Gurugram’s Municipal Corporation (MCG) has approved a door-to-door collection arrangement for construction and demolition (C&D) waste, with planned capacity of up to 500 tonnes a day and an estimated project cost of ₹4.34 crore. The approval was reported after the 10th meeting of MCG’s Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC), chaired by Mayor Rajrani Malhotra. It does not, by itself, confirm that the service has started.
What the approval covers
The committee approved a system to collect construction and demolition debris from door to door. The reported figure of up to 500 tonnes per day is the arrangement’s stated capacity, not a verified daily collection total. Hindustan Times reported an estimated project cost of ₹4.34 crore; The Times of India rounded the estimate to ₹4.3 crore. Has the new collection service started?
The reports establish committee approval, but do not state a launch date or confirm that collection under this arrangement has begun. MCG’s website lists a “C & D Waste Pickup” service and a model request for proposals covering door-to-door collection and transportation to processing. Those listings are useful starting points for residents, but they do not establish the new arrangement’s terms or operational status. Check MCG’s official website for current service instructions.
What residents still need to know
The approval reports and municipal service listing do not specify the details residents would need to arrange a pickup. In particular, they do not establish:

- How to request a pickup, or what schedule to expect.
- Whether residents will be charged and, if so, how much.
- Which operator will carry out the work or whether a contractor has been appointed.
- Where debris collected under this arrangement will be processed.
Do not assume that details in a general C&D service listing or model procurement document are the final rules for this approved project.
Why MCG says the project matters
The stated purpose is to organize C&D waste collection and management and prevent debris from accumulating on roads, vacant plots and other public spaces. That is the project’s intended benefit; the approval reports provide no measured evidence yet that dumping has fallen.

How it fits into the wider municipal approvals
The door-to-door debris collection plan was one part of a broader set of decisions at the F&CC’s 10th meeting. Hindustan Times reported that the committee approved about ₹47 crore for nine sanitation, solid-waste and demolition-waste works. The wider package also included additional manpower and machinery, including tractor-trolleys and earthmovers for all six municipal zones. These are separate work items, not details of the C&D pickup arrangement.

Mayor Rajrani Malhotra described additional manpower and machinery in the six zones as important to strengthening sanitation, while MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said the approved works would provide additional sanitation resources. Their remarks concern the wider sanitation approvals, not the debris service’s launch or operating rules.
