To replace a Samsung Bespoke refrigerator water filter, first confirm the exact refrigerator model and the cartridge it takes: “Bespoke” covers multiple models, and filter fit is not universal. Samsung’s Canadian water-filter guide recommends checking the model number or the installed cartridge before buying. Then shut off the water, replace the cartridge according to its instructions, flush the system as specified for your model, and reset the filter indicator.
Confirm the right replacement filter before you start
Find the refrigerator’s full model number and read the code printed on the installed filter. Check both against Samsung’s Water Filter Finder or the manual for your refrigerator. Filter placement and cartridge type vary by model.
For example, Samsung’s Bespoke 4-Door Flex specification lists HAF-QIN. That is an example for that unit, not evidence that every Bespoke refrigerator uses the same cartridge. Samsung’s US product page identifies the HAF-QIN replacement water filter; buy it only if your model calls for HAF-QIN.
Samsung Canada recommends genuine filters and warns against third-party filters. That is the manufacturer’s guidance; it is not an independent comparison of filter performance.

What to prepare
- The replacement cartridge confirmed for your refrigerator model
- Your refrigerator’s manual, for filter location, flushing amount, and indicator-reset instructions
- A cloth to catch drips
How to replace the filter
- Shut off the water supply. Samsung directs users to turn off the water before replacing the filter. Samsung Canada also advises dispensing water until the flow stops to relieve pressure.
- Locate the filter compartment. Use your refrigerator’s manual; the filter’s location varies by model.
- Remove the old cartridge. For HAF-QIN and HAF-CIN filters, Samsung’s general procedure is to turn the cartridge counterclockwise until it unlocks, then pull it straight out. Follow your manual if your filter uses a different procedure.
- Install the replacement. Remove its protective cap. For HAF-QIN and HAF-CIN, push the cartridge straight into the housing and turn it clockwise until it locks, aligning the lock mark with the indicator line.
- Restore the water and check for leaks. Inspect around the filter and its housing. If the cartridge will not seat or lock, do not force it; recheck the model code, orientation, and instructions.
- Flush the system as directed. The required amount depends on the filter and refrigerator. Samsung’s US guidance says to dispense several gallons for HAFCU1, while its UK guidance gives 10 litres for some procedures. Neither quantity is a universal instruction for every Bespoke refrigerator; use your model’s manual.
- Reset the filter indicator. Use the controls and sequence specified in your manual or on your refrigerator’s control panel. The reset procedure varies by model.
When should you replace the filter?
Samsung’s US guidance recommends replacing the water filter every six months. Treat this as Samsung’s recommendation, not a universal measured lifespan; follow your refrigerator’s manual for the model-specific schedule and indicator instructions.
