Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsClean miters come from a correctly aligned saw, a sound blade, secure workholding and a test cut—not from trusting the angle scale alone. Check the tool against a reliable square, then verify the joint with scrap before cutting project stock.
Start with a safe, accurate setup
- Disconnect power. Unplug the miter saw or remove its battery before inspecting or adjusting it. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your model; DEWALT’s alignment guidance also begins by telling users to unplug the saw.
- Inspect the blade. Look for dullness, chipped or missing teeth, residue and wobble. Clean a dirty blade; replace one that is damaged, using a blade compatible with the saw. A dull or damaged blade can contribute to inaccurate cuts, as DEWALT explains.
- Check the table and fence. Use a straightedge to check reference surfaces for flatness and alignment. Feeler gauges can help identify gaps. If the saw has a split fence, check that both sides line up.
- Verify the blade angle. With the saw disconnected from power and the miter set to zero, compare the blade plate with the fence using a reliable square. Keep the square off the carbide teeth, which can give a misleading reading. Adjust the detent or stop as the manual directs, then check again. Calibrate bevel angle separately when the cut requires a bevel.
- Make a test cut. Use scrap of the same material and the actual settings and support arrangement planned for the project. Check the joint before cutting finished stock.
These checks follow the practical calibration methods described by Pro Tool Reviews and DEWALT. A square verifies the setup; the test cut verifies how the saw actually cuts.
Choose a test that matches your saw
Miter saw: use a flip test
Cut a short piece of scrap, flip one piece and bring the cut edges together against the fence. A triangular gap indicates angular error, so recheck the saw’s alignment and setting rather than assuming the scale is correct. Make another test cut after adjustment.
Table saw: assemble scrap miters into a square
Check the miter gauge and blade angle, then cut scrap pieces and assemble them into a square. This tests the result of the setup as a joint, not just the reading on a scale. The BCcampus woodworking machinery chapter recommends test cuts as the reliable check of machine angle.

- Valued Carpenter Pencil Set: You will get 2 pcs solid carpenter pencils with 26 piece 2.8 mm refills, 1 replaceable sharpener, 1 plastic storage box.The complete carpenter pencils combination allows you to finish your work faster and more easily
- Deep Hole Marker Pencil: The deep-hole construction pencils adopts 45mm elongated tip design, which is more convenient to mark in the small hole or in other tight areas that other carpenter markers cannot reach
- Carpenter Pencils with Sharpener: The sharpener is screwed into the top of the work pencil, which won't get lost either. Built-in pencil sharpener that keep the lead with pointed and smooth to Improves line of sight in fine work
- Stronger Solid Lead: This work pencil is matched with a 2.8 mm thick lead , which is much thicker and stronger during the drawing process of construction work, it will not break or damage easily
- Marks on Various Surfaces: 3 colors solid construction pencil can marks on various surfaces, such as metal, plastic, wood, paper etc. Ideals for woodworkers, contractors, craftsmen, builders, merchants and masons
Circular saw: guide the cut
A suitable guide can help keep a circular saw on its intended path. Kreg’s miter-cutting tips cover guide-based cutting and checking 45-degree cuts. Confirm the result on scrap before using the cut in an assembly.
Keep repeated cuts consistent
- Seat each workpiece firmly against the fence and support it appropriately.
- Keep the same saw settings and work-support arrangement for matching pieces.
- Test the setup with scrap before committing project stock, especially after changing settings.
- If a test joint shows a gap, check the blade, fence, table, detent or stop, and setup before altering a cut by guesswork.
A gap does not have one universal cause. A dull or damaged blade, misaligned reference surfaces, an inaccurate stop or a setup that has not been confirmed can all warrant inspection. Correct the underlying setup and test again instead of sanding one face at random.

- Ergonomically Designed: Work in tight areas with a compact design that gets into tough spots
- Compact and Lightweight: Both tools are designed to fit into difficult to reach spaces. The 1/4" impact driver has a length of 5.55 in. and weighs just 2.8 lbs, while the 1/2" drill/driver measures only 7.5 in. and weighs 3.6 lbs
- Both the DEWALT impact driver and electric drill driver feature integrated LED work lights with a convenient 20-second delay, ensuring enhanced visibility in dimly lit or challenging work areas
- One-Handed Loading - Keep one hand free with a 1/4 in. hex chuck that accepts 1 in. bit tips
- Power drill cordless with 1/2" single sleeve ratcheting chuck provides tight bit gripping strength, making bit changes faster and more secure
Why not use a fixed angle correction?
There is no supported universal offset—such as always setting the saw past 45 degrees—that will correct every saw and setup. Calibrate the tool and judge the test joint. The angle that works is the one that produces the required fit with your actual equipment and material.
