Construction at I-70 Exit 203 in Frisco is planned to pause for winter from November 2026 through April 2027. CDOT has not specified an exact final workday or restart date, so the window should not be read as a firm day-by-day schedule. The project is currently listed as running from April 2026 through October 2027.
What the winter schedule says
CDOT’s April 10, 2026 announcement sets out a planned winter shutdown from November 2026 to April 2027, with construction continuing through October 2027. The agency’s current project page also lists the broader construction timeline as April 2026 to October 2027. CDOT’s April announcement and its project page do not name an exact last workday or spring restart date.
An earlier CDOT design-phase page forecast construction through fall 2028 and described winter pauses between November and March in 2026 and 2027. That was an earlier schedule; the later project information gives an October 2027 finish. The reason for the schedule change is not stated in the available notices. CDOT’s design-phase page
What Exit 203 work includes
The project rebuilds the CO 9 interchange at I-70 Exit 203 and the adjoining Lusher Court/Dillon Dam Road connection. CDOT says the work is intended to address congestion and improve safety and mobility, while adding bicycle and pedestrian connections across CO 9 and I-70.

Progress reported before the planned pause
In its August 6, 2026 phase-two update, CDOT said crews were moving CO 9 traffic onto the underpass bridge deck built during phase one. The agency reported completed phase-one work on bridge foundations, girders, the deck, wing walls and nearby retaining walls, along with drainage improvements and sanitary sewer replacement between Dillon Dam Road and CO 9. CDOT Region 3 Transportation Director Jason Smith said in that August 6 release: “We know construction isn’t easy on the traveling public—especially those who pass through this area frequently—but as one of the major gateways into Summit County, this corridor will ultimately offer a safer, smoother experience for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians alike.” The statement describes the agency’s expected benefit; it does not report a measured outcome.

CDOT’s April announcement said no full closures were expected during the first construction season, daytime two-lane travel would remain open, and I-70 and CO 9 lane closures would be limited to nighttime hours except for a short sewer-work detour on Dillon Dam Road. The August phase-two advisory warned of single and double lane closures on I-70 and CO 9, particularly overnight. These are phase-specific expectations and advisories, not a published winter traffic plan.
