It combines a fixed 4K bullet camera with a motorized dual-lens 2K PTZ camera, so one view can preserve the wider scene while another follows and zooms in on a person, vehicle, or pet.
That is useful coverage technology—but it is not a true 360-degree sensor recording every direction simultaneously. The PTZ unit must physically turn, while the fixed lens maintains its own forward-facing overview.

What is the eufyCam S4?
The eufyCam S4 is an outdoor wireless hybrid security camera designed for locations such as driveways, front yards, entrances, walkways, and irregular or L-shaped areas where a conventional fixed camera may leave useful activity outside the frame.
Its three-lens arrangement consists of:
- A fixed 4K bullet lens: 3840 × 2160 resolution and a 130-degree diagonal field of view.
- A PTZ wide-angle lens: part of the motorized tracking module.
- A PTZ telephoto lens: used with the second PTZ lens for closer views and hybrid zoom.
The PTZ assembly can pan approximately 355 degrees horizontally and tilt 70 degrees vertically. Eufy lists 8× hybrid zoom and a claimed tracking distance of up to 164 feet (50 meters), although actual results depend on placement, lighting, network conditions, subject size, and contrast.

Starting with 4 cameras, this highly scalable system can easily support up to 16 devices total.
- Precise Detection, Powerful Deterrence: Radar and PIR sensors deliver precise motion alerts with fewer false alarms. When a threat is detected within your set zone or schedule, red and blue warning lights and a 105 dB siren activate to deter intruders.
The design can sometimes replace a fixed camera and a separate pan-and-tilt camera at one mounting point. It cannot replace cameras installed on different sides of a large property or cameras aimed at several physically separated approaches.
What “see everywhere all at once” really means
The most accurate description is: the S4 behaves more like a wide-angle camera paired with an automated tracking camera than a true all-seeing panoramic sensor.
The fixed upper camera continues watching its broad, forward-facing area. When the system detects activity, the PTZ module can turn toward the subject, zoom in, and track it. This creates a persistent overview alongside a closer, moving view.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →For example, the fixed lens may continue showing a driveway and front path while the PTZ camera follows a person walking toward the door. If several people enter the scene, Eufy says the camera can zoom out and reframe to keep more of them visible.
There are important limits:
- The PTZ lens is directional and cannot show every angle at the same instant.
- An object outside the fixed lens’s view may not be captured in detail until the PTZ head turns toward it.
- A wall, tree, vehicle, soffit, or roof edge can block both detection and movement.
- Tracking can fail when a subject disappears behind an obstruction, moves in a different direction from other subjects, blends into the background, or is detected too late.
Eufy’s “no blind spots” style of marketing should therefore be understood as reduced blind spots under suitable installation conditions—not a guarantee that every part of a property is continuously visible.

Image quality, movement, and night vision
The S4’s headline 4K specification applies to the fixed bullet lens. The PTZ lenses are dual 2K cameras, listed at 2688 × 1520. A close-up produced by the PTZ system is not 4K detail covering the camera’s entire 355-degree pan range.
It is useful to separate the specifications:
| Specification | What it describes |
|---|---|
| Resolution | How much image detail a lens can capture. |
| Field of view | How much of the scene a lens sees without moving. |
| Pan range | How far the motorized PTZ assembly can turn. |
| Tracking distance | How far away the system may identify and follow a subject in favorable conditions. |
Eufy lists a combined maximum field of view of 210 degrees in its comparison information. That should not be confused with simultaneous 360-degree recording.
At night, the S4 supports color night vision using four spotlights as well as infrared night vision using four IR LEDs. Eufy lists infrared illumination to approximately 32.8 feet (10 meters). Spotlights can improve color visibility and also act as a deterrent, but they may be intrusive in locations where a discreet camera is preferred.
Tracking and deterrence features
The S4 is designed to hand activity detected by the fixed bullet camera to the PTZ module. Its advertised detection categories include humans, vehicles, and pets. The camera can then automatically zoom toward a subject and use auto-framing to widen the view if more people enter.
Other built-in features include:
- Radar and PIR motion detection.
- A 105-decibel siren.
- Red and blue warning lights.
- Four spotlights for color night viewing and deterrence.
These features make the S4 particularly suited to a driveway, side passage, or front approach where detection and active warning matter. They also make it a relatively visible, feature-heavy unit rather than a discreet camera.

The S4 has a detachable integrated 5.5-watt solar panel, a rechargeable battery, and USB-C/direct-power support. Eufy says one hour of direct sunlight can provide a day of power under its stated conditions.
That claim depends on factors including panel angle, shade, season, weather, temperature, camera activity, and recording mode. A shaded mounting location or a busy scene can consume power faster than the panel replenishes it.
Most importantly, 24/7 continuous recording requires direct power. Solar-and-battery operation is primarily intended for event-based recording and alerts, not unrestricted always-on recording. If continuous footage is important for a construction site, driveway, material-storage area, or entrance, plan for a suitable wired power connection and verify that the recording setting is active after installation.
Storage, subscriptions, and HomeBase
The S4 can operate without a HomeBase hub. Standalone storage includes 32GB of built-in eMMC storage, with microSD expansion up to 256GB. A microSD card is not included.

Eufy advertises core operation without a mandatory monthly subscription. However, “no subscription” does not mean “no storage cost”: standalone buyers may still need to purchase a compatible microSD card.
The supported HomeBase S380—also marketed as HomeBase 3—adds:
- 16GB of built-in storage.
- Expandable storage listed by Eufy up to 16TB.
- BionicMind AI features, including family-versus-stranger differentiation.
- Additional multi-camera management features.
- Support for certain advanced recording functions.
Eufy says 24/7 recording and Snapshot require HomeBase S380 firmware V3.7.2.8 or later, together with the latest Eufy app.
Existing Eufy owners should check compatibility before buying. Eufy states that the S4 is not currently supported by HomeBase 2/S280, HomeBase mini, HomeBase Professional, or Eufy NVR. Owning an older Eufy hub does not make the S4 fully compatible; advanced features require the S380 ecosystem.
There is also a physical-security trade-off. Footage stored only on the camera may be lost if the entire camera is stolen. HomeBase storage keeps footage in a centralized location, but adds hardware cost and another device that must remain powered, connected, and supported.

Installation and placement checklist
- Choose the primary approach. Aim the fixed 4K lens at the driveway, path, doorway, or other approach where identification matters most.
- Leave the PTZ head clear. Check that walls, eaves, soffits, branches, and roof edges do not obstruct its horizontal or vertical movement.
- Mount for both security and identification. Place the camera high enough to discourage tampering, but not so high that faces and vehicle details become unusable.
- Plan the power method. Use a sunny position for solar event recording, or direct power if 24/7 recording is required.
- Check Wi-Fi at the final location. A strong signal indoors does not guarantee a reliable connection at an exterior wall or outbuilding.
- Update before configuring advanced features. Install the latest Eufy Security app and update an S380 to firmware V3.7.2.8 or later.
- Configure detection. Set human, vehicle, and pet alerts, activity zones, and notification schedules.
- Test before final tightening. Walk through likely routes, test PTZ tracking, and confirm the solar panel receives meaningful direct sunlight.
- Verify recording. If continuous recording is needed, connect direct power and confirm that recording is active rather than assuming the solar panel will provide it.
If 24/7 recording or Snapshot is unavailable, check direct power, S380 firmware, Eufy app updates, supported hub pairing, storage capacity, and card formatting. Then reboot the camera and hub and recheck the setting.
U.S. price and availability
On Eufy’s U.S. product page, prices observed on August 16, 2026 were:
| Configuration | Observed U.S. price |
|---|---|
| One S4 camera | $349.99 |
| Two-camera kit | $799.99 |
| Four-camera kit | $1,399.99 |
| Camera plus HomeBase S380 | $549.98 |
Prices can change with promotions, membership discounts, and regional availability. Earlier launch coverage from T3 reported approximately $299 for the standalone camera and $549 for a two-camera/HomeBase package, but those were launch-era figures rather than the current U.S. prices observed above.
Who should buy the S4?
The S4 makes the most sense when one mounting point needs both a constant wide view and automated close-up tracking. It is a strong candidate for a driveway, front yard, entrance, or L-shaped area where a fixed camera alone would not be enough and a separate PTZ camera would be inconvenient.
It is a poor fit if you expect literal simultaneous 360-degree recording, need solar-only 24/7 recording, have no reliable sunlight or direct power, own an unsupported Eufy hub, or need separate viewpoints around a large property. It is also not ideal if you want a discreet camera.
Alternatives to consider
| Camera | Best for | Key differences |
|---|---|---|
| SoloCam S340 | Lower-cost solar coverage | 3K wide-angle and 2K telephoto cameras, solar power, 355-degree horizontal and 70-degree vertical movement, and 8× hybrid zoom. Eufy prices observed were $199.99 for one camera and $399.99 for two. |
| Floodlight Camera E340 | Wired locations needing bright lighting | AC-powered dual 3K/2K cameras, approximately 2,000 lumens, 24/7 recording support, and local storage up to 128GB. Eufy listed approximately $239.99. |
| SoloCam E42 | Lower-cost multi-camera HomeBase system | 4K video, SolarPlus 2.0, 360-degree positioning, and AI tracking. A two-camera HomeBase S380 kit was observed at $449.99. |
The S340 is the cheaper solar choice, the E340 is better where AC power and floodlight brightness are priorities, and the E42 can be a lower-cost route into a multi-camera HomeBase setup. None offers exactly the S4’s fixed 4K overview plus dual-2K PTZ tracking arrangement.
Bottom line
The eufyCam S4 is a clever hybrid camera, not a magical omnidirectional sensor. Its real advantage is keeping a wide 4K overview while a separate motorized PTZ system follows activity and provides a closer view.
