Pinnacles Park is a proposed public space within Alkimos Central, Perth’s northern suburbs—not the Pinnacles Desert near Cervantes. PerthNow reported in December 2024 that the plan would frame a scrub-covered area containing around 20 naturally formed limestone pinnacles as a scenic community space. The proposal is not confirmation that the site is open or that visitors can approach the formations.
Where is Pinnacles Park planned?
The proposed park is part of Alkimos Central, a town-centre development in Perth’s northern suburbs. DevelopmentWA places Alkimos Central 40 km north of Perth and describes the development area as 200 hectares. Alkimos Station began services on 15 July 2024, and the wider development is expected to be delivered over 20 to 30 years. DevelopmentWA’s Alkimos Central overview provides the broader project context.
This proposal is separate from the Pinnacles Desert in Nambung National Park and from Little Pinnacles at Mullaloo.
What is proposed for the limestone formations?
PerthNow reported on 26 December 2024 that DevelopmentWA’s Alkimos Central masterplan proposed making a scenic space called Pinnacles Park around a scrub-covered area with around 20 naturally formed limestone pinnacles. According to the report, the State Government revealed the formations in 2020 and construction of Romeo Road was rerouted to help preserve them.

PerthNow also reported that senior Noongar cultural leaders confirmed the formations have significant meaning for Whadjuk Noongar people. The report does not provide a direct quotation from a named cultural leader, so the significance is best understood through that attributed reporting rather than an invented or unattributed quotation.
Does the wider Alkimos plan include paths?
PerthNow reported that landscape architects UDLA developed a wider path network for Alkimos Central, including a planned 9 km loop linking the coast and city centre over a dune ridge. That is a plan for the wider development; it does not establish a path into Pinnacles Park or confirm that visitors will be able to reach the formations.

When could Pinnacles Park open?
DevelopmentWA’s current timeline lists a Central Square & Park near Alkimos station for development in 2026. The agency says its timeframes are subject to change. It does not identify specific works at the pinnacles site or state when that area will open. The Central Square & Park milestone should therefore not be treated as a confirmed Pinnacles Park opening date. See DevelopmentWA’s Alkimos Central timeline for the agency’s current schedule.
Retail development is also scheduled to commence in 2026, with Stage One retail expected to open in 2027. In September 2025, the WA Government announced a 2.4-hectare first-stage retail and services precinct planned to include a supermarket, childcare, medical and allied health services, and other stores. These announcements describe town-centre development, not visitor facilities at Pinnacles Park. The WA Government’s announcement gives further detail on the precinct.

Can visitors see the Alkimos pinnacles now?
The available project information does not confirm that Pinnacles Park is open to the public, or specify its final design, boundaries, access conditions, parking, paths, accessibility, facilities, or whether visitors may approach the formations. Treat the area as a proposed space rather than an established visitor attraction, and check with DevelopmentWA or the relevant land manager before making a visit based on an expectation of public access.
