To clean a Samsung oven safely, first check your model’s manual: cycle names, controls and water placement vary. Use Self Clean for stubborn baked-on residue only when your model offers it; use Steam Clean or Hybrid Clean for lighter soil where available. Clean racks and exterior surfaces separately, and take care with residue between door panes.
Choose the right cleaning method for your Samsung oven
Samsung ovens do not all have the same cleaning cycles or controls. Find your model number and consult its manual before starting. Some models offer Steam Clean, while some reservoir-equipped models use Hybrid Clean. The manual is the authority for the cycle sequence, water placement, rack restrictions and door-glass access.
| Method | Best suited to | Key preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Self Clean | Stubborn residue that remains after manual cleanup | Remove racks and accessories, cookware, probes and foil; wipe up excess spills first. |
| Steam Clean | Lighter spills; a less intensive option available on some models | Empty the oven, remove racks and accessories, and add water as directed for the model. |
| Hybrid Clean | Models that specify this reservoir-based cycle | Follow the manual; Samsung’s general instructions describe adding water to the reservoir rather than the oven cavity or tray. |
Samsung describes Steam Clean as “a less intensive alternative to a full Self Clean cycle.” Check your manual to confirm which methods your particular oven supports.
Run Self Clean only with the required precautions
Self Clean heats the oven to very high temperatures to burn away or dissolve food residue. It is intended for residue that remains after manual cleanup, not as a substitute for routine wiping.
#1 Best Overall
- Powerful Fume-Free Formula – Cleans tough baked-on Food & Grease without harsh fumes.
- No Gloves Required - Fume Free formula is safe to use without gloves
- Suitable for Everyday Use – Ideal for daily spot cleaning
- Quick and mess free Application– Spray, wait, and wipe for an effortless clean without scrubbing.
- LARGER PRO SIZE FOR BIGGER JOBS - Extra product means more deep cleans per can. Ideal for frequent or double ovens cleaning and tackling large or heavily soiled surfaces.
- Remove everything from the cavity, including racks, dividers and accessories, as well as cookware, probes and aluminum foil. Samsung distinguishes nickel shelves, which should be removed, from porcelain-coated shelves that its guidance says may be cleaned during Self Clean; verify the rule for your model in its manual.
- Wipe up excess spills before starting. Do not use commercial oven cleaners or oven liners in or around the oven; residue can damage the cavity during the high-heat cycle.
- Select and start Self Clean using the controls described in your model’s manual. Keep children away and do not leave them unattended nearby: exterior surfaces can become hot enough to burn.
- When the cycle ends, wait for the oven to cool and the door to unlock. Do not force the door open. Stand back when opening because hot air and steam may escape.
- Once cool, wipe away ash if needed. If the cycle malfunctions, turn off the oven, disconnect power and contact a qualified service technician.
Samsung warns that fumes from a self-cleaning oven can be dangerous to some birds. Move birds to a distant, well-ventilated room while the cycle runs.
Use Steam Clean or Hybrid Clean for lighter soil
Steam Clean
Steam Clean is a less intensive option offered on some Samsung models. Samsung’s U.S. support instructions say to empty the oven, remove racks and accessories, and add a cup of tap water—not distilled water—to the tray or oven bottom, as applicable. Close the door and start the cycle according to the manual. After the oven cools, wipe away remaining water with a sponge or soft, dry cloth. For heavy residue, Samsung suggests rubbing detergent into it before starting the cycle.

Hybrid Clean
Some reservoir-equipped models use Hybrid Clean. Samsung’s general instructions describe adding 2 and 1/4 cups of water to the reservoir instead of the cavity. Because this procedure is model-dependent, verify the amount and steps in your oven’s manual rather than applying them to another model.

Let the oven and removable parts cool before taking them out. Soak racks in lukewarm soapy water and scrub with a non-abrasive scouring pad. Clean a partition the same way. If cleaned racks no longer slide smoothly, Samsung suggests applying a few drops of cooking oil to the side rail guides with wax paper or a cloth.

Wipe the exterior according to the surface material
Turn the oven off and let it cool. For stainless steel, put a small amount of approved stainless-steel cleaner or white vinegar on a cloth or paper towel. Wipe only the stainless areas, moving with the grain, then dry with a soft cloth.
For outer glass panels, use glass cleaner or soapy water, rinse and dry. Stainless-steel cleaner can leave glass looking smeared. Keep the door gasket dry and prevent moisture from entering door cracks.
Clean between door panes cautiously
For residue between panes, Samsung describes using a long, thin, preferably flexible tool wrapped in a cleaning cloth and secured with tape or rubber bands; a purpose-made oven cleaning tool is another option. Remove the door only if you can follow the exact instructions in your model’s manual. Samsung warns that damage caused by disassembling the door may not be covered by any remaining warranty. If you are not comfortable doing the work, seek Samsung out-of-warranty service.
