There is no established universal stud count or tested parts list for this design, so measure the cards you plan to use and adjust the build to fit.
What you’ll need
- A collection of LEGO bricks and, if useful, plates for a wider base. LEGO’s official photo-frame activity calls for “A handful of LEGO® bricks, printed photo cards”; its birthday card-stand activity lists a collection of LEGO bricks. Neither provides a business-card-holder parts inventory.
- The actual printed business cards you want to display or store.
- A ruler, to measure the card or stack and check the holder’s opening.
You can use bricks you already have. LEGO Education also offers building inspiration for Creative LEGO Brick Set 45020, but that set is not a verified, complete kit for this holder.
Build a holder that fits your cards
1. Decide what it should hold
Choose between displaying one card and holding a small stack. Measure the width and thickness of the card or stack, then leave enough clearance for cards to slide in and out. Card-stock thickness and stack size affect the fit, so avoid relying on a universal stud measurement.
2. Make a stable base
Build a base broad enough to support the card without tipping. Overlap bricks or plates across joins so the base stays connected when someone removes a card. A larger footprint can improve stability, but keep it compact enough for the desk or counter where it will sit.

3. Add a rear support and front edge
Build a rear support to keep the card upright. Add a low front retaining edge to stop the card from sliding forward, leaving most of its face visible. Keep the edge below the name, logo, and contact details you want people to read.
4. Test the fit and adjust
Insert the actual card or stack. Check that it sits straight, remains supported, and can be removed without pulling the holder apart. Widen the opening if the cards bind; deepen the holder or enlarge its base if a stack leans or feels unstable.

What design choices matter?
- One card or a stack: A display for one card can be shallower; a stack needs more room and support.
- Visibility or retention: A lower front edge exposes more of the card, while a taller edge can hold it more securely but may obscure information.
- Stability or footprint: A broader base is less likely to tip, but takes up more desk space.
Examples and parts-list limits
LEGO’s official activities show brick-built card frames and stands, while creator BRICKLOVER BRAD published a video titled “How to make a business card holder using basic LEGO parts!” on June 20, 2015. The creator described the design as similar to an official LEGO business-card holder; that comparison is the creator’s claim, not an official LEGO specification. See the creator’s video.
BrickLink’s catalog also has an instruction entry named Desk Business Card Holder. These references establish that such builds exist, but they do not establish a tested dimension, card capacity, or parts count for the custom holder described here.
