To hang a decorative fishing net on a wall, fasten its top corners to hooks near the ceiling, then support the middle and other sections on additional hooks to shape a gentle drape. For a sturdier installation, locate wall studs and choose hooks and anchors for your wall and the weight you plan to hang.
Plan the drape and choose the mounting approach
Decide how high you want the net and where you want its lowest point to fall. The wall’s size and the drape you want determine the hook positions; there is no established universal hook count or spacing. Weekand’s guide to hanging fishnet as a wall decoration recommends placing hooks near the ceiling and adjusting their spacing to the wall and desired effect.

Hang the net on wall hooks
- Locate the studs. Mark the stud positions near the top of the wall. If your chosen hook is not going into a stud, select an appropriate anchor for the wall and follow its instructions rather than assuming a hook or netting has a universal capacity.
- Install the end hooks. Place hooks near the ceiling at the planned left and right ends of the display, securing them as directed for the wall and hardware.
- Attach the top corners. Hang one top corner of the net from each end hook. Step back and adjust the corners until the net sits at the height and width you want.
- Shape the drape. Place the middle and remaining sections of the net on intermediate hooks. Add or reposition support points to create a gentle drape that suits the wall; do not treat any suggested spacing as universal.
- Check the finished display. Make sure the net is supported at the intended points and that its shape does not pull hooks away from the wall.
Account for decorations and hook ratings
Anything attached to the net adds load to the mounting system. Weekand recommends supporting heavy decorations independently at hooks mounted in studs, rather than relying on the net alone to carry them. Use the selected hook’s own rating and installation directions for the actual wall and setup; neither the netting nor a decorative hook has a universal safe-load figure.
For example, National Hardware describes its N274-944 black steel indoor ceiling hook for plants and other decorative objects and lists a 25 lb safe working load for that product. That figure applies to the specified hook, not to other hooks, ceilings, wall installations, or a net display as a whole.

If you use removable adhesive hooks
Follow the instructions for the exact product you choose. For the cited US Command product family, 3M says to wait 28 days after painting before applying hooks, not to hang them over beds or on wallpaper, and not to use them for valuable or irreplaceable items. Its instructions also call for wiping the wall with rubbing alcohol and waiting one hour for the adhesive to build. These requirements are specific to those Command instructions; do not assume they apply identically to other adhesive hooks.
