You can choose which rooms the Roborock S7 cleans and adjust its vacuuming and mopping controls. For different settings in different rooms, the dependable approach is to run separate room-based tasks or routines: room selection chooses where the robot goes, but Roborockโs documentation does not clearly establish permanent, automatic intensity profiles for each room.
What โcleaning intensityโ controls on the S7
Intensity is not a single setting. The controls affect different parts of the job, and the available labels can vary with app and firmware versions. Roborockโs S7 product information describes adjustable suction, vibration strength, water flow and Deep Mop.

- Vacuum suction: Quiet, Balanced, Strong or MAX in the relevant S-series manual material. Higher suction can help with carpet, pet hair, grit and crumbs; it also means more noise and resource use. Roborockโs manual material identifies Balanced as the default for the relevant S-series documentation.
- Mop scrub intensity and water flow: These are related on the S7. Roborock says Intense scrub can reach up to 3,000 scrubs per minute, with water flow automatically set to maximum; this describes the setting, not a guaranteed cleaning result. Roborockโs water-flow guidance explains the relationship.
- Cleaning mode: Depending on the app version, you may see Vacuum, Mop, Vac&Mop or Customize. These determine which cleaning functions run.
- Route and cleaning count: Standard Mop Route and Deep Mop Route use different paths; setting a room or zone to be cleaned more than once creates a cross-hatch pattern, according to Roborockโs cross-hatch instructions.
- Carpet behavior: Carpet recognition and mop lifting can affect how the robot handles rugs, but mixed-floor rooms may still call for a vacuum-only task or a No-Mop Zone.
- Room selection: This directs the robot to an area. It does not, by itself, specify how strongly to vacuum or mop.
Roborock rates the S7 at up to 2,500 Pa suction. That product specification is not a promise of pickup performance or cleaning time in every home.

Prepare the map before setting room tasks
Room cleaning depends on a saved map. Roborockโs specific-room guidance says Map Saving mode must be enabled and a map saved before you can select rooms.

- Connect the S7 to the Roborock app and configure Wi-Fi.
- Enable Map Saving mode in the appโs map or device settings.
- Start a mapping clean from the dock. Open doors to the rooms you want included and leave a clear route through the home.
- Check the map, then divide, merge or rename rooms if needed so the appโs room selection matches your layout.
- If you have multiple floors, create and select the appropriate map; Roborockโs multi-map guidance notes that availability and behavior can vary by model and firmware.
Set a custom intensity for one room
Labels and screen layouts change with app releases, operating systems, firmware and region. The following is the typical workflow; use the equivalent room-selection and cleaning-settings controls shown in your app. Roborockโs S7 app connection guide notes that the interface may change.
- Open the Roborock app, choose the S7 and open its saved map.
- Choose Room, Specific Rooms or the room-selection icon, then select the room.
- Open Customize, Cleaning Mode or the settings control displayed for the selected task.
- Choose the modeโVacuum, Mop, Vac&Mop or the available equivalentโand set suction, mop intensity, water flow and cleaning count if those controls are shown.
- Confirm the choices and start the task.
For vacuuming without mopping, select Vacuum in the app; Roborock also describes removing the water tank as an option. See its vacuum-only instructions.
Apply different settings to different rooms
To use different intensities, start a separate task for each room or group of rooms that needs its own settings. For example, run the carpeted rooms with stronger vacuuming first, then start a separate bedroom task with quieter vacuuming and mild mopping. Roborock confirms that room selection and cleaning controls are available, but its published S7 documentation does not clearly confirm that one mixed-room run will apply a permanent, distinct intensity profile to every room. If your app exposes per-room custom settings, you can use them; otherwise, separate tasks are the reliable method.

Recommended starting settings by room
These are practical starting points, not Roborock-prescribed settings. Adjust for your flooring, debris, pets, noise tolerance and floor-care instructions. Suction labels are not numerical power levels.

