How to Use the Dehydrator on a Samsung Oven: Check Your Model First

Before dehydrating food, check whether your exact Samsung oven model supports it. The controls, temperatures, and rack directions vary by model.

Check your oven’s model-specific manual before you start. Samsung oven features and controls vary, and Samsung’s official convection guidance does not say that every model has a dehydrating function. Find your oven’s full model number and use the manual for that model and sales region to confirm whether it has a Dehydrate setting or supports drying food another way.

Does your Samsung oven have a dehydrator setting?

There is no single control sequence or temperature that applies to every Samsung oven. Samsung’s US convection guidance explains how to use convection cooking and advises checking the user manual when unsure; it does not establish that all Samsung ovens include a dedicated Dehydrate function. See Samsung’s convection oven guidance.

  1. Find the oven’s complete model number, typically on the appliance identification label or in its paperwork.
  2. Open the official user manual for that exact model and market.
  3. Search the manual for “Dehydrate,” “drying,” and “convection.” Confirm the supported oven compartment, temperature range, rack placement, and any food-specific instructions.
  4. Follow that manual’s controls and recipe guidance. If it does not describe a drying function or suitable method, do not assume that a similarly named setting from another oven applies.

Why instructions vary between ovens

Controls documented for Dacor ranges sold under the Samsung umbrella illustrate why model names matter; they are examples, not instructions for an unspecified Samsung-branded oven.

Manual example Mode and temperature guidance Other documented directions
Dacor Heritage Pro Range HDPR30/36/48 Use Pure Convection. The manual lists fruit at 100°F (38°C), vegetables at 125°F (52°C), and meat at 150°F (66°C). Place prepared food on a drying rack. The publication date is not established in the surfaced manual excerpt.
Dacor Transitional Oven Range Select Dehydrate under Special Function; the manual says the oven heats to 150°F (65°C). It recommends storing dried food in a cool, dry place and mentions lemon or pineapple juice, or sugar, to help fruit retain sweetness. The search listing dated the manual approximately 1.4 years before access.
Dacor Modernist Ranges 48 Pro Dual Fuel Steam Range The manual lists 105–150°F for vegetables or fruit and 145–225°F for meat. Rack positions are specified in that manual’s table. These are model-specific instructions, not general food-safety guidance.

Consult the relevant official manuals: Dacor Heritage Pro Range HDPR30/36/48, Dacor Transitional Oven Range, and Dacor Modernist Ranges 48 Pro Dual Fuel Steam Range. Do not transfer their settings, timings, rack positions, or food directions to another oven without that oven’s manual.

How to dehydrate food when your manual supports it

Use the exact sequence and food guidance in your manual. A practical check before starting is to verify that the instructions apply to your model and compartment, then prepare the food and arrange it as directed.

  • Mode: Confirm whether the manual specifies a dedicated Dehydrate function or a convection mode. For example, the cited Heritage Pro manual says, “You can dehydrate or defrost food at low heat settings in Pure Convection mode”; the Transitional manual instead describes a Dehydrate selection under Special Function.
  • Temperature and food type: Use only the temperature guidance for your oven. The cited Dacor manuals differ substantially, so a value for fruit, vegetables, or meat in one model is not a universal setting.
  • Rack and placement: Use a drying rack only if your oven’s manual calls for or permits it. Check that any rack is oven-safe, fits without obstructing the oven, and is rated for the operating temperature. The Heritage Pro manual’s drying-rack instruction applies to that model family.
  • Convection placement: Samsung Support US says, “When using convection cooking, it’s best to put food items on a single rack (ideally, one of the lower racks in the oven).” That is general convection guidance, not a universal dehydrating instruction; defer to your oven’s manual for rack level and loading.
  • Storage: Follow the model manual’s storage directions. The cited Transitional manual recommends a cool, dry place for dried food.

What temperature should you use to dehydrate fruit?

Use the temperature specified for fruit in your exact oven’s manual, if it provides one. The cited Dacor examples are not interchangeable: the Heritage Pro table lists 100°F (38°C) for fruit, while the Modernist table gives a 105–150°F range for vegetables or fruit. The Transitional manual describes a fixed 150°F (65°C) Dehydrate function. These figures identify those manuals’ instructions only; they do not establish a recommended setting for an unspecified Samsung oven or a general food-safety standard.
