Say “Hey Google, set an alarm for 6 AM tomorrow.” Google Home will confirm the alarm, which will sound on the specific Google Home or Nest speaker, smart display, or compatible Smart Clock that heard the request—not automatically on every device in your home.
The commands below work with Google Assistant and, where available, Gemini for Home. Google’s current alarm guidance covers Google Home and Nest speakers, Nest Hub displays, older Google Home models, and compatible smart clocks.

Set a one-time alarm with your voice
- Say “Hey Google” or “OK Google.”
- Give the alarm time and, if needed, the day.
- Wait for Google to confirm the alarm.
Try any of these commands:
- “Set an alarm for 7:30 AM.”
- “Wake me up at 6 AM tomorrow.”
- “Set an alarm for 8 PM tonight.”
- “Set an alarm for 6:15 AM on Friday.”
Include AM or PM when the time could be misunderstood. Most importantly, issue the command from the device that should physically sound the alarm—for example, the bedroom Nest Mini rather than a speaker in the kitchen.

State the schedule as part of the request:
- “Set an alarm for 7 AM every day.”
- “Set an alarm for 6:30 AM every weekday.”
- “Set an alarm for 8 AM every Saturday.”
- “Set an alarm for 7 AM every day of the week.”
If Google interprets the repeat schedule incorrectly, specify each day or use the exact schedule you want. Check the result by asking, “What alarms are set?”

Name an alarm
A name helps when several alarms are active. Say:
- “Set an alarm for 7 AM called Medicine.”
- “Set an alarm for 8 PM called Take the dog out.”
- “Set a workout alarm for 6 AM.”
You can then ask, “When is my medicine alarm?” or cancel it by name.
Set an alarm on a Nest Hub or other smart display
On a Google smart display, the documented touch-screen path is:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Alarms.
- Tap Set an alarm.
- Choose the time and tap Set.
- Select any available options, then tap Done.
Labels and options can vary by model, language, region, and software version.
Check, change, or delete an alarm
Use voice commands
- Check all alarms: “What alarms are set?” or “Show me my alarms.”
- Check one alarm: “When is my alarm set for?”
- Check a named alarm: “When is my medicine alarm?”
- Cancel an alarm: “Cancel my alarm.”
- Cancel by time: “Cancel my 7 AM alarm.”
- Cancel by name: “Cancel my medicine alarm.”
When multiple alarms are active, include the time, day, or name to avoid cancelling the wrong one.

Use a smart display
- Swipe up from the bottom.
- Tap Alarms.
- Tap the alarm you want to change.
- Update its time or settings and tap Done.
To delete it, open the alarm from the same menu and tap Delete.
Delete an alarm in the Google Home app
Google’s documented app route is:
- Make sure your phone or tablet is on the same Wi-Fi network as the device, or linked to the same Google account.
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap Home, then All devices.
- Touch and hold the device tile.
- Tap Settings, then Audio.
- Tap Alarms & Timers.
- Tap Delete and confirm.
App labels may differ slightly across Android, iOS, regions, and app versions. See Google’s alarm and timer controls for related device-management details.

This speaker works globally with support for most languages and places internationally. And its language settings can always be changed back and forth to your preferred language anytime for international use or travel at your convenience

Google documents the standalone “Stop” command without the wake phrase for English on supported devices, so it may not work identically in every language or setup.
Adjust the alarm volume
Alarm and timer volume is separate from ordinary media volume. Turning up music does not necessarily make the alarm louder.
In the Google Home app:
- Tap Home, then All devices.
- Touch and hold the relevant device tile.
- Tap Settings → Audio → Alarms & Timers.
- Adjust the alarm-volume slider.
On a smart display, swipe up, tap Volume, tap Expand if necessary, and adjust Timers and alarms. Google notes that ordinary voice-volume commands change media or Assistant volume, not alarm and timer volume. More detail is available in Google’s volume guidance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Media alarms
Some Google Assistant setups support media alarms that play music or other supported media. Google currently documents this feature as requiring Google Assistant in English in the United States. Character voice alarms have separate English-language availability in the United States or Canada, so neither option should be assumed to work everywhere.

Automations
Use a normal alarm for a ringing wake-up or alert. If you want music, lights, an announcement, or another smart-home action to start at a scheduled time, use a Google Home automation instead. An automation is not the same thing as a standard alarm.
Smart-display features
Nest Hub and other compatible smart displays may offer features ordinary speakers do not, including custom tones, adjustable alarm duration, adjustable snooze length, sunrise alarms, compatible smart-light integration, and a morning routine after an alarm is dismissed. Availability depends on the device and software. Google says sunrise alarms gradually brighten the display and may work with compatible smart lights.
If the Google Home alarm does not work
- Confirm the alarm exists. Ask, “What alarms are set?”
- Check the device location. The alarm sounds only on the device used to create it.
- Check alarm volume separately. Open the device’s Settings → Audio → Alarms & Timers in Google Home.
- Check the microphone switch. A muted microphone prevents the device from hearing the wake phrase.
- Check Wi-Fi and account status. The speaker or display must be set up and reachable.
- Check Downtime. Google says Downtime might restrict or block alarms on a speaker, display, or Smart Clock.
- Simplify the command. Try “Set an alarm for 6 AM tomorrow” before using a name or complicated repeat schedule.
- Remove duplicates. Review alarms on a smart display or in the Google Home app.
- Specify the details. Include AM/PM, the date or day, and the exact repeat schedule.
A Google Home alarm is not automatically mirrored to your phone’s native Clock app. The device also needs power and a working setup. For an important appointment or wake-up, use a second alarm source if missing it would have serious consequences.
