stated compatibility is broad, not a guarantee that every species or growing setup will thrive.
Is WALTY 2.0 available to buy now?
WALTY 2.0 ran a Kickstarter campaign from August 7 to 27, 2024. It raised $3,611 toward a $3,000 goal from 22 backers. Those figures establish that the campaign was funded, not that the product shipped to backers or is currently available at retail. The campaign page does not, in the information established here, verify present stock or fulfillment.

How does it differ from a conventional self-watering planter?
A conventional self-watering planter typically relies on a reservoir that someone fills. WALTY’s intended water source is moisture condensed from the surrounding air, which makes its operation dependent on humidity and involves a condenser.
