If a Harmar Pinnacle stair lift will not move, first identify its exact model and check the status signal against that model’s owner manual. An SL300 uses beep patterns; an SL600HD uses LED colors and safety checks. These signals are not interchangeable. Limit owner checks to the manual’s simple operating instructions, and contact a dealer or qualified service provider if the fault persists.
Start with the model, charging position, and signal
Find the model label on the lift and use the matching Harmar manual. Options and configurations can change which checks apply, so do not use another Pinnacle model’s beep table, light meanings, or override instructions.
For the SL300, an intermittent beep lasting about 30 seconds means the lift has stopped away from a charge station; the signal repeats every five minutes until it returns to one. Move the lift to a charge strip at either end of the rail if it is safe to do so. If it is beeping with a flashing orange light, the manual also says to confirm it is near a charging station and that the charger is securely plugged in. Before trying any other check, note the light or beep pattern and whether the lift stopped at a landing or between landings. That information helps a dealer identify the issue.

What SL300 beep patterns mean
Harmar’s SL300 manual distinguishes major faults, identified by one to eight beeps, from minor faults, which produce a single long beep that resets when the fault clears. Some switch combinations apply only to units configured with the relevant features.

Listed minor-fault causes include the seat being swiveled out of position, an edge-safety condition (SL300FR only), a footrest condition, current overload, or low battery voltage. What SL600HD indicator lights mean
The SL600HD manual describes these LED states:
| LED state | Meaning and permitted response |
|---|---|
| Green | Operating mode. |
| Orange | An obstruction is being contacted; the lift may travel only away from it. |
| Flashing orange with intermittent beeping | The lift has stopped off its charge station. |
| Red | A problem may require service. If red remains after switching the lift off and back on, contact the local dealer. |
If the LED is not green, the manual’s basic checks include confirming the seat is locked in position, checking the footrest safety pans, and ensuring the uphill and downhill paths are clear. Follow the manual for any further checks; do not treat wiring or internal components as owner repairs. If the LED remains non-green after the recommended checks, arrange service. SL300 optional swivel-seat and power-footrest issues
These instructions apply only to the SL300 when the relevant optional features are installed. Follow the unit’s manual, and do not stand up if the lift stops between landings because a power-swivel seat is out of its home position. Harmar’s manual states: “DO NOT STAND UP.”

If the seat starts and stops during rotation, a self-resetting fuse may have triggered; the manual says to allow two minutes for it to rest. If an optional power footrest does not operate, the manual says to confirm its four-pin control cable is plugged into the chassis and contact the dealer if the issue continues. Owner checks should stay within the simple operational steps and cleaning instructions in the exact model’s manual. Contact the installing dealer or a qualified Harmar service provider if those steps do not restore normal operation. Harmar identifies these as reasons to seek professional service:
- A persistent code or red light, or repeated shutdowns.
- Unusual, jerky, noisy, or inconsistent travel.
- Electrical smells, electrical problems, or visible damage.
- Charging problems that remain unresolved after basic manual checks.
Mechanical adjustment, wiring work, internal battery replacement, rail alignment, controller diagnosis, sensor calibration, and cover removal belong with trained professionals. Record the model and signal before calling. Harmar stair lift troubleshooting support.
Manual override is an emergency measure, not a repair
If a rider cannot exit after a failure, a helper may need to move the lift to a landing using the procedure for that exact model. The SL600HD manual describes a 1/4-inch socket and wrench or a 7mm socket and wrench, depending on the model. The SL300 manual describes an optional manual override tool instead. Neither tool is a general-purpose diagnostic or repair device.
