Depending on the control panel and model, you may hold a labeled button for three seconds, choose Celsius in an arrow-button menu, or change the unit in Family Hub’s Fridge Settings. Use the method that matches your panel; if it does not, check the manual for your exact model.
Choose the method that matches your refrigerator’s controls
Samsung’s instructions vary by model and region. A method described for one panel may not apply to another. The full model number and its manual are the best way to confirm the correct sequence.

Switch units with a button
On some Samsung refrigerators, press and hold the designated panel button for three seconds to toggle the display between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Samsung Gulf lists Door Alarm, Energy Saver, and Lighting as common options, but the right control depends on the model. Samsung Gulf’s instructions explain this model-dependent approach.
Samsung Colombia documents Energy Saver on some external digital panels and Door Alarm on some horizontal internal panels. Its page applies to products purchased in Colombia, so treat those button examples as panel-specific rather than universal. Samsung Colombia’s instructions also describe a separate menu method.

Use the center-and-arrow menu
- Wake the display if it is asleep.
- Tap the center control until the °F and °C indicators blink.
- Use the arrow controls to select °C.
- Confirm by tapping the center control, or wait five seconds for the selection to take effect.
Samsung Singapore documents this sequence for the RB7300T menu, and Samsung Colombia describes it for compatible panels. Your control layout may differ. See Samsung Singapore’s temperature-setting guidance and Samsung Colombia’s panel instructions.
Change the unit on a compatible Family Hub
- Open Fridge Manager.
- Go to Fridge Settings.
- Under Temp. Unit, select °C.

If the controls do not match
- Do not keep pressing unrelated buttons; the unit control varies by panel and model.
- Find the refrigerator’s full model number and consult its manual or Samsung support for your region.
- Check that the instructions cover the model and market where your refrigerator was sold. Samsung’s Colombia instructions, for example, are scoped to products purchased in Colombia.
Changing the display is not changing the cooling target
Switching from °F to °C changes the temperature scale shown; it does not by itself set a new refrigerator or freezer target. Samsung Singapore’s guidance recommends 3°C for the refrigerator and -19°C for the freezer (38°F and -2°F, respectively). Those are recommendations on that support page, not a guarantee of the ideal setting for every model or use case. For model-specific controls and guidance, consult the refrigerator manual.