Choose settings based on the job
When to raise suction
Try Strong or MAX for carpet, pet hair, tracked-in grit, heavy foot traffic or visible dry debris. Stronger suction is not automatically better for every routine: expect more noise and battery use, and potentially more frequent dustbin and filter maintenance. Roborockโs S7 specifications list a 4,700 ml dustbin, 300 ml water tank and 5,200 mAh battery; these are product specifications, not guarantees of runtime or coverage in a particular home. Roborockโs S7 page provides those figures.
When to raise mop intensity
Moderate or Intense scrubbing may suit dried food residue, mud tracks or heavy-use hard-floor areas when the floor can tolerate wet cleaning. Mild is a better starting point for routine dust, quick drying or moisture-sensitive surfaces. More water and scrubbing can leave damp patches, streaks or residue if the pad, floor or cleaning product is unsuitable. Follow the flooring makerโs care instructions; โsealedโ alone does not establish that maximum water flow is appropriate.
When to add a second pass
A second pass can help in entryways, dining areas, pet-feeding spots and other small, high-traffic zones. Roborock says cleaning a room or zone more than once creates a cross-hatch pattern. Allow for longer runtime, more battery use and, when mopping, additional moisture.

Standard Mop Route and Deep Mop Route
Deep Mop is a route choice, not simply a stronger version of every cleaning setting. Roborock says Standard Mop Route allows suction and mop-intensity adjustment, while Deep Mop Route uses a denser Z-shaped path, takes longer and minimizes suction; scrub intensity remains selectable. Roborock recommends mild or moderate scrubbing with Deep Mop Route rather than automatically pairing it with maximum scrubbing. Use Deep Mop for a slower, denser hard-floor mop, not a carpet clean or a vacuum-heavy job. Roborockโs route comparison describes the distinction.
Carpets, rugs and moisture-sensitive floors
The S7 offers ultrasonic carpet recognition and selectable carpet behavior, including automatic mop lifting. Configure the carpet option in the app and verify its behavior in your own mixed-floor layout; an unusual, low-pile or hard-to-classify rug may need a No-Mop Zone or a vacuum-only routine. Roborock explains the feature in its carpet and mop-lifting guidance.
For an area where water is undesirable, choose Vacuum-only rather than relying only on route behavior. For wood, laminate, stone, vinyl and other floors, follow the floor manufacturerโs instructions and start conservatively; the S7โs available mop controls do not establish that every surface can safely tolerate wet cleaning.

Where the app lets you save a routine with the desired room, mode and settings, create separate routines for jobs that need different intensities. If a setting is not available inside a routine on your app build, select it manually for that task instead.
Troubleshoot room selection and cleaning behavior
A room is missing or mislabeled
- Confirm Map Saving mode is on and the S7 is using the intended floor map.
- Run a complete mapping clean with doors open, then edit room divisions or names in the map.
- For multiple floors, check the selected map and the model- and firmware-dependent behavior described in Roborockโs multi-map guidance.
The robot cannot reach the selected room
- Open doors and clear cables, clutter and other obstacles.
- Check that the room belongs to the active map and that thresholds and routes are passable.
- Make sure the dock has a clear approach and the robot can locate it. If the robot loses the dock, the S7 manual material says it may return to its most recent starting location instead. Roborockโs S7 selective-room and zone instructions describe this navigation caveat.
The selected task does not use the intensity you expected
Reopen the taskโs cleaning controls before starting and check the displayed mode and settings. App labels and capabilities can differ by software version; when distinct rooms need distinct settings, use separate tasks rather than assuming a multi-room selection assigns separate intensities.
The robot crosses an unselected area or leaves a drawn zone
Selection is a destination, not a physical boundary, and zone cleaning may extend beyond the drawn outline while the robot navigates. Clear the travel path and use mapped restrictions where needed. Roborock notes this behavior in its zone-cleaning instructions.
