If your Frigidaire mini fridge is one of the recalled models, stop using it immediately. Check the model and serial number on the label on the back against both the July 2025 recall and the January 2026 expansion; the later notice added model EFMIS121. The $700,000-plus in reported property damage belongs to the original recall notice, not to every affected unit.
Check whether your mini fridge is included
Use the complete model number and serial number on the label on the back of the unit. Compare both identifiers with the ranges below; appearance or color alone cannot establish whether a fridge is covered.
| Recall notice | Model and serial range | Other identification details |
|---|---|---|
| July 24, 2025 original recall | EFMIS129: A2001–A2308; EFMIS137: A2001–A2312; EFMIS149: A2001–A2308; EFMIS175: A2001–A2310. | EFMIS129-B and EFMIS129-C are excluded from the EFMIS129 range. About 634,000 units were recalled. CPSC original recall notice |
| January 15, 2026 expansion | EFMIS121: A2001–A2310. | About 330,000 additional units; red, 6-can model sold at Target stores and Target.com. CPSC expansion notice |
For the 2025 recall, the affected products were 6- and 9-can mini fridges in multiple colors, sold at Walmart and other stores and online at Walmart.com and Amazon.com from January 2020 through December 2023. The stated retail price was $36 to $40. The EFMIS121 units in the 2026 expansion were sold exclusively at Target stores and Target.com from January 2020 through October 2023 for around $30. Sales history can help identify a unit, but the model and serial number determine coverage.
Why the fridges were recalled
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says internal electrical components can short circuit and ignite the plastic housing, creating fire and burn hazards.
