What was the Ecocapsule Space?
In its June 5, 2020 article, New Atlas described the Space as a stripped-back sibling to the original egg-shaped micro-home. Its basic interior was a single room, with flooring and storage included. Buyers could add a bed, air-conditioning, more furniture, and a bathroom.

The article reported a 200 W solar array mounted on a telescopic pole and connected to batteries, an RV-style grid connection, and rainwater collection. These are launch-era descriptions, not a verified specification sheet for a Space unit available today. New Atlas also said worldwide shipping was available at launch.

New Atlas reported these starting prices in 2020. The dollar equivalents below are the article’s approximate conversions at the time, not current exchange-rate estimates.

The €30,000 difference between those reported starting prices came with a meaningful configuration difference: the Space was presented as a basic shell-like room with optional fittings, while the original was described as a more fully equipped micro-home. The article does not establish whether either launch price included VAT, shipping, site preparation, or other delivery costs.
What does Ecocapsule list now?
Ecocapsule’s current product page, checked October 4, 2026, lists an Ecocapsule model for €99,000. It does not say that this is the 2020 Space or preserve the Space’s launch configuration. The manufacturer describes the listed model as sleeping two and gives dimensions of 5.5 × 2.3 × 2.6 m.
The same page lists up to 28.8 kWh of battery capacity, 2.8 kWp of solar panels, and 150 L water tanks. Its interior features include a queen-size foldable bed, compact bathroom, kitchen, water filtration, heating and cooling, and smart-home control. Ecocapsule notes that product specifications may change without notice, so these figures describe what the page stated on that date, not guaranteed specifications for a future order.

What changed in the announced NextGen redesign?
On October 15, 2024, Ecocapsule announced a NextGen redesign with a panoramic window, a larger solar-panel area, at least 500 L of additional storage, and an extra 0.5 m of length. The company said it planned to begin serial production by mid-2025. That announcement documents the plan, not confirmation that production began on schedule or that those changes are present in a currently orderable unit.
The release attributed the redesign to customer feedback. Co-founder and architect Tomáš Žáček said: “We are excited that Ecocapsule has attracted many customers, and, thanks to their feedback, we have the opportunity to work on an improved generation and stay ahead of the competition.” CEO Michal Tomčík described expanded solar area as a way to increase energy self-sufficiency. Those are company statements; the cited material does not provide independent measurements demonstrating comparative performance.

The available manufacturer listings do not confirm whether the Space remains for sale. Ecocapsule’s preorder page displays an Ecocapsule at €99,000 with a Q2 2025 milestone, an XL with a Q1 2026 milestone and price to be disclosed, and a Box at €55,000. It also displays a refundable deposit and a €100 amount in the form. Both stated milestones are past as of October 4, 2026; the page alone does not establish present production, delivery timing, or the terms applicable to a new order.
Before treating any displayed figure as a delivered price, ask Ecocapsule to confirm in writing whether Space is available, the exact model and configuration, production and delivery dates, deposit and refund terms, and whether VAT, shipping, site delivery, or taxes are additional. Neither the historical €49,900 Space price nor the current €99,000 Ecocapsule listing provides a like-for-like delivered quote.
Is Ecocapsule Box the same thing as Space?
No. Box is a separate modular-dwelling range, not another name for the egg-shaped Space. Ecocapsule’s homepage, checked October 4, 2026, lists Box XS from €29,900, Box Classic from €55,000, and Box XL from €79,900, excluding VAT. The company describes different floor areas and off-grid solar, battery, HVAC, and water options. Those Box prices should not be used as prices for Space or the Ecocapsule model.
What to compare before choosing a unit
The sources provide historical Space details and current manufacturer listings, but not a current, like-for-like quotation across Space, Ecocapsule, and Box. For a construction or site-planning decision, request the information that determines total project fit and cost:
